am reading the book about her and what an extraordinary person & story! She had true grit & was so resilient despite all the abuse she received from her husband.
I have no words 😶 I’m from Ohio and it’s crazy that very few people here knows of her. She’s a true LEGEND !! I hike the Buckeye trail but this A.T is on my list.
I’m reading Grandma Gatewood’s Walk. Picked it up in Bryson City NC, near the section she hiked through at the Nantahala. Such a great story, and as a hiker, I can only dream of doing what she accomplished. What an amazing lady. A new hero for me. God bless you all!

Indeed. Inspiring.

Great story to read in that setting!
Just read the excellent book. This video was a nice way to see some of the things mentioned. Well done
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed the book... and some visuals to match 😎
My son and his friend finished the AT last year. It took them 5 months. I'm getting him this book for his birthday.
Nice. And congrats to your son.
Thanks Greenbelly for these high-quality videos! I just found your channel and am well impressed
An incredible pioneer hiker.
Well, I'm 5'2", 140 lbs and 73 - I guess I'd better get going!
You got this 💪
Well done! Excellent video.
Glad you enjoyed!
Very nice video
Thanks!
I want to be Gramma Gatewood when I grow up ❤😊
Me too
According to the book she also hiked the 2000 mile Oregon trail
Yup!
Hollywood should make a movie about her adventures. Why hasn't it done yet!?
Agree. Im Australian. Love this story- would love to see recognition of this woman world wide
I read her book I’m trying to build up my endurance to attempt the trailI’m a type two diabetic and I think if she can do it I can do it
The rough rule of thumb is “be able to run a mile” before attempting a thruhike. Should serve as a good benchmark fitness level. Good luck! :)
Dang, I was going through my subscription panel and was debating on unsubscribing from your channel due to inactivity. Glad I didn't.
Thanks! Glad to hear. We'll keep 'em comin.
