I feel a little bad when we'd sweep a team in turf - with them having less than 25% on their side - when it's very apparent they are new. I know what its like to be in a one sided fight and be curb stomped without mercy. But my first instinct is to not coddle new players in solo q. I don't go out of the way to be extra mean or anything, I just focus on turfing, splat when they're in my way and that's kind of it. New player doesn't equal young player or inexperienced.
What I've heard is that splatoon tries to match you up with players with a similar win/loss ratio when you first join the lobby (the first person/top name in the lobby is how they judge). I don't know what a new player has by default, but squid partiers probably have as close to even wins/losses as possible, since no one does anything.
I've read on a splatoon wiki that all the weapons use a point system in the coding. "I'm going to try to get to X rank in one week." Shouldn't be too hard, most X rank players are glorified S+ players. Also, will you ever try a splatlocke like what Alphastar did?
As somebody who helps friends into splatoon, I often have to make them throw three or four games and leave the lobby each time just to find some bad players Also, when you were playing like a baby player, you used squid form too much. Most new players literally just bomb and shoot till they're out of ink and never use squid form for movement Sidenote, I believe the turf war matchmaking bases your matches off of your win rate, so you got squid parties out the wazoo because you were being matched with others with low win rates
I also thought the first lines "Think you're too cool for school? Well, it's time to prove it in battle" were kinda cringy and a lame attempt from Nintendo to be hip, not to mention these lines have nothing to do with Splatoon's story or gameplay. Also love how it matched you with 99 star players on you very first match, classic Splatoon 2 matchmaking. Gotta love all of those Squid Parties too lol. Truly what the Splatoon 2 experience looks like.
I am so excited for the upcoming videos, as someone who made a smurf account to practice charger and not embarrass myself, I felt validated because I too laughed when I broke character to take a cocky newbie down a couple notches 🤣
Partying in public lobbies is super frustrating in general, as a player that plays turf war to be competitive. Unless someone disconnects, having your teammates do literally nothing really ruins the experience. Please do parties in private lobbies where others won't be disturbed.
Honestly I've never really had an issue with squid parties and don't entirely get why people hate them so much. It kinda just reminds me that overall this is funni squid game and i really shouldn't get so worked up about it, relaxing and having some fun just messin around with the other team. Though i have nothing even close to a competetive personality so that may be why
(i know this comment is months old but just wanna add my two cents) i think the main reasons people find them frustrating is A) people attempting to randomly start one mid match and B) squid parties are all well and good when everybody is in on them but most of the time, from my experience its just one or two people partying who can't seem to read the room and see that people are annoyed with them. yea ik there isnt a chat in Splatoon but i feel like people splatting you a *ton* when you're trying to party is a pretty clear indicator that you need to stop partying and actually play the game lmao
@@KeybladeMasterVicky idk it usually takes awhile before an entire lobby ends a squid party as a squid partier myself I there is usually one person who plays competitive like before giving up and just joining in it's also stress reliving when you loosing streak of something like that give you time to cool off before going back to being competitive and stuff
I don't know a lobby of people standing around doing nothing isn't super innacurate for a splatoon 2 experience tbh it does give new players a taste for the player base 😶
This was such a funny video to watch. I look forward to the rest of the series, lmao. I feel like I remember playing against a Not Chara but I'm sure I wasn't playing turf during the rotation in the video. 🤔 Maybe I'm mistaken, unless this was an old recording and you already hit X rank or something.
Coming to this video after the Splatoon 3 direct It's great that they will let you skip playing turf to reach level 10 to unlock rank if you have save data in Splatoon 2 Now you don't have to grind in turf now if you wanna play rank immediately
I think maybe the reason why you barely get low level players is because it might be based on their win/loss ratio rather than level, its probably pretty impossible to find low level lobbies nowadays so maybe its just pairing you up with squid partiers that just dont win
I think once you get to ranked if you are actually trying you will skip from C to B, B to A, A to S etc. Like if you are seriously way better than that rank it will skip the -/+ and put you to the next letter. So it should go fairly quickly. Your video shows how atrocious low level play is and how frustrating it can be for new players. I have an eight year old son who I play with sometimes and even when we get on the same team in turf we sometimes lose because we are basically 2v4, if not literally 2v4. In turf I always tell him the whole strategy is based on being alive for the last 20 seconds or so, that will win the battle like 90% of the time. Obviously there isn't a 'meme' mode but maybe there should be. Or not because then all the throwers and squidpartiers would go to the 'game' mode lobbies for funsies.
I feel like an actual squid party mode would be cool. Like crusty Sean could open up an actual shop/restaurant and we can go there for our boosts or connect via internet to chat in game or join in game private battles designated for squid parties, custom rules for self made games like hide and seek, etc. I think that would be such an amazing add on, but it'll probably never happen.
I have to say during launch I had a hard time with the game simply because I played Splatoon 1 so much. The changes were so weird, and it was hard to switch for a while. I came back to it sometime later and I had such a hard time leveling up even though I did adapt to it pretty quickly this time. I didn't have a hard time against the other team, I just felt like I had to carry my entire team most of the time. Even now I'm in X rank and have stayed there for some time but when it comes to the other modes I have a hard time finding a solid team to where I can actually rank up in those other modes.
I feel the exact same about moving to Splatoon 2, I didn't play it as much as Splatoon 1 because the changes were so vast in some cases it felt like an entirely different playstyle I had to retrain myself into. I've gotten back into it before the release of Splatoon 3, because my Switch had to be replaced due to a manufacturer error I've had to start from scratch. It's interesting coming back to it now but I'm doing my best to adapt, some skills are still useful as ever at least like bomb sniping. The focus on more complex and team oriented specials is going to take a lot longer to get used to, I can't just murder the whole team with inkzooka anymore. Overall changed for the better but will miss the hilariously broken stuff like disruptor
@BluTofu I hope I don't lol, I was just saying because almost every combination has some form of purple/pink. I really love the pink-light blue match up but it only appears in turf war. I get them choosing colors that are easier to see in for a more competitive mode but this seems a little absurd. I find pretty much every ranked color combo rather hideous tbh. I pray they change this in 3. Makes pretty much zero sense.
I’m a brand new player as of yesterday, and tbh I dont even know enough about how things are supposed to go to realize when people are throwing. I just Distribute Ink
Wtf I never get turf lobbies like this anymore, I miss them! Impromptu squid parties and you just keep rejoining the same lobby... idk why it’s so entertaining to me Especially now that I play ranked (badly), Turf War basically means “do whatever”
when i got splat2 in june 2022 it was just intense turf wars with high lvl accounts. ive never experienced a squid party in turf war(when i was new) 💀 i understand why tho
The hard part of climbing on a second account, having to fork another $20 just to do this. But doing challenges to yourself like a Splatlocke or limiting yourself to specific weapons can make the rank climb more engaging. I recently did a ranked climb from C- to X by only using Brellas, and it was hard.
If you think about it, it makes sense why you got so many squid parties. All those players the game sees as low skilled since they just don't play the game. So a new player is gonna be put with said lower players untill you can prove you know how to play the game well
Love how well you were able to fake being a noob! The only reason I know that that’s what they do is because my little siblings play the game every now and then. How did you know?
Imagine getting in a lobby with a level one, thinking to yourself "we're about to win so hard" just to have your entire team wiped by that very same level 1
This was one of my favs on switch, and I come back to it occasionally because it is my favorite shooter. I usually play ranked so I didn’t know how many people squid party.
Real talk though, I think that if you wanted to act like a noob, don't do techniques or overly technical things like Substraphing, or going into squidform while using a special. Mindlessly run up to the opponent and try to splat them without any real plan if you want to make yourself look like an unexperienced, out of practice gamer and act like you don't even know what a controller is if you want to act like a boomer. Aside from this, I agree with a lot of people on this, especially with the person who you pinned called inline885, the squidparties, the throwers, and the online all make the early game kind of depressing. Though it is something I got through enough when I first played the game, and it'll be something all who are genuinely devoted to the game will get into, the problems are just really sad though.
The reason why you saw the octo expansion stuff is that the game still lets you access the DLC on other profiles if the main account for the switch has the DLC purchased
I got splat 3 and stopped playing 2, and then I played it again and it’s such a easy turf war scene now, even level 30s are worse then my 20 level char, it’s sad that all the competition went to ranked and league.
I’m going to get Splatoon 2 soon, and I just got a switch recently. I’m kind of uncertain if I should get Splatoon 2 or not because Splatoon 3 will be coming soon. Edit: After watching the video: I feel like I shouldn’t get Splatoon 2… I feel like I wouldn’t have fun in pvp. I don’t want to just play pve (story/salmon run).
The matchmaking in Splatoon 2 is horrible now. I’ve learned it only because not enough people play the game because whenever a new Splatoon 3 announcement happens the matchmaking is a lot more accurate. I’m sure when Splatoon 3 drops the matchmaking will be 100x better because of the playerbase

This was funny. I look forward to the next one. Can’t wait to see you play ranked and find a toxic player and end them.
As somebody who helps friends into splatoon, I often have to make them throw three or four games and leave the lobby each time just to find some bad players
Also, when you were playing like a baby player, you used squid form too much. Most new players literally just bomb and shoot till they're out of ink and never use squid form for movement
Sidenote, I believe the turf war matchmaking bases your matches off of your win rate, so you got squid parties out the wazoo because you were being matched with others with low win rates
Thats why you are supposed to do the single player first, it should teach you the basics of the game and atleast slightly train your aim and reflexes.
I honestly love this type of content where chara just fucks around LMAO
I am so excited for the upcoming videos, as someone who made a smurf account to practice charger and not embarrass myself, I felt validated because I too laughed when I broke character to take a cocky newbie down a couple notches 🤣
Damn I feel a little bad for partying in turf now :(
I guess I'll check if there are new players before I do now
Party in private lobbies, that’s literally why they were created
Partying in public lobbies is super frustrating in general, as a player that plays turf war to be competitive. Unless someone disconnects, having your teammates do literally nothing really ruins the experience.
Please do parties in private lobbies where others won't be disturbed.
turf isnt always like that, squid party lobbies are usually rare
Honestly I've never really had an issue with squid parties and don't entirely get why people hate them so much. It kinda just reminds me that overall this is funni squid game and i really shouldn't get so worked up about it, relaxing and having some fun just messin around with the other team. Though i have nothing even close to a competetive personality so that may be why
i like squid parties once in a while but its another thing altogether to find one in the very first match on a fresh account
You forgot the “low ink” noob thing :P
Where they try to throw a bomb, but fail 5 times, try to shoot but fail for a whole 10 seconds.
Etc
"Oh wait, I'm supposed to be bad" lol
I don't know a lobby of people standing around doing nothing isn't super innacurate for a splatoon 2 experience tbh it does give new players a taste for the player base 😶
I will 100% watch this series start to beginning
So excited for the rest of this! It was soooo fun to watch!
This was such a funny video to watch. I look forward to the rest of the series, lmao.
I feel like I remember playing against a Not Chara but I'm sure I wasn't playing turf during the rotation in the video. 🤔
Maybe I'm mistaken, unless this was an old recording and you already hit X rank or something.
“Make the enemy think you are an ally, then surprise them when they least expect it.”
~ Sun Tzu, Are of War probably
To act like a baby player you gotta walk more and swim less
Coming to this video after the Splatoon 3 direct
It's great that they will let you skip playing turf to reach level 10 to unlock rank if you have save data in Splatoon 2
Now you don't have to grind in turf now if you wanna play rank immediately
8:16
BRO THAT OCTOLING THAT HAD THE USERNAME GIRLBOSS WAS ME😭🙏
7:00 BRO that was actually funny af AHAHAH
I think maybe the reason why you barely get low level players is because it might be based on their win/loss ratio rather than level, its probably pretty impossible to find low level lobbies nowadays so maybe its just pairing you up with squid partiers that just dont win
pearl becomes splatoon 3 sussy villian
Tf
Dude was pretending to be stupid so hard he legit forgot what he was doing I love this guy
Overall changed for the better but will miss the hilariously broken stuff like disruptor
oh god i was the jet squelcher at 11:36 and that ledge was literally the death of me 😭😭 sorry i rayed you 💀💀
I'm surprised, cuz I never encounter this many squidparties
Honestly one of my favourite videos ever.
The real crime is that only Turf gets actual colors.
Ranked is just
Purple.
@BluTofu I will check tho
I’m a brand new player as of yesterday, and tbh I dont even know enough about how things are supposed to go to realize when people are throwing. I just Distribute Ink
well honestly most inklings not knowing what octolings are makes sense since they thought they went extinct after the war
Wtf I never get turf lobbies like this anymore, I miss them! Impromptu squid parties and you just keep rejoining the same lobby... idk why it’s so entertaining to me
Especially now that I play ranked (badly), Turf War basically means “do whatever”
The way you use the camera when you’re serious- that in itself shows me that you’re a pro player lol
"hey roller wanna be friends :D"
* shoots at him *
*"that's it."*
starts beating the shit out of the other team
When I got the game in 2018, I didn’t encounter this many squid parties in the early levels.
when i got splat2 in june 2022 it was just intense turf wars with high lvl accounts. ive never experienced a squid party in turf war(when i was new) 💀 i understand why tho
This was the most hilarious thing I've watched all day
But it is only 7:00 in the morning...
The pain when you just want to do a little bit of splatoon turf, and your only game is a squid party.
That’s really weird, I mainly play turf but have only run into about 3 squid party. I guess Australia is more competitive...
Squid parties are dumb, but i just leave them alone now and just paint. If they attack me, well, they’re dead.
i think that low levels have a lot of parties because of people who party have low skill level, and then it places u in them when ur new
Makes me think the level requirement for gear shops shouldve been like... level 2.
9:46 that moment the level 2 player has more kills than the other players combined.
Im loving this new content! Keep up these challenges.
Learning Chara used to play 0.5 when ive always played full sensitiveity makes me wanna cry
This video is Chara trying to act like a noob and then giving up
I legit couldn’t stop laughing, best video I have seen on Monday morning
Imagine getting in a lobby with a level one, thinking to yourself "we're about to win so hard" just to have your entire team wiped by that very same level 1
ngl Chara you throw the bombs too fast to be a baby, they always seem to deliberate where theyre going to throw it
“Mom said it’s my turn on the Splatoon”
Also missed opportunity to make your name “NoobChara” instead of ProChara
1:10 Octo speed runs don’t start until after the octo character creation screen (at which point you can already change the sensitivity)
I’m still at b rank from not playing Splatoon 2 in a while, and it is very hard to rank up these days.
This was one of my favs on switch, and I come back to it occasionally because it is my favorite shooter. I usually play ranked so I didn’t know how many people squid party.
Squid party become pretty annoying when you just want to play the game
In turf war there is a lot of squid party's when I join lobby's and I party with them
I got splat 3 and stopped playing 2, and then I played it again and it’s such a easy turf war scene now, even level 30s are worse then my 20 level char, it’s sad that all the competition went to ranked and league.
Must be a region thing... in Australia we seem to be playing Asia..... so the experience is completely the opposite
I like how the instant you “ruin their fun” they instantly start running you down lol
Hey Chara! I think I just play with you, you were using dualies :D, I was the one with a charger , I send you a friend request!
7:10 CHARA NOOOOO THATS BULLYING
IM DYING THO LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO
The Jr bait on the shot and your laugh afterwards xDDDD
