After you cut the parts off of the holders you should sand down the bits that held it on so it is smooth and everything will fit properly.

One bit of advise would be to file down the sprue where you cut the part off the tree. An Exacto knife works well also for cutting the parts from the sprue tree.

I have a 1932 Ford coup I need to put together. I have only had it for 6 years. It has more parts than an army of fire ants. Thanks for the great video.

I know you're finished with this model build now, but you'd be better with the side snips and then file down the excess tabs on the parts. This will help the parts fit together and make the finished model look better.

You can get a higher turn motor for more pulling power and a lower speed, I have a scania r620 and a Mercedes actros both with 90 turn motors in and I can easily pull two reefers up a steep hill. The motor you are using is the one I use in my tamiya hornet and it is very fast. I understand the gears are different but I think a higher turn motor would be good and probably easier to drive.

Owen king 320 motocross I'm with him daggerwin better motor and ESC very nice radio though I have the same one and I've had that ESC that motor before in the past they're just so underpowered for what the capability of that machine really is I'd go with a 90 turn motor as mentioned above but that's an awesome kit I have don't two of them one for me and one for my daughter

Also, if a part on the sprue needs painting, it will be a lot easier to paint it on the sprue rather than removing it and painting it on it's own

Right now I am considering this very same model, but have limited model making ability, but I do have enthusiasm in spades.
Watching your efforts, so far is proving to be most illuminating and useful. I will watch the build to the end, and will then decide whether to commit myself.
I have heard that after market wheel bearings are recommended rather than the ones supplied - your comments would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, and good luck with the project

I've heard the term "parts tree" for the plastic parts holders but there could be a variety of names I would guess. I'm not sure if you're planning on it already but you could use a caliper to measure the screws since they are all jumbled together in those bags. I watched a video series on the kit I'm going to build, also a Tamiya kit and it will be my first time building one too, and that's what they recommended. If you wanted to you could use a magnet tray to hold the screws that you will be using to help keep everything organized and they won't get lost if they happen to roll away. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing the final product!

Four years too late.... But as I'm taking a break from my VERY modified Grand Hauler (as Smokey and the Bandit, Snowman's Truck!!), I just bumped into your Channel.
I've been in the Hobby since 1982.... but I promise I won't call you Rubbish! That's just mean.
MANY People have already pointed out the nubs you left from the Parts Trees. Cleaning it up improves fitment, and just looks better. 😉
KUDOS to you for taking one of these on! Not the easiest.
OK.... I'm sorry to admit, during the first unboxing video, I spent most of the time laughing.. 😂😋 Not necessarily AT you, I was a novice, and remember well.
It's just when you went through the Metal Parts Bags - and EACH time you said "This must be for the Gearbox!" Sorry, but by the fifth bag, I was LOL!
I'm about to watch your whole build series, because I'm interested, and you're tackling it with organisation and care! 👍👍 That will certainly help others who might be apprehensive but interested.
I hope you haven't tossed the whole idea of Semi Trucks by now! 😞 It's expensive but fun.
I'm soon going to release a series on IMPROVING the several Tamiya quirks, especially Suspension slop!!

Hey Dagger this is a little off-topic, but I can't figure out how to message you other than through a video comment so here goes... I am wanting to start my own channel and am wondering how you do the technical end of things... combining speech and video, time lapses, adding music etc... any pointers you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I really love the final effect you come up with, great balance of live action and time lapse, with superb quality throughout.

i collect warhammer that comes on sprues like them and it is better to cut them of with a pair of cutting pliers rather than twist theme of because you could damage the part you are trying to remove. also its best to file of the bits sticking out that were attached to the sprue

  • @LordClunk
    @LordClunk 6 років тому

    Firstly, George. It's pronounced Tam-ee-ya.
    forvo.com/word/tamiya/
Secondly, the plastic bars that you cut the parts off is called 'sprue'
Tamiya kits are very easy if you follow the instructions. I used to collect Tamiya kits, and also used to buy broken Tamiya models, do them up and sell them again. At one point I had 14 of them.
Top tip: NEVER leave the battery stick connected when you aren't using it. In older cars with mechanical speed controllers, they would short out and catch alight. Newer ones less so, but don't take the chance.
Might be a bit late now, but for future reference, buy the bearing upgrade packs for the model. It does make a huge difference. And threadlock. Buy threadlock and use it on everything.
