  • In this video I breakdown how to set up and shoot a mouth tab bow.
If you have use of only one hand/arm and are interested in archery or are a bowhunter but sustained an injury that might have you sitting a bow season out, the mouth tab is a great option.
After spending a year hunting and learning the craft due to an injury of my own, I decided to do a video on the process for those interested.
I found that the hardest part in the initial set up was actually making a tab. My friends at Stone Glacier made a bunch up for me... and they are giving them to people who need them for FREE!
If you need one this is our gift to you, to help you through the process. You can find them at the link below.

A few years ago I totally trashed my shoulder after 25 years of bow hunting. After several attempts, it broke my heart to have to hang my bow up. I rifle hunted, but I’d have to say my heart wasn’t in it like it did with a bow. Now that I’ve seen this, I just may have to give it a go. In my state you can get a multi season tag in which you can extend your season by being able to hunt archery, modern and muzzle loader seasons. If I have any questions, I hope that I can drop you a line.

Thanks for this video! I recently broke my right arm and 3 ribs. I am currently in the process of setting up an older bow so I can start shooting with a mouth tab.

This was a great video, I saw a man with no hand shooting with a mouth tab and wanted to know more about it. Do you have a video that explains what happened to your arm or do you choose to just shoot with a mouth tab?

How about a "rehab" style video about your wrist? I had an IED strike in Iraq, followed by elbows "ulnar nerve replacement surgery".
I have always wanted to try archery but....
sometimes my right hand goes stupid during certain movements.
Any help would be appreciated! Keep moving forward.

This will really mess with cross bow folks who stubbed a toe and use one now. 😅

Is it something you would stick with even if you were able to use your other arm? Being able to be at full draw and have a hand free would seem to have some benefits.

As a dentist, I wonder how much this can traumatize your teeth and temporomandibular joint.

I've tried several different styles and found this style of mouth tab works best for me. I recommend using a medium size polyester paracord rather than nylon because it is a bit stiffer and nylon starts to shrivel up after it gets wet from repeated use. The main advantages of this method are as follows:
    1. No sewing required.
    2. You can easily put on/take off a d-loop without having to remove the d-loop.
    3. Lasts way longer than the other methods after repeated use.
