Hello and thank you for watching! The fountain in this video is on the outskirts of Gyumri so it might not be the best to show you some of those things, however, here is a playlist of all of my Armenia walking videos which will show you those things: ua-cam.com/play/PLF_py3Xyge9PFVyKLek6xV3lzPoc8NTxf.html

Very cool video. I hear really good front to back positioning, but left to right is not so clear…

That's an intriguing observation. The sound was recorded in first order ambisonics and then encoded for binaural. Surely, some of the spatiality was lost during that process. Also, because of the wonderful variety of human ears and head shapes we all hear things a bit differently. Therefore it makes sense that you could perceive the sound this way. There's other things to consider as well, like the gear, for example. Anyway, thanks for watching. I wonder if you have had the same experience with the other videos I made like this?

@@SpectralEvolver hi. Thanks for the reply. I have one of these arriving tomorrow and look forward to learning how to get the best from it. I only plan to use it for field recording when I want to record sounds from all directions, rather than for video use. I wonder if your process will be best for that or if there’s a more direct route to binaural.
I watched a couple more of your videos but will watch the rest tonight, especially those using this gadget. Pretty cool way to see a new city too…

@@BarnabyNutt Well said and thank you! Yes, this microphone is an excellent option for recording sound from all directions. The tetrahedral microphone array is excellent for doing that, the more difficult part is decoding and listening to it (most people don't have a speaker set-up to accommodate this, thus the encoding for binaural and typical use of headphones.) There is a more direct route to binaural, for example you could simply record with a binaural microphone. In any case, this is a good and pretty reasonable place to start. Let me know how it goes!
