It's funny but I have to respectfully disagree. The Golde Age for me was the early 90s when skateboarding was not a societal norm but more a social parasite. Skating went from vert pop culture to a street underground cult. We skated to have fun. No money. Purity at its essence.
@@buffkapital It was actually rebellious to skateboard back then, and everyone hated you. Kind of like bikers in the 60's, now everyone rides a Harley. Same with tattoo culture.
damn it's really crazy to see Brandon Turner ripping here in 02', if u'd tell him he'll sw hardflip wallenberg like 20 years later, he even wouldn't believe!
Back Then: That wonderful, beautiful time when competitions were by skaters for skaters.. Here & Now: The $money$ time when competition$ are by $ponsor$ for $ponsor$..
Don't get me twisted.. Progression will always occur, no matter what.. But when Pro Skaters seemingly have "Stylists" & "Wardrobe Assistants", that's pretty loopy to me.. Just my opinion..! For example.. Just one.. Cody Mac: Pre-SLS = Baggy Jeans, baggy t-shirt, baggy hoodie, lil bit of chunk on those shoes, & actually had, I guess, "Normal hair", so to say.. Now it's all Singlet tops, short shorts, long pulled up socks& the thinest skate shoes I've ever seen [Obviously apart from vans slip on's (I'll never get how to skate in those)] Anyway, I'm NOT being judgemental on the skater, not his fault, he's just skating with an un-asked-for fashion team in tow.. & I get it, you gotta eat.. So, then try on these new clothes from the unreleased line, in stores next month.. Still hungry, how about a new hair cut, goes with them clothes, here, take these shoes as well, just wear all this shit & we'll pay you your bit.. If I went to far.. Sorry.. Cody is an amazing skater.. Style & Steeze = Pa-leaze.. How he tweaks out, nearly shifty, those SW Flips with that back (front) foot tweaked so much you can clean see the sole of his shoe.. Damn.. Not to mention his Nollie BS game, Spin or Flip, those Q-pipe stall variations.. The Steeze in the catch.. Damn.. Ok, that's off my mind.. I've said my peace.. Peace..!
Golden age of skateboarding
Ten Fold Totally agree man.

Casi todos mis ídolos de la niñez en el skate están aquí! En Tampa pro 2002!
Back when every skater in the contest had a different style. Now every contest is full of robots with 1 or 2 unique skaters.

this contest sold its soul to stickers.
Without product advertising, professional skateboarding wouldn't exist.
nowadays they're better? supporting pepsi, wendy's and even the army?! was def. cooler there, cause it's more from skaters for skaters.
When it was about style and skill to skate in baggy clothe.
