Thank you guys for all the videos, as a towny that has an interest in agriculture i enjoy watching everything use put out. I wish I had of went to greenmount and learned abit about farming and cattle. And knowing this is made in Antrim makes it all the better. Keep it up guys!!!
Just a little tip for Alan and his cable ties if u stick one into the other u have one that's twice the length extra few inches makes all the the difference 🙈😂
Just on the point regarding 'most use of fertiliser' and applying early. I'm not sure when this was filmed, but as long as ground isn't completely waterlogged (in which case you couldn't spread anyway), the fertiliser wont just disappear if you get it on early, it's always worth it to get it on early to silage or grazing ground, NPK will remain in the ground until the growth comes.
Aye some of the ground wouldn't have carried tractor, drying up rightly now though and most of fert out. What's the opinion on sowing fert right before or right after spreading slurry?
@@alanclyde8253 Ah right very understandable then so. The only fert I would leave a week between is Urea. Everything else I would just get it on as is convenient.
For this friday can you do the on the pull with the mx150 it think was in cloughmills or was in Dunloy in it I would love to just see that one and that would do me thanks in advance I love that certain tractor
I'm farming just outside Ramelton in County Donegal. Ramelton was a plantation town and the local farming community many of whom are of Ulster Scots bloodlines still use the word SLAP to describe the entrance into a field. Most people in the south of Ireland use the word gap and as John mentioned in this video i often wondered did someone hear GAP wrong ,mispronounced it as SLAP and the name stuck. If you think SLAP is Ulster Scots then i'm sticking with it.
I don't know how old this video is but l would start slipping a few outside especially as the weather has dried up alot, get the quad bike and trailor and get them outside, those bf ewes aren't breed for in a shed anyways.
@@oisinfurlong7186 there will be but might be on the main farmflix site not youtube. Things are a bit strange at the minute but will try keep as much content coming as possible
Man must have great intentions of having all these fences to keep the stock off the roads. Pity he doesn't have the time to put the post driver to use and not just sitting on the tractor every vid 😂😂
The prefect cow is only as good if u find the perfect bull to use on her , if she rears a good calf every year with very few troubles, I reckon she's the perfect cow for me anyway
get sheep that theres less work with if theres such a thing lol but there are sheep better than others good brown faced ewes and very good charollais ram/tip lambs born small but finish extremlly well from birth to finish 12/14 weeks with good grass and intensive lamb pellets from they are fit to eat any ewes with handle bars are a no go not unless you put them on a mountain
Can see me trying that again down the line a bit, theory is sound but it can work into a lot of money. Works well when lucks on your side...I'm never that lucky😂
Great vid. I liked Tom's singing, did he just make that song up! It was nice to see the lambs, glad lambing is going well after a shakey start.
Dear knows what song he was singing or changing to his own words😂
Fair pair of lungs of auld Tom😂
Serious man all together😂😂

Looking good Alen x

Thanks boss. Appreciate it
We need more videos with Alan he brings that reality to farming it's real I like his videos. Keep up the good work 👍
Are you going for the buzz cut look on the merlo tyres 🤔
😂😂 one way to describe it
We use "Redding up" here in Scotland to though here it's used to describe tidying up
Aye we would use it for that term as well. A multipurpose phrase😉
Yeah somthing I have noticed since I started watching farmflix is the amount of frazes used by both Scots and Irish

“Slap an opening”
comes from Ulster Scots, slap is a small opening or passage in a hedge I believe. Great videos lads keep it up.👍

Haha cheers for putting my comment in the video lads 👍🏻 I know what “redding up” means now 🤣
I'd say a lot of people didn't know😉
Put every sheep you can into the reseed Alan it thickens it up great
That's definitely one thing the sheep are good for is thickening up a sward😉
why did u not move it round bales before putting it machines in the shed
Have enough round bales sitting in another bit to keep me going before I do a big reshuffle of everything😉
Nice to see see yous back, nice distraction from my work at the hospital at the minute. How’s the tyre fund going?
Getting there
Love the Abercrombie trakkie bottoms

when is Alan going to get new tyres for the merlo
When he gets money to do so, beef and sheep are nearly always losing money, its more about minimizing the losses
Or when they sell a certain amount of beanie hats (300 I think) john will donate a 1000 pound towards them
First Sunday there’s no mass... so any day now with this virus 😂😂
Hopefully before silage😁
