I was there! It was at an old industrial port called Aker Brygge, which was then being partially demolished and has later become a fancy shopping area, right in the centre of Oslo. The crowd was waiting for the concert, there was a screen, the screen was removed and we all moved forward to the actual improvised stage, which was next to a big pit that had been dug out for construction work. It was all dark with flood lights only some places, as you can see. The industrial setting could not have been better. And then they started playing. It was a shock. The atmosphere cannot be described.
I also was there. An amazing show, that I never will forget. Aker Mek was transformed, from mechanics via industrial music and transformed later on to a trap of capitalism.
Dette klippet er fra de spilte på Lambrettas atelier på Lakkergata skole i 1983. Konserten på Aker Brygge var i 1984. Begge showene var helt fantastiske.
Ah, finally found this. I remember seeing parts of this on swedish television some time in the 80s. Made a Huge impact on me, one of the earliest things that started my love for abstract and avantgarde music.
Alex Hacke talks about it on the Liebeslieder DVD and says they came within one inch of a huge power cable. So they were lucky! They were stopped eventually!
in this year they played their first gig in London supporting The Birthday Party. That was a highly charged event. Infact the intensity of the (strangely beautiful) negativity of the atmosphere there is something I can still conjure up. Anyone else out there go to that one?
Not quite sure, since the video clip is not the whole song, but I'm pretty sure it appears on the 80-83 compilation "Strategies Against Architecture" (Released 1988).
I am Norwegian and I met a guy how went to this legendary concert. He told me that something went terrible wrong with the drilling... I have tried and tried to find some info about it but I cant. Guess it some kind of urban legend... Or?
they gave 2 shows within less than a year in oslo (83/84), the first one took place at a space called slurpen, as that the story goes- the powerdrill went right trough the concrete floor, causing massive damages in the structure. the other story is probably refering to the second concert, at nyland verksted - now a tourist trap called aker brygge.
Great video! I am looking for the archives of their concert in Brussels that same year (March 1983). Is there anyone out there who can help me with this ? Thank you !

Wow, a blast from the past. Brings back great memories!! Where can I find that whole show?
Could you imagine listening to this after working all day in a factory?
