- Mr. Coleman has been tasked with taking care of his grandson Robert for the foreseeable future. He feels his grandson has been too spoiled and is determined to teach the young boy some discipline. Despite doing the majority of his chores and getting all As and Bs on his report card, Robert is still being punished. After Robert makes a comment about what they are about to eat for dinner, Mr. Coleman snaps. He gets so enraged that he locks the young boy in the utility shed outside.

He was the worst grandpa ever. He clearly treated this kid like he was not wanted, and a burden. You never lock a kid up no matter what you are trying to teach them. Locking a kid up is abuse. Smart kid he had his phone, and called the police. You can give a kid time out in his room. Grandpa got what he deserved.
Right if the child doesn't want to eat what's in front of them. Then you tell them ok I guess your not very hungry your excuse from the table. But you don't lock them up in a shed or anywhere

Yeah. And Captain James Porter says that Mr. Coleman is under arrest as punishment for false imprisonment, child neglect, endangerment and cruel treatment from the start.
I grew up with parents like the grandpa who expected me to get nothing but high honors in school. Now I'm low contact with my parents and putting myself through college and I have an unhealthy relationship with myself when it comes to grades(ex. Calling myself stupid for getting an 85, or doing poorly on a test after I've studied because I have test anxiety)

@@lisahowell5048 thanks. Im taking it slow and only taking one to two classes a semester so I can focus and not get to overwhelmed. I wouldn't be surprised if the boy's parents disowned the Grandfather for putting their son in danger. That's just pure abuse. I always love it when the cop looking like an ordinary man then says: "The Police are already here." in response to the threat of the police being called on them.
If not killed him.
Tell me about it, he’s an awful grandfather
Fr bro is so rude
I grew up with a mom who treated me pretty much the same way...no screen or games, not allowed to have a phone or computer or TV, eat what is put in front of you or go to bed hungry, locked me in my room a ton of times, I was made to stay in my room and be quiet and not come out untill called for, not allowed to speak to kids at school or make friends, no sports or club, not allowed to leave the house without permission and her watching my every move, not allowed to wander on my own inside a store, she would scream if she ever lost sight of me while outside the home. I had to live like that til I was 25, it was torcher, I am now 28 and struggling to learn to live a normal life and how to interact with the outside world

I have autism and I didn't see my grandparents every day, but even if I did act in a manner like that boy did, which of course I never did, they still would never have treated me like that. I never even got interested in PS games anyways, I'm an old-school type, and I'd rather play old board games like Monopoly for example, and that was what we used to play, and I always lived with my parents, and I always got homework done even though I hated it more than anything else of my life, and I did go camping with my grandparents a few times, and I did help wash and dry dishes when they needed to be done, and I even gave their miniature pincher dogs some food for them too. And I also enjoyed helping them hitch and unhitch their fifth wheel camper trailer to and from their pickup truck and put up and take down water, electric, and sewer lines too. Sure it was a two door truck and the second row had solid walls instead of swinging doors, which made it look like a dog cage, but that wasn't a problem to me. When we had to go to the bathroom, my grandma flipped her seat forward to get me out, and then when I got in, I pulled her seat back for her to get it. Also both walls on both sides of the second row happened to have cupholders, so I wouldn't have had to hold my pop cans in my hands at all, it was a 1995 Ford DIESEL F-250, and DIESEL because of the trailer's weight, and if they had a four doored DIESEL, I would have had an easier way in and out, but then there wouldn't have been any cupholders for me. So that two doored truck worked fine. But still, even if I did something they weren't happy about, they would still never have behaved like that mean old man did, so I was lucky, too bad that boy Robert wasn't, and I hope he got the justice he deserved and that his grandpa served time in jail.
No way. I'm autistic too. And I also love Monopoly. But my father wasn't really the patient type because he USE TO take his frustration out on me and my mother and my brother. And my uncle also USE TO treat every teeny-tiny mistake I've made like I'm causing the end of the world. Though things are now good between all of us, I still have trauma from those events. Sometimes, I just think that they probably should've done some research on autism. Just so they could learn to be patient or something
@@benmunn7593 7
I'm sorry, @@murieljackson2976, what?
@@benmunn7593 Well at least my parents didn't get that badly impatient with me on Monopoly, but over the years, I did get better, and it's too bad we don't get to play as much together as we did before because we live far away from each other now, but I'm sorry your dad and uncle had been disrespectful to you, at least I hope they did more research on autism to understand better than before.
Now, @@ericwood7019, I love Monopoly. And I don't think so. But least they're calmer now. And only impatient to a degree. Like when I get my dinner ready. I try to balance taking some but not too much so my family can have a generous amount and make sure my food isn't touching as well. Annoys me when they tell me to hurry up. Can you relate

Now for another on-the-spot epilogue:
-------------------------------------------------------------
No matter how big a fight he put up against Captain Porter and his crew (including his defiant breach of the Miranda warning), Mr. Coleman's defense-mode, high-bar ways were of no concern to them as they hauled him away downtown to have him answer to the blind eyes of justice. And sure enough, with a unanimous guilty verdict of false imprisonment and child endangerment handed down upon him, into solitary confinement for quite a while went Mr. Coleman, so that he could-in Captain Porter's words-get a taste of his own medicine. As for his lawyer cousin... as a regular Perry Mason as he was, he wasn't coming to Mr. Coleman's aid anytime soon... or anytime at all, for that matter: ever since the two met, Mr. Coleman cheated on all his taxes, claiming to be "under audit on RCCMS for serving in the war"-when in reality as a soldier, he faked injuries left and right just to get off easy; and as a result, was drummed out of the service. In fact, the only ailment he'd developed was PTSD and dementia-in light of his goldbricking catching up with him. With nowhere left to turn, he moved back home to Mango Park and lived the rest of his days as a recluse depending on food stamps and whatever unemployment checks came his way, since Robert's parents wanted nothing more to do with him up until that car accident that tore this family apart. And no way was the cousin falling for any of Mr. Coleman's tricks again. So with nothing left to live for, there in that hole was Robert's now ex-grandpa, where he continued to stomp about that dark expanse, loudly cursing Robert for not measuring up to _his_ "High Honors" standards and inflicting harm upon himself with every word of it up until his dying day.
When Robert's dad heard the news that Mr. Coleman had been arrested for locking Robert away in the shed, he was more distraught than any widowed dad had ever felt. Sure, he may have wanted what was best for Robert in life (and so did Robert's late mom), but this wasn't how he expected it to go. Without a moment's delay, he rang up Mr. Coleman's cousin and requested a hearing to try and get Robert back. After much deliberation about the courtroom, and all the necessary paperwork filled, both father and son were reunited. Robert's dad apologized for caving in and leaving his son in his grandpa's care without reading the fine print, and vowed to be a better parent starting forward. According to him, he abandoned Robert at Mr. Coleman's place not just because Mr. C was the only living person left in the family other than hm, but also he was already that upset with losing his wife all too suddenly-and he felt he'd better off without him too. Ever since the day of her funeral, he had grown so despondent that he willfully became a deadbeat-since the mom had nothing in her will to leave either of them. But now that word had gotten out, he realized this was a thing _he_ wouldn't do to his own son. With everything forgiven, they took off for another part of town to start all over again.
_They tell me I am well past my prime, the landlord in the sky's calling time._
_But there's one thing that he ought to know: I am not yet ready to go!_
_I know I'm old, but I'm not a freak; I should be cherished like an antique,_
_But every time I have a slight cough, I'm worried they'll start switching me off._
-Eric Idle, theme from the BBC sitcom "One Foot in the Grave" (1996)
Recently the police no longer have to read you your Miranda rights to arrest you, due to a court decision.

@@JonathanMartinez-vh6vo Ditto.
The mother passed away and the father walked out
The dad went to the store and never came back with the milk
It's unfortunate, things like this really do happen. It seems like the grandfather portrayed here, is angry about his loss of his child and feeling dumped on by the circumstances surrounding him. I know this situation personally. It's easy to feel anxiety and pain from what life dealt you. My husband and I adopted our twin granddaughters after their mother pretty much abandoned them. Our son was not in a good place and he was in no shape to raise new born twins. There are days where things happen and it takes a lot of stepping back before I blow. I have to remember these twins are here, they are gifts, and they didn't choose where they are either. Also, they are definitely growing up in a different world filled with so much technology and chaos surrounding them. It's hard... harder than I ever thought possible. I know the feeling of being overwhelmed. I find myself locking myself into my room for a time out and a regrouping of my sanity. I don't leave them alone of course, but the reality of the entire situation is it's hard. I'm older and was set in my ways. Quiet time reading a book around a clean structured home has flown out with the cookoo birds. Love makes up for a lot of mistakes, but children are never a mistake. Find a support system, don't be afraid to ask for help, try to just breathe from one breath until the next. This is not the same parenting world it was 35 years ago... but we are never too old to learn.
Thanks for bringing this "real" to light.
It really isn’t an excuse for what he did though. That is completely against the law. Like I said I just really hope that his sentencing was life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
@@shiannamariestentt no excuse whatsoever! People don't treat most animals the way will treat a child. Personally, an equal, similar treatment is what I think they should have.
