One of our residents was harassed and trapped with her dog by an individual from the encampment. Another was cat-called, which is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated in any community. These occurrences are not only a violation of our sense of security but also a blatant disregard for the safety and dignity of your constituents. Despite numerous calls to the city, reports to 311, and emails to your office, we have seen no significant action taken. Our community members have filled out forms, reported the issues through proper channels, and yet, the encampment problem persists, creeping closer to our doorsteps every day. Groundwerx has refused to remove mattresses from the park, stating it is outside their service area. This bureaucratic red tape is not only ridiculous but also indicative of a larger systemic failure within your administration. Council Member Omar Torres and other local advocates like David Pandori have been tirelessly pushing for Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services (PRNS) to address the situation, but their efforts have been met with little to no response. Our community cannot afford to wait any longer for a solution. This is a matter of public safety. The presence of an encampment in such close proximity to our homes is a direct threat to our families and our property. If this situation continues to be ignored, any harm that befalls our community will be a result of your administration's negligence.
