Fulaan. You single handedly have motivated me to start my own UA-cam channel. I’ve been doing photography for 6 years now and always had a very strong interest towards film. Best review! Short, clear and right to the point on every aspect. Thank you 5:55 im going for the r50 for those same reasons. Don't need more for now. Thank you! Im going to start documenting travels, wish me luck.
You have soo many great videos. I just saw the price of the R50 and posted my M50 mk ii for sale. Now trying to decide what camera will be my hold over until they make a better R8 that doesnt over heat. I like the small form factor over the bricks of other full frames cameras.
I decided on the R50 because I’m returning to photography and was originally looking at the m50 but like the user friendly approach the r50 offers. Last dedicated camera I used was a T3i so I feel the extra cost of the r10 wasn’t worth it for my needs. Way I look at things, why pay more for a camera that would take a little longer to get the hang of when it already should blow every single camera I have owned out of the water. Thanks again for the video, it really helped me decide.
@@PassionPainNDemonsStreetwear It's decent but Canon isn't the strongest in low light in general. If that is your main thing then Sony may be a better option.
Appreciate the breakdown between the both cameras. I bought the R10 without looking at the R50. The primary use is going to be used for product photography for a website and short videos for social media. I'd say I'm certainly a beginner here. Thoughts on returning the R10 and saving the price difference (it hasn't arrived yet so can still return it).
Wanted to get the r50, but my eletronics store had a huge discount on the r10 for about 777€ which is a total steal. now im a proud r10 owner and love taking pics of my motorcycle when i go on tours

It's the R10 I have my eye on for adding to my R kit, replacing my M kit for hiking and out and about. I do hate to lose the smaller size of the M, since in a backpack, size adds up real quick. Then there's the minor challenge of not having an alternative to the EF-M 11-22mm, not to mention having to replace my much-loved EF-M 32mm f/1.4 (The RF 35mm f/1.8 is on order, but again, the size factor is not the same. Whaahhh! I want it all!).
Just bought the R10 so I can improve my UA-cam videos, seems good so far, I'm using the bundled lens at the moment and it seems fine. Great video by the way
What about the focus breathing compensation on r50? r10 does not have that. And on dpreview forum so state that the a eye autofocus is slightly better than the r10. R 50 also have higher resolution on the screen an weight is 54 grams lighter

6:52 I have wanted to get into photography for years. I looked at the canon T8i a few years ago but decided to go mirrorless. I want a camera for portraits, nature, stars and landscapes. I think I will go with R10. Either way will be a learning process my last was a Sony point and shoot and years ago I had a Nikon DSLR. I will be checking out your videos. Thank you.
Which would you recommend for a beginner? I really will only use it for casual photography, vacation, grandkids and their games. I don’t think I will video that much. I was thinking R50 and 18-150 lens

Hey! How is the low light capability on the R50? When I owned the M50 I remember for video you could rlly go much over ISO 800 in low light before you started to hit major grain
Will try for the R10. Selling my R50 to a friend that likes it due to the body is easier for his to hold. Also hard to find zoom lens for the R50 as well.
The R10 is a little bit better in the hand than the r50 but regarding zoom lenses it takes the same lenses so no advantage there. I would recommend adapting EF and EF-S lenses using the Meike drop in ND adapter. Then you have limitless EF amd EF-S zoom lens options.
I’ve got the R10. My biggest thing rn is shutter speed any advice? I’ve got the 18-150mm lense I believe. I’m wanting to focus more on sports photography. I’m fairly knew at this. Am I asking too much for the photo to be more clear and sharp from the camera itself? Or is that where the editing comes in play also? I mean need a whole video just for all of my questions. 🫤
Been watching your videos and I have to say im learning a lot from you and you helped me made my choice to going to the canon family! But I’m thinking of leaning towards the r50 for my first camera!! Or the r8 . lol I know it’s not in this video but the r8 is hard to ignore how beast it is for the price!
Thanks! I appreciate that. Regarding your point about GAS. Yeah I agree to a certain extent. I talked about it a little here ua-cam.com/video/YubaSACHlQA/v-deo.html
Looking to film strictly short films and mostly low light. Which is the best pick? I'm a big fan of using rigs like camera cages and side handles with field monitors.
The RF 50mm f1.8 is good and affordable. The 16mm f2.8 rf is also good and affordable. The Sigma 18-35 EF lens is my favorite APS-C lens but you will need an adapter to use it. The best adapter is the Meike drop in ND adapter.
Still trying to make my choice but slightly leaning more towards the R50 now instead of the R10, and may invest more in lenses for the camera. I am also a beginner looking for my first camera to take away on holiday with me.
I use a 3D printed grip for my R50 if im shooting handheld. I have settings in my custom menu. Happy enough with it. If I were to upgrade it would be for a FF body with IBIS. Very happy with the R50 though.
I’m seriously looking at the R10 for two specific purposes: landscape photography and for video of my daughter’s soccer games. From what I’ve seen, it’s fully capable for both and your review helps but don’t think a different camera would be a better choice? I’m not a pro photographer but want a good, solid, capable camera to do the multitasking. Also, glass recommendations?
I think the R10 is great for what your trying to do. For glass I'd go with the Canon RF 16mm f2.8 and the Canon RF 50mm f1.8 - they are both pretty affordable and will give you a nice wide and a nice tight option.
VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS!!! right now i can get a refurbished r50 for 549$ and a refurbished r10 for 599$. Would it be more practical to just pay that extra 50$? I’m brand new to photography so I’m very clueless
Overall I’ve been kinda bummed getting the r-10 cause no IS and only 2 lenses available but have been super glad finding your channel and all the cool stuff to do with it. The way you deliver advice and the topics is amazing. Very inspiring!
I want to get the R50 for my wife she loves taking pictures of birds at the feeders and animals at the park also she runs a nonprofit and is doing a bunch of zoom meetings we don't have a webcam at the moment and from what i have read the R50 can be used as one with that do you think the R50 would be the right choice or should i save more and get the r10 thank you in advance
Another great video. I got the R10 not too long ago and learning more and more every day. The reason why I got the R10 is I do both travel vlogs AND product reviews. Sometimes I will do longer videos and cut them down (i.e. putting together a large cat tree, or putting together an extensive video suite) so I need the longer runtime. The 18-150mm kit lens that came with the R10 is surprisingly good. I also got the Canon EFS 10-18mm lens with the Meike Drop in filter mount adapter you suggested. This combination has worked well for almost all of my needs. When I do travel vlogs and it is too rainy out for the R10, I just go back to my DJI Osmo Action camera and use some editing magic in post. Thanks for all you do and keep up the great work.
I'm looking to do video for disc golf. Slow motion to help see what I'm doing wrong when teeing off among other things. Not sure if the R10 is truly worth the different despite the temptation to get the better camera. Thoughts?
i have been looking for a lighter option to replace my old 5ds. i already have a number of ef-s lenses for my 550d and the R50 looks like a good fit. the 5ds is great but its so heavy and bulky. i was thinking of selling it and my 24-70 f/2.8 and getting the R50. its a really hard decision as i love my full frame. i would have to get used to shooting apsc again. but the R50 has such nice features and with an adapter can support so many lenses. thanks for the comparison. i think the R50 is the go over the R10 for me.
I’m new to photography and really want to purchase a new camera. I am leaning more towards the R10 bc it would mainly be for shooting photos not videos. With that said I see the telephoto lens under your links but does it need an adapter to work or does it work without one?
It needs an adapter. I would get the Meike EFT-R ND Adapter. That being said I thing Canon released some new RF-s telephot lenses that you wouldn't need an adapter for.
Hi, I'm beginner and willing to learn. So which one is better for both night and daylight? Indoor also outdoor shoots. I'm focusing on events. Like shooting people more but also good one for views. Mainly for photo not for video.
Hi fuulan, i need your help to choose between these two, i need the easiest one for family shots and i will always use auto focus so. And if the AF are the same ill just go for the r50 and save money. I wish u could answer this❤️
Hey there , can you help me with buying one of them coz i've no idea which one should i buy r10 or r50 and someone suggested me canon 850D please let me know ... thank you (I've no idea about cameras i need one for cooking videos, makup tutorials and vlogging)
which one is better? r10 with 45mm lens or r50 with 210mm, my main point is to learn photography - commercial photography, street photography & landscape photography
If i upgrade from a powershot camera 10 years old should i go for a r50 or a r10. Does the r50 has the same flexibility in the terms of manual mode as the r10?
Hello, Fulaan. I need your advice 🙂 I need a budget but decent camera for pet photography indoor and outdoor. What will suit me better R10 with a prime lens or R8 with a kit lens? I have my old 550D and feel very limited 😕
I am struggling with deciding on a camera. I plan to shoot wildlife, landscapes, and some streets. The video option will be used sparingly; what would you recommend, R50 or R10?
I just subscribed because of your knowledge and foresight. This was exactly the video I needed, I purchased the r50 but the body just isn't useful for me. The grip is way to shallow and I have normal hands.
Even not knowing anything about cameras, I know what I want to accomplish as a photographer/videographer and this video is easy to understand made the decision simple. R10 it is. Thanks.
Great Video! Random question - is it worth it to upgrade from the Canon EOS 2000D(Rebel T7) to the Canon R50? Will I notice a huge difference in my photos and videos?
I am interested in R10 camera with 18-150mm lense. Not sure if this lense helps me to capture wildlife pics well. Can you guide on that with some images with this lense in R10 ?
Based on the video, I’ve decided to go with the R10 since I’ll be using it for a cooking show podcast and some entry level street photography. Given these use cases, can you please suggest a good lens for me? Thank you for the nice videos, they’re informative and straight to the point!
Question. I have the canon 5d mark4 and it’s bulky to travel with. Which would you recommend just strictly for photography. R10 or r50. My main thing is to travel ?
Hello, I am planning to upgrade from Canon EOS 1100D, I mainly photograph cars and I plan to shoot cinematic videos with cars, which would be a better camera in my situation, R10 or R50? Thanks!
The new RF 16mm f2.8 is anice lens for the price. The main advantage of EF lenses would be being able to use the viltrox speed booster and the Meike drop in ND adapter.
Can you shoot hdr pq on the r50 with a manual focus lens (with no contacts) in manual mode? if so, how? Or I must be in the hdr shooting mode? In hdr mode it doesn’t start recording 😅 I received it today and I don’t know how to make it work haha
Hello Fulaan, Thank you for your videos, I've learned a lot, I am just starting with photography. I decided on Canon R10, thanks for your comparison video. Can I have some advice please if possible? I bought body only and for a start I am looking for a good but cheap lens for creating food videos, mostly done using tripod, would really appreciate your advice. Thank you so much.
Depends what focal length you need. If you prefer wide I'd go with the Canon RF 16mm f2.8 and If you prefer a tighter shot I'd go with the Nifty Fifty Canon RF 50mm f1.8
Hey! Fulaani love the videos. I insightful. I got this Canon eos R10 and also I bought this Sigma 18-35 mm that uses A mount to EF-S but the R10 won't take pictures or videos. Any advice? Thanks.
@@FulaanCreative I have tried Foto Diox Pro Sony (A)-EOS R, and K&F MAF -EOS R. Even in manual mode the APERTURE can not be adjusted it is stuck in F/00. The lens is good .I brought it to a reputable company to check.
Im wanting to get into photography. Mainly to take family photos , maternity pics, baby pics maybe. Which out of the two do you recommend? Or do you recommend anything else? Thank you x
Amazing video! I'm looking for a camera with 1k budget to start filming videos for UA-cam, Instagram and more. I'm moving to Japan next year and I'd like to share my adventures there. Would you recommend the R10 for vlogging, recording night videos in Tokyo streets (where is always a good lighting) or maybe I should check another brand like Sony (ZV/Alpha series) or Nikon (Z50)? I apreciatte your time! Thanks a lot!
Great vids man! Been watching them for a while now while planning to start my own channel in 4 weeks time. I have a question: Do your LUTs work on all cameras equally well or is it better to buy LUTs designed spescifically for Canon M50?
I think the R10 is the best for me. Either camera is a massive upgrade from my 600D. I plan to shoot wildlife, and fighter jets/aircraft. It'll be my secondary camera once Canon either makes an R7 Mk 2 or an R6 with 30+ megapixels. The R5 would be the ideal camera, but I just can't justify the price. I want to sell prints someday so megapixels do matter to me.
The R5 is very expensive for what you get in my opinion. If you ever come across a good EOS R for less than $900 you may want to consider that. IT has a 32 Mega Pixel sensor which might be a good middle ground for you.
I'm just getting into photo and video and have been shooting more with my phone. I was shocked when looking to proper cameras due to their prices, but after watching your videos the r50 seems like a great option as a first camera despite being pretty expensive. Thanks!
It isn't the best at it but can get the job done on a basic level. The issue you may encounter depending on how fast moving your subjects are is 1. Rolling shutter and 2. the burst rates not being fast enough but again it may or may not be an issue for you. If it's more of a hobby then it is fine but if it's for work you may be better off with a camera more suited for that purpose.
@FulaanCreative I'll definitely take note on that! I use a nikon p1000 and looking to go back to a more compact level and familiarity of a dslr looking camera when I started out years ago. I like that it's small like my Rebel G film camera I bought recently.
@@FulaanCreative Great! I just bought it and it came with the 18-45 lens. I’m brand new to photography do you know the Adapter name and the lens I would need?
Since the R8 can be used with a $60 battery grip that was intended for the RP it's now my favourite of the 3. The battery grip solves the poor battery life issue.

@@YvngChuck Yeah for real. That's even cheaper than the old school M50! Congrats on the new camera by the way.
Thank you.
Nice. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Which would you recommend for a beginner? I really will only use it for casual photography, vacation, grandkids and their games. I don’t think I will video that much. I was thinking R50 and 18-150 lens
I agree. R50 will be more than enough for all those things.
Thanks! Was tossing up between these two and didn't know the R10 could do 4k 60. Decision made based on that.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi bro..from india..
I bought r50 ..i ha e one issue..pleas help me.befor im.using 250d,z30,m50 all are doing same function while half press the shuuter button focus will be selected ut in my r50 its not working while press half way teh shutter...how it will solve..pleas help
Not sure, it might just be a setting in the menu.
Hey! How is the low light capability on the R50?
When I owned the M50 I remember for video you could rlly go much over ISO 800 in low light before you started to hit major grain
It's better than the M50 but still not that strong as far as low light.
@@FulaanCreative I will go for the R10 this week My elderly friend has a hard time with heavy cameras, and the R50 is perfect..
Great summary really help me make my mind up - pulling a trigger on the R10 upgrading from a DSLR. Thank
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and well explained difference man.
Just wondering should i go for 18-45 mm or 18-150mm lens kit??
I got both, they both take great pictures, but the 18-150 is faster and the zoom is handier! I also got the RF 50mm 1.8 for portraits!
@@thedirtygot9570why bother with the 18-45 if you have the 18-150?
The 18-150 is all you need
I’ve got the R10. My biggest thing rn is shutter speed any advice? I’ve got the 18-150mm lense I believe. I’m wanting to focus more on sports photography. I’m fairly knew at this. Am I asking too much for the photo to be more clear and sharp from the camera itself? Or is that where the editing comes in play also? I mean need a whole video just for all of my questions. 🫤
Try and shoot off of a tripod instead of handheld & for fast action sports keep your shutter speed at 1/500 or faster. That should help a lot.
The rf 400 mm is a insane lense
What lense should I get for the r10 and r50 is I were to get one
The RF 50mm f1.8 is good and affordable. The 16mm f2.8 rf is also good and affordable. The Sigma 18-35 EF lens is my favorite APS-C lens but you will need an adapter to use it. The best adapter is the Meike drop in ND adapter.
Honest, prolly gonna go with the r10. Semi-professional photographer here, and I will be getting the r10 now. Thank you for this video.
Glad to help
Hi! I have read some comments somewhere stating that R50, when used as a webcam, doesn't transmit audio. Is it true?
Does the r10 have amzing colors like the camera you were using in 5:49 and 1:44 and 2:27 in 60fps video ????
And can you give me a good lens recommendation that have good quality like 5:49 and 2:27 and 1:44 clips
And is the ef-s 18-135mm lens’s good like the 2:27 and the others
Yes it does. That was all shot with the Canon M50 and EOS R. It has a lot to do with lighting conditions and the Color grading.
Sigma 18-35 with the Meike EFT-R Adapter
Not sure I never used it. But most lenses these days do pretty well.
Still trying to make my choice but slightly leaning more towards the R50 now instead of the R10, and may invest more in lenses for the camera. I am also a beginner looking for my first camera to take away on holiday with me.
Nice. The R50 is plenty for most
I use a 3D printed grip for my R50 if im shooting handheld. I have settings in my custom menu. Happy enough with it. If I were to upgrade it would be for a FF body with IBIS. Very happy with the R50 though.
I agree. Lovely camera
how it is 3D printed gripe?
Awesome information here! Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
How would you compare the resolution & functionality of the R50.. with my older DSLR.. the 70D?
It would be a big upgrade in pretty much every way.
Great job. I love your videos clear and easy to understand.
Thanks man!
I'd go for the R10 for the additional $50
@@FulaanCreative thank you will probably be buying it in the coming days, i’m excited to learn and hopefully find an immersive hobby in it
Which would you recommend for start of newborn photography? r50 or r10 😊
I think the R50 is a great first camera
Overall I’ve been kinda bummed getting the r-10 cause no IS and only 2 lenses available but have been super glad finding your channel and all the cool stuff to do with it. The way you deliver advice and the topics is amazing. Very inspiring!
Thanks man! I'm glad I could help.
Get the canon rd lens mount it will give you 39 more options of native canon lenses
I want to get the R50 for my wife she loves taking pictures of birds at the feeders and animals at the park also she runs a nonprofit and is doing a bunch of zoom meetings we don't have a webcam at the moment and from what i have read the R50 can be used as one with that do you think the R50 would be the right choice or should i save more and get the r10
thank you in advance
If the main use will be photography then I'd go for the r10 although the difference is pretty marginal.
Just for photography, would I benefit upgrading from my Canon 3000d ? Or buying better lens would be more sensible decision ?
Depends what kind of photography. In my opinion the main benefit would be the new AF system
Thanks! I appreciate the kind comment.
I'm looking to do video for disc golf. Slow motion to help see what I'm doing wrong when teeing off among other things. Not sure if the R10 is truly worth the different despite the temptation to get the better camera. Thoughts?
It should be fine for that purpose. I think it's worth the extra cash over the r50 unless the budget is real tight
Thanks! (Sorry just saw this now). I went with the R10. Lots to learn but very excited :)@@FulaanCreative
i have been looking for a lighter option to replace my old 5ds. i already have a number of ef-s lenses for my 550d and the R50 looks like a good fit. the 5ds is great but its so heavy and bulky. i was thinking of selling it and my 24-70 f/2.8 and getting the R50. its a really hard decision as i love my full frame. i would have to get used to shooting apsc again. but the R50 has such nice features and with an adapter can support so many lenses. thanks for the comparison. i think the R50 is the go over the R10 for me.
Thanks for sharing. I think there are a lot of people with older Canon Cameras that are in a similar situation to yours.
Both are the same when it comes to night/daylight. The R10 is the better photo camera though.
Hi fuulan, i need your help to choose between these two, i need the easiest one for family shots and i will always use auto focus so. And if the AF are the same ill just go for the r50 and save money.
I wish u could answer this❤️
The AF is pretty much the same

Thanks for this video! Helped with my decision to get the R50. Do you know if K&F Black Mist Filters are compatible with the R50 lenses?
You are welcome. Yes they are compatible you just need to check the thread size of the lens and match it to the filter
Does it matter what laptop we use for editing pictures ? I was thinking about dell or Microsoft
Any fairly newer laptop should be able to do a decent job.
Which is better, R50 60 FPS 1080P, no crop, or, R10 60 FPS 4K, with crop, can you tell the difference when view on a TV screen?
which one is better? r10 with 45mm lens or r50 with 210mm, my main point is to learn photography - commercial photography, street photography & landscape photography
I'd go for the R50 and grab the Canon 16mm f2.8 RF lens
If i upgrade from a powershot camera 10 years old should i go for a r50 or a r10. Does the r50 has the same flexibility in the terms of manual mode as the r10?
Manual Mode is the same on both
Hello, Fulaan. I need your advice 🙂 I need a budget but decent camera for pet photography indoor and outdoor. What will suit me better R10 with a prime lens or R8 with a kit lens? I have my old 550D and feel very limited 😕
I would grab the R8 and grab a prime lense later on when I had it in the budget.
I am struggling with deciding on a camera. I plan to shoot wildlife, landscapes, and some streets. The video option will be used sparingly; what would you recommend, R50 or R10?
R10
Will these work with my EF-S lenses from 10-15 years ago?
Yes you can get an adapter that will take any EF or EF-s lens
I just subscribed because of your knowledge and foresight. This was exactly the video I needed, I purchased the r50 but the body just isn't useful for me. The grip is way to shallow and I have normal hands.
Even not knowing anything about cameras, I know what I want to accomplish as a photographer/videographer and this video is easy to understand made the decision simple. R10 it is. Thanks.
Glad I could help.
Great Video! Random question - is it worth it to upgrade from the Canon EOS 2000D(Rebel T7) to the Canon R50? Will I notice a huge difference in my photos and videos?
For Photo it may not be that much different depending on how you shoot but for video it's leaps and bounds.
arrived at this video after searching for a vs between these two cameras for photography, based on this info definitely going with the R10 , thank you

Did you get any advantage of 10bit color grading of 4k videos on r50?
Not really as I don't care for the HDR PQ. I just use 8-bit with cinestyle or neutral picture profile

Hello, I am planning to upgrade from Canon EOS 1100D, I mainly photograph cars and I plan to shoot cinematic videos with cars, which would be a better camera in my situation, R10 or R50? Thanks!
Both are very similar. If Budget isn't an issue the R10 has the slight edge.
What lens should i buy with it
The RF 50mm f1.8?
Or should I buy an adapter and use ef lenses because they're cheaper
The new RF 16mm f2.8 is anice lens for the price. The main advantage of EF lenses would be being able to use the viltrox speed booster and the Meike drop in ND adapter.
Can you shoot hdr pq on the r50 with a manual focus lens (with no contacts) in manual mode? if so, how? Or I must be in the hdr shooting mode? In hdr mode it doesn’t start recording 😅 I received it today and I don’t know how to make it work haha
Honestly I'm not sure what's taking place there. HDR PQ should work the same in using manual focus or Auto focus.

I have a question: Do your LUTs work on all cameras equally well or is it better to buy LUTs designed spescifically for Canon M50?
Thanks man! I have used the LUTs on Canon, Lumix and Sony cameras. In my opinion they look equally good on all three.
This was super helpful. Thank you!
You are very welcome.
Should I go for r100 with 50 mm extra lens or r50 just ..?
I like the R50 better as it shoots 4k video and has sone other features that make it worth the extra cost.
So the canon r10 is worth the money for plane spotting and travelling?
I'm just getting into photo and video and have been shooting more with my phone. I was shocked when looking to proper cameras due to their prices, but after watching your videos the r50 seems like a great option as a first camera despite being pretty expensive. Thanks!

You are very welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great advice, thanks!
Thanks for watching and commenting.
And which is the 5th difference? I missed it
Faster Buffer Clearing speed
Do you think the r50 works for sport photography?
It isn't the best at it but can get the job done on a basic level. The issue you may encounter depending on how fast moving your subjects are is 1. Rolling shutter and 2. the burst rates not being fast enough but again it may or may not be an issue for you. If it's more of a hobby then it is fine but if it's for work you may be better off with a camera more suited for that purpose.
very informative, thank you.
You should really add video chapters. It would make it much easier to view the video and come back to parts.
Thanks for the kind comment.
Has anyone bought the filmic preset package? is it worth it??
How is low light with the R10?
It's most def not the strongest camera in that regard but not too bad either.
@FulaanCreative I'll definitely take note on that! I use a nikon p1000 and looking to go back to a more compact level and familiarity of a dslr looking camera when I started out years ago. I like that it's small like my Rebel G film camera I bought recently.
Could I use the R50 for real estate?
Yes you could. Especially if it's your first camera it will be a good starting point.
