I’ve never been much of a camera person, get caught up in living in the moment, often don’t even remember to take photos. That being said, I find now that I do appreciate the pictures and videos that I do have. Wonderful to have this memory saved! ❤️ Paul
Hi Paul, that’s a very good point. I’ve always envied my friends and family who really enjoy life and can just live totally in the moment. When you were filming you really are a bit removed from the moment and you’re more of a an observer of people living in the moment lol! I guess I’m just more into capturing the moment to relive the future rather than living in it when it’s actually happening lol. 🤪
I have been doing much the same thing -- renewing old friendships. I agree with you it is well worth the time and travel. Traveled nearly 400 miles to visit with friends with whom I had taught school through 2000 -- we hadn't gotten together since 2009. In response to your question about comfort level with videos, I was terribly ill at ease with being videos until I attended graduate school in the early 1990s and had to record teaching practicums on video tape -- after many, many trails, I finally made my peace with the camera. I still am not particularly fond of being on video, but can tolerate it -- the last few years of my career were spent teaching in a large computer lab where the labs continual surveillance by video cameras significantly reduced my issues with computer damage and any other problems as I could refer to the recordings.
Hi Kevin, thank you for sharing this with us. It’s like that all the same practice makes perfect. At first I think everyone’s a little intimidated to be in for the camera, but once you’ve done it a few times you kind of forget us there. Hopefully you will be an inspiration for others reading this. 😄👍
I love the fences and the patio, too! It's so sad to hear about bullies showing up at any celebration. It looks so warm there, but i dud notice a lot of long sleeves. I'm close to Atlanta, GA and we've been cold for us (just the way I love it, lol). A beach get away every once in a while, even to a cold beach is always so nice. Your friends seem so nice, and your friend needs to know she is totally adorable, but dignified on video! I hate to be on videos, too; or in pictures. I try lately to be in more, so it will always be there for my granddaughters. I don't know why but it makes me VERY self-conscious of everything.
Hi Sharon, it was sunny but definitely breezy and cool. I think it only got up to about 60° and the breeze made it seem a lot cooler. But it’s still very nice. There’s just something about capturing memories and special moments on video that you just can’t capture in a photograph. I’m sure your family members will be so grateful that they have a video of you where they can see you walking and talking and having fun when someday you’re no longer here. I will give anything to have videos of my grandparents. Just to hear their voice again would be so awesome. But unfortunately iPhones weren’t around back then. Now it’s just so easy. Thanks for sharing with us. 👍
What a nice video, Steve! I found out that there's a flex bus that I can pick up and take me into LA, Orange County and San Diego that I'll be taking advantage of. I made it into LA this past summer for a couple of days but it will be nice to not have to drive to these destinations.
Hi Amy, I hadn’t heard about that. I can see how if you were just going to one specific place that could be very convenient probably a lot cheaper than if I have a car with gas. Thanks for letting us know. 👍
Great day you had there with some really nice friends nice brunch good times good conversation right? You couldn't have asked for a perfect weather day either. thx for sharing for sure . I don't mind being in a video it's kinda fun at that. like you said where did all the years go flying by, so go on have a ball Life's too short.🎉🎉
Looks like you had a lovely day. Glad to see the weather cooperated. The coast can have a mind of its own sometimes. I usually don't like my picture being taken because I either look angry or uncomfortable. My grandfather was a photographer. He had his own shop in Austria. I have inherited his eye for taking a good picture. Glad you got together with you friends and plan to get together with more of them. I sadly don't have any friends or family to get together with. Thanks for sharing your day. You and Jim take care and be safe.

I don't mind being on film or photos. It is nice to have those memories.

Thanks Steve, always great to hang with friends on a beautiful day. Two things caught my eye (and ear). One is the "perfume-like" taste of rosewater, rose hips, etc...my girlfriend is Persian and rose water is used in desserts quite often...you're right, it tastes like you've just taken a swig out of grandma's perfume bottle (sorry for that image). The other was your omelette, my go-to is ALWAYS a chili cheese omelette, even make them at home when I've made chili, yum! All the best to you and Jim in '24.

Yes, years ago, I stayed in Long Beach on the Queen Mary for two weeks doing a computer installation and training contract for the US Navy. I had a blast. No one ever likes the way they look on video even when they look great. I bet all of your friends think you look great and you don’t even know it. 😄👍
I don't like being on video because I have a very thick southern accent. 😂
Hi Kimmie, that’s part of the fun, trying to decipher everyone’s accents and trying to figure out what everyone is saying. These days, with everyone doing UA-cam from every region at all over the world I can really understand what anybody is saying lol! 🤪👍
I don’t mind being filmed, or photographed. But as Greg Ferguson used to say, on the Late Late Show, I’m a bit of a media whore.
Great video by the way.👍
Lol I need more friends like you Iain! 😄👍

I guess I’m just not a private person so it’s hard for me to relate. 👍
