In the 2nd room, you missed that the painting moved & the candles spelled out “VOID.” That’s why the lights went out; to show the candles. You got it accidentally, but I was like, look at the wall! lol
If I were actually stuck in a room and a 3 digit combination lock was keeping me from leaving, I'd start going through every possible combination. Heck, I've done it for those locks simply because I forgot the combo and wanted to use it.
