  • I take one of these soapiness dispensers apart to see how it works, look at the sensing signals and examine the pump.
The results are as expected and the quality of the build reveals a substantially built product.
Apologies for the bad framing, one of the things I will get used to paying attention to.
Making these videos is getting fun though and I can work on the shortcomings that I currently have with my setup, though it's not terrible.
I like the soap dispenser, it is very well designed and built to give good service, and is real value for the greenback thrown at it.
Here for the teardown of the current version: • Dettol automatic soap ...

How you checked DC voltage 4.03?
Mine one showing 1.48 V at that place,
    But Yours is Right.
I fixed it now after your Video

I opened it up and found the wires attached to the sensor have been disconnected. The soldering must have come off and also there was some brown stuff over it im assuming rust. I cleaned that up but now i dont know which side the green and red so onto the sensor bulb as it doesnt indicate

No harm in trying both ways to see what works, hope you get it sorted.

Hi Duncan, you mentioned that you wanted to use this as dosing pump. I'm thinking about doing the same for pH and nutrient dosing for a home hydroponics setup. Wondering if there's an easy way to use the existing electronics and just bypassing the IR trigger with a Arduino. Looking forward to your feedback. Cheers.

      Hi Dries,
One can read the IR straight into the Arduino as I did in my rain gauge video.
And just look for the one pulse per rev from the limit with one of the Arduino digitals.
I have not got as far as making a dosing system with one of the pumps yet.
I have found a source of nice diaphragm pumps, did buy one and must make a teardown video.
They cost a hundred Rands from the China shop and are perfect for a nutrient dosing system.
These pumps are sold as a bottle top water dispenser gadget, but they seem to contain a nice pump and are worth buying just for the pump.
Let me know if I can provide more info,
      Regards, Duncan.
