I worked for 12 years at the Japan Airlines Flight Crew Training Center in Napa, California, (now closed), and we had several young ladies enter the pilot training program. I would have no problem getting on a flight with them as PIC. They worked very hard and were very professional. I wish them the best!
I'm Japanese, and since some people seem to want to know what she says when she cries (2:42), here's the English translation. (Japanese in Roman characters) "Watashi ga kokomade koretano wa...(sobbing)... hontou ni ironna hitoni tasukete moratte, anoo...(filler), tochuu de nankai mo, watashi ha damekamo shirenai to omottann desukeredomo, etto.. (filler) , yatto pairotto tosite sutaato(start) chiten ni tatete, hontouni, hontouni, ureshiku omottemasu. Korekaramo, doukino minnamo, kyoukan gata mo, osewaninatta minasanmo, kongo, suenagaku yoroshiku onegai shimasu." (English Translation) "The reason I've been able to come this far is truly thanks to the help of many people. Along the way, there were countless times when I thought I might not be cut out for it, but I'm truly, truly happy to finally stand at the starting point as a pilot. From here on out, I look forward to a long relationship with my peers, instructors, and everyone who has taken care of me. I humbly ask for your continued support in the future."
it seems like on both times she landed, it was pretty rough, like she didn't care how it landed, although I know she did care. Very proud of her, congrats!
What's a great job the pilot is! Although the chances are opened to everyone, the reality is that the pilot's seats are left only for those gifted persons inborn, there're some fortunes that exist beyond her hands, I believe.
But in the 1st video, she landed very well... On the same video, we can see that there was some crosswinds... and even in this film, we can hear the wind on the camera...
This is a very serious earnest examination. The reason is because it was very glad to pass that she cries. There is no reexamination when not passed. The pilot examination in Japan are given only one time chance for your-life. In the case of not-passed (failure), it is over!
Like many, I don't understand Japanese, but I really wish someone had given us a real, explanatory translation of this special lady's tearful words, obviously so poignant!
R. E. Bruce Martin I remember seeing an English translation of this video a few years ago. She was expressing her gratitude for all her flight instructors help and for believing in her ability to successfully pass all the testing and training. She hopes that she will be the first of many women to become a pilot.
She deserves the job and you desk top jockeys stick just that! Speak when you know what you are talking about! Japan crew are great and maybe others should look in thier back yard if they can understand that
nikozua to help prevent from getting sick 🤒 picking up other people’s germs 🦠 both in the airport and in the flight deck. Pilots and flight attendants are constantly at risk for illness being around sick passengers in close quarters on a plane for hours. The cold and flu season can really hit an airline hard.
YOU visting many times, even though YOU feel a disgusting mind! YOU want be a Pilot? or YOU cant be a Pilot with YOUR skill? or, there are no Pilot in Poland?

All of her landings were excellent, just one where she bounced one or two times, but she did a hell of a job, well done. Congratulations!!
Not easy for a female to be a pilot in Japan due to their culture.
All the 24 months of hard work has finally paid off. Well Done.

I'm so proud of a woman who has earned the fight of every day living!!
I wish I understand her language, to know what she said as she was crying. I think, she have said how hard it was to achieve that goal!
But in the 1st video, she landed very well...
On the same video, we can see that there was some crosswinds... and even in this film, we can hear the wind on the camera...
WOW, nothing short of inspirational!
nice video.
Not so much accidents, but a few mishaps occured in 2004 and 2005. They are very safe, but consumers are very wary.
I believe its a crosswind landing.
Where she may have intentionally landed on one main gear first as a result of a wing down and crabbing approach.
good documentary. hopefully Kaoru is better now with her cross wind landing.....
No issues if she flys my aircraft but I dun get to go on ANA! :(

ah, i see. Thanks for the info.!
Hi ja092017
Thanks for the Comment
Grettings
Captain. Villarreal !
2 questions:
1) when is this taking place?
2) what does she say when talking while crying?
Well done to her and any pilot that gets to that level Male or Female.
all this is historical and became the first woman aviator in ANA air lines!

dude.. if i managed to graduate and become ANA pilot, i would cry too, just like her.. or worst.
JAL had a lot of accidents, people are more tempted to fly with ANA. I personally like ANA more.

Congratulations!!!
Yes, she has just certified by the Japanese government as a commercial pilot!
all this is historical and became the first woman aviator in ANA airlines!!!!!!
Awesome!!!
Nice video...=)

If I may, I'd liove to find a wife or a lovely friend like this woman.
She ain't bad-looking either, and being a pilot, makes her kinda hot.
Origato I love
772's gear each have 6 wheels.

Boeing 767-300ERGE ANA
It´s a 767-300.
Need the translation. What do you think she is saying? lol
I don't know why more females aren't pilots; it's a great occupation.
ya when she rides my B767 LR she will cry more!
You took it out of context. That's not what it's supposed to mean..
lol theyre laughing when she cries cuz theyre like "lol we expected this, its a girl after all"
I was expecting cute high school girls flying a huge mecca airbus robot jetliner
Omedetou
I need Teke my first flaygt with ANA
