American manufacturing: using the most money, taking the longest time to produce the shittiest of products, yeah!

Why the emphasis on taxpayer money yet you don’t do so when it comes to the military industrial complex? Or other tax subsidies as with real estate vultures/etc.

Overall, I think this is good news and a good thing. The situation in Taiwan is pretty precarious. But just in general, American manufacturing is critical. Even if it's not China aggression… what if there's an Earthquake or a Corona Mass Ejection, what does that mean for computing? Then everyone will be complaining… why didn't the government do something?!
Although… Intel… I have a Mac with an Intel CPU. It runs pretty hot and it's much slower than Apple Silicon. So, hopefully the government isn't wasting this money. Although, maybe this is the start of a redemption arc for Intel.

Intel, you got comfortable and fell years behind your competitors and now need our money to stay alive. Shame on you.

Other developed countries subsidize industries for economic growth. It's necessary for success.

The only problem is - Intel is the only major chip maker in US. All the rest are in Asia TSMC of Taiwan, Samsung of S. Korea, ASMC of China and so on.

Tech companies receiving government funding are pretty ungrateful for the funding that they are receiving.

    Frankly it makes sense.
Intel can only produce 10nm chips, but now Chinese firms can produce 7 to 5nm chips and is lately reported also ramping up thier production by 45%, so please tell me how these things are added up.
