Naveen, you really know how to make me smile in this videos! 😆 Those faces you make when realizing you just gave the game to Monique. It’s just so funny 🤩👏👏🫶 Love your videos guys! Keep it up with the Uwe Rosenberg series, please!! It’s great!
Rewatching this after watching your Oranienburger Kanal playthrough made me realize Uwe was probably using this game as inspiration for the core mechanics of OKanal.
Thanks for the fun playthrough; I've been waiting for this one because I also recently acquired this game and am going to be playing it soon. I'm kind of a sucker for, "small versions," of big games because frankly I am lazy, setting up Agricola/Caverna is daunting, and (since I have the attention span of a goldfish) I tend to get antsy with 2 hour games. The Inland Port is strange: I didn't care for it at first, but we hauled it out a few weeks ago, gave it a couple of tries, and it is much better than I remember. The resource management is truly unique, and it can also been super tense if you gun after someone's building they've been quietly cultivating. Maybe after the series is done, you can give it a try so we can all see the different 2 player Uwe games. Thanks!
Totally know what you mean about pulling out the big versions lol. It's nice to just open the box, shuffle, and play. We will definitely try and see if we can find The Inland Port, Naveen now wants to try it after playing the Agricola and Caverna small boxes.
Love this series! I’ve recently purchased Hallertau, Nusfjord, and Fields of Arle in large part because of watching y’all play them and have really enjoyed all three :). I was considering selling Cave vs. Cave because, as you mentioned, I didn’t really like it the first time I played it a while back. Just thought it was okay and this was the most disappointed I’d been of the 10-11 or so Uwe games I’ve played this far, and especially given how much I love both Caverna and Agricola: ACB&S. But your playthrough convinced me I should give it another go and then reevaluate whether I still want to sell it.
Yeah having more familiarity with the room tiles and the possible actions really helped appreciate the gameplay. The first time we played, we just decided to shuffle up and play without taking note of the way resources can feed into your unique machine. Hopefully you can play it again soon and make the decision. (I'm pretty sure after 2 plays you'll know if it's a keeper or not)
We’ve enjoyed this when we travel. I have enough heavier games I chose to not buy the original Caverna. I did, however buy this as the big box version with both eras. Was relatively cheap…. Thanks for the nice playthrough and review!
Look like he activated the "Cave Entrance" in order to get the wood he needed for his next/last room he built. Was there something else that we missed, we couldn't tell from that timestamp?
This one seems more appealing than the full Caverna or Agricola, tbh. They're so long and have sooo many moving parts, I just feel like there are more engaging 2hr long games.
Thanks for the playthrough. Would it have been tied if Naveen didn't point out the random choice chance? Because after the random choice, Monique said she gotten 1 extra point.
@Naveen, Era 2 extends the game, it adds 4 more rounds (for 12 total), and adds a new section to the cave. New abilities and rooms only become available after Era 1, which is rounds 1 - 8 that you two played. So basically it doesnt add anything to what you played, which is a bit unfortunate, but perhaps because the game is already well balanced they didnt want to add anything else. I just wish they added a few tiles to Era 1 so that every game a few tiles stayed out, for that extra bit of unpredictability. Oh yeah, it is an expansion and requires base Cave vs Cave.,
@@BeforeYouPlay you bet, if you have trouble finding it, both base and expansion are part of the Big Box release last year ($35 or so). And as far as other expansions, I’m not sure if it’s official or not but I’ve heard that the standard caverna is era 3. (Which adds farming and all that). That is to say, no more expansions.
It's the same collection of rooms in each game, but they show up in a randomized order due to how they get placed during setup and how/when/if they are excavated.
Before You Play!
11:05 The video totally blacks out for several seconds.
Suspicious turn lol. Some reason there was a glitch in the final export of the video.

Really appreciate the top-down full playthrough with the high quality camera work, really shows off the game in a great way!
Thanks!
Thank you Ben, we truly appreciate you! :-)
Ohhh gotta try that one. 🎉🎉
I love these designer series.
Amazing. You guys are definitely the best board game channel
Thank you Tiago!! We truly appreciate all of your support!!
I haven’t watched this yet but this will be fun to watch I guarantee it.

Good playthrough. Never had a chance to try this one. But have loved All Creatures Big and Small
We are thinking of picking up the All Creatures Big Box!
Random blackout at 11:10
Yeah super weird, the editing program must have glitched... 🤔

Following to see if you update us on your future playthroughs. 😅

Yeah we might just have to pick up that Era 2 box…
Would love to see a replay with both Eras!
I thought my browser die at 11:05 xD
Weird glitch in the editing software for some reason.
LOL Dexter growling made me try to find out why Sugar was growling. This is not the first time Dexter has tricked me.
Sorry Sugar!!!
I really like this game. I used to own this version, but then I traded it away and got the big box!
That one looks very nice
I don't get to watch much but each time I do my dude Naveen is always eating a loss.
He's been winning a lot more the past year
Cover 2 player la havre please :)
We don't own it, but are definitely up to playing it!
They did already last year!
@@doggyaugie Not the 2 player variant called Le Havre: The Inland Port! 😊
Didn't Naveen forget to activate a room @ 45:57 ? That would have been a tie by activating the treasury!
Look like he activated the "Cave Entrance" in order to get the wood he needed for his next/last room he built. Was there something else that we missed, we couldn't tell from that timestamp?
Don't think he did.
@@BeforeYouPlay Ah that's correct. Great playthrough, super tight!

You are missing your playlist!! :)
I think we may have mistimed the pop up lol. We'll go and fix it, thanks!!
Oh Dexter! ❤😅
He wasn't happy about the FedEx delivery lol.
Thanks for the playthrough.

Great game.
are there any more room or action tiles for more variability or do you always use the same?
Always use the same, there is an expansion called “Era 2”. Not sure how it works/adds.
@@BeforeYouPlay thank you

Love the series. You two can change the dry euro into something juicy and delicious. ❤
Haha thank Terry! It’s coming to a close soon 🫢.
