Hey there Dr Dray…thanks for this video! Always fun. I too grew up in the Midwest. I have not had the pleasure of trying the “salads” you mentioned, but I loved a concoction my Gram would prepare. It was line jello, cream cheese, cottage cheese and crushed pineapple. So, so good especially in the summer. I don’t eat that way any longer, but what a lovely memory of her, and our time around the table. 🩵
Situation: a lady backing out of her space willy-nilly. Not looking at all, just backing up. I couldn't get out of her way because of the line of cars behind me. After she backed into my car, she actually jumped out of her car and said, "Didn't you see me backing up?!" Of course she was charged with the accident.
I had to YANK my 3 year old out of the way of a small ford escape the other day because she didn’t see me walking right behind her in the parking lot, and she definitely didn’t see my toddler. I back in everywhere I can.
I had to chuckle on your parking space comment. I live in FL and I also have seen so many parking backwards into the parking space lately. I think it is because so many have relocated here from the North. I have been told that if they need a battery jump during a freeze it is easier to access.
I went to the one in Moore ok. They did a tribute to Toby Keith with the fireworks it was great. They encouraged bringing outside food and drink. water bottles were sold for $2.00. None of the food was overpriced.
You are correct about backing in 🤷 I totally agree with getting acclimated to the hot weather! Thanks for another great video. Five Below has really nice rugs, like a canvas with print. Great for covering high traffic areas!
OMG! This is such a problem in Seattle that some parking lots have signs that say no backing into spots! But the stadium makes everyone back in so it expedites the exiting quicker. Mixed messages everywhere 🙄
It's actually safer to pull out than to back out of a parking spot if there are other cars in the lot. Reduces risk of collisions and insurance payouts.
I rarely comment, but you hit a nerve! As someone who drives a full-size pick up truck, I can assure you it is absolutely safer for us to back in. When you arrive at a parking lot, you can visually see who is around you and safely back into a spot. When you leave a spot, it is far safer to be able to pull out than it is to back out as there are large blind spots in the extended cabs and the height alone makes it challenging to see a child who may run behind you. Also, I do live in a cold climate, and it's far more difficult to get a jump on your battery if you are pulled into a spot. It's also easier to push through a snowbank that may have been plowed in front of you when exiting a spot. Please believe me when I say, it's not about being "cool", it's safe & smart!
Yes! It is easier to enter a parking space with a long wheelbase by backing in. In Europe, the "aisles" of parking lots are narrower, and the only efficient way to get into a parking space is to back in - even in the Honda Accord I drove when I lived there.
Lots of great answers! If you hadn't said anything I never would have found these things out😉 I still really like your shopping sprees. I have been following you for about 6 years off and on. Your are funny and educational. Thank you for your videos!
I was taught early on by my dad to back into spaces whenever possible in the event of an emergency or overcrowding of the parking lot so I can get out ASAP.
This whole video just cracked me up. It would be so fun to go through a store with you and just listen to you getting so excited like a kid. About erasers! Made my day. I always back in to a spot because I have a very small convertible, live in the South with the monster trucks and it is safer when pulling out to be able to see what is coming around the the truck.
I live in the outskirts of Chicago and I learned about Frog Eye salad about eight years ago. It is made with a pasta called Ancini de Pepe. I love the strawberry pretzel salad! What a yummy combination of flavors. Something about the sweet and salty combination with the cream cheese filling-yum! Great video today, Dr. Dray!
As to the parking, with almost everyone using backup cameras, it's much easier to back in. On the other hand, when parked along a curb, people with backup cams are inclined to park way too close to the car behind them. 😕
You obviously don’t drive a truck, so you don’t understand. But I can see how it could be annoying when you have to wait for others to do something you don’t think is necessary.
You are so right about massive trucks always backing in next to you. I had one park so close to my car that I could not open the door on the driverside and get into my car about a week ago.
The battery jumpstarts are awesome. Bought one for my son last Christmas - sat in his trunk for 6 months. Had a friend's car die in our driveway - that thing started it up immediately - so much easier than using another car. It's really annoying if someone wants to back in and is making a bunch of people wait on them to do their special maneuver.
I drive a Honda Odyssey, and I always back in. It didn’t come with a front camera, but it did come with an amazing back camera, which makes it much easier to back in over pulling in. As for the truck in an empty parking lot… Your guess is as good as mine.
My dad (landscaper) drove trucks his whole life and would always back in to a parking space. Even with a whole trailer attached to the back. It was easier for him that way and for others.
I pull up in a parking spot so all I have to do is pull out. People do NOT pay attention when they back out. When you have a truck next to you when you have to back out it's hard to SEE who's coming. Works out perfect the way I do it. Love your videos!!
Next year try the city of Stafford 4th of July events. There’s an orchestra concert (indoors), then you stay for the fireworks. Since it’s a smaller city, getting out of the parking lot is OK. The downtown events are nuts. Katy Mills gets really crowded too. Also, I was eating strawberry pretzel salad while watching your video - so good.
As a farmers wife, my vehicle was a bright blue pickup truck. It is easier to back that baby into a parking spot than to pull it in the slot. The driving out is even easier than backing out of a parking spot.
I see all the pros of backing a truck in, for me, I cannot back in between 2 cars. Easier to pull in and back out, where I don't feel at risk of hitting anyone. And in smaller parking lots you can really cause delays if you are backing in and don't nail it first try. I've seen some parking lots ban the practice, usually smaller ones.
I grew up with a garage that required backing in. It’s still easy for me. Not only is it easier to see pedestrians and get out of the spot, it can save one from a ticket in the case of an accident. (In IL the person going in reverse is always at fault.)
*I like paper planners/calendars Jan-Dec. * I park far from stores, businesses so I can park forward, it is easier to see pulling out. I also get extra exercise by walking the added distance. *I am a school supply junkie- pens, notebooks, markers, glue sticks, wite-out, folders- & I havent been to school in decades. * all the rants in today's video had me rolling .....the 'crud' in the pumps... *no frog eye salad in my Midwest State! No snicker salad. No strawberry pretzel salads.
I'm not opposed to backing into a parking space at all. It's much easier to pull forward to get out. What irks me is people that back in crooked and are over the line of the next parking space. It also irks me when people have to make several attempts to back in basically stopping traffic. I had the day off for July 4th. I was invited to a cookout but opted to relax at home. Happy Saturday, Dr Dray! Fun vlog. Hope you have a blessed evening. 💙
I'm 80 and have depth perception issues so I always try to find a spot that I can pull through from the entry spot to the one facing in front of it if possible, so I don't have to back up to get out. It looks like I backed in, but I just pulled forward to park. Many older people do this. Love your videos.
My husband has a large truck, and he always backs in. He's a pro at it, and he can do it faster than most can pull into a space. Also, we have noticed in our area that the small car owners can never park straight. They often park over the line. It's the individual not the manner of parking.
I usually pull in & go into the parking place in front of me whenever possible! I’m retired so I have everyday off except for doctor appointments…UGH! We stayed in & stayed cool on Independence Day, it was way too hot & humid! I use that makeup balm too & like it really well. I agree with the Moroccan bottle, I use that too & sometimes if I’m not paying attention it will squirt everywhere, what a mess! I’ve heard of frog eye salad but I’ve never had any. Great video. Have a great weekend! ❤️
Dr. Dray, my husband has a truck and if the parking lines are not diagonal, he backs in. He says it’s easier to pull out rather than back out when there are other large cars/trucks rear-ends sticking out. For this reason, we usually take my CRV on trips.
I drove a truck for 30 years and yes, it's easier to back in and back out, especially if you have a long bed. Swinging the back end into a space is much easier than swinging in the front end. On the rare occasion that I did pull straight in, I always regretted it because it took me forever to back out. I felt so sorry if there was a person waiting for me to back out and get my space because I was always extra careful not to side swipe the cars in the next space on each side of me or behind my space. They just don't make parking spaces long or wide enough for trucks and not enough space between rows of parking spaces. It's much safer too. So hard to see when backing out of a space.
Yep! Grew up in Minnesota and have both snicker salad and frog eye salad. Also the strawberry salad❤ Snickers salad also has Granny Smith apples in it along with mini marshmallows and vanilla pudding in it though, not chocolate syrup
I pull through if at all possible. Will back in when necessary. What I HATE doing is backing OUT of the parking space as you would normally have to do if you just pulled in. It's risky. People don't pay attention. It's easy to miss seeing a little kid and this is made worse when the kid isn't holding an adult's hand. My newer car has a back up camera. Total game changer. Love those shades on you BTW
I back into spots about 50% of the time, depending on the parking situation. I have been hit by a car who didn't see me in a parking lot and now I don't take chances. I think it's definitely safer, especially when you're in a big truck that has limited visibility . I even back into the spots in my parking garage because I think it's easier to pull out.
Also, I have a couple of sports cars with very low front bumpers. And so sometimes backing into a spot is better because then I don't scrape the front of my car on those concrete parking bumpers that are in the front of some spots.
I'm a child of the 90s and I think back then people were much more loyal to specific brands. I was very much a Clinique girl. All my makeup and all my skincare was Clinique. Of course times have changed, but I still use a lot of their products. Some of their stuff is old and needs to be updated, but other items are just fantastic.
Northerners here. With the snow ❄️ and ice 🧊 we have up here in the Midwest. It's easier and safer to back up into a space so you can drive forward in the snow. Plus for just plain old safety reasons it's easier to jump a car or pull directly out of a space.
😂 We back up our cars! Sometimes it's easier 😊 I worked in the morning. Off by noon!😅 Salads where I'm from include lettuce and other greens, Southern California we have a fair amount of vegetarians and vegans so plant based foods are popular as well as gluten free. We have a large middle Eastern population so veggies are a must here!
I always back in. Easier to get out of the parking lot in most crowded places in Houston. BUT more importantly, the rear view camera allows more precision parking when there is no front camera.
When I was still working, ALL of my coworkers (almost all men) backed into their parking spots in the garage. They all drove company cars that were almost all SUV's. I figured it was just a guy thing. I agree with you about bath bombs. I am pretty much a shower person. The only time I really took a bath rather than shower was after some surgery where I had to soak in some epsom salt water. I love my planner. I started using one when I was working and I put everything on it. Mine has monthly along with a weekly planner and places for notes. I love office/school supplies. Don't need as much anymore but I love shopping for them.
I keep cold in winter. I live in the North & feel that overheated houses are unbearable. So, I agree but switching seasons... Toughen up! I have Scandinavian blood
I use to live in Japan as a child where backing into a parking spot was the norm. Growing up I watched my parents park that way all the time. Since I’ve started driving, I’ve found myself backing into a parking spots too. I feel it has many benefits to parking that way.
Driving out of a parking place in a large truck is much easier than backing out of it. My father was a Houston police officer, he said backing in was safer because if someone approached me as I exited or entered the car I had a better field of vision on which way to turn as I drove out of the parking place.
I drive a big 4 door truck and LOVE to back into parking spots! My truck has 10 cameras on it, sensors on the front and back and a big screen on the dash. I love honing my backing skills! I have a trailer that I pull my Polaris Ranger on and this has made hitching the trailer to the back of the truck easier as well! I'm a farmer and have been driving a truck for years! Not trying to be dramatic, just keeping my skills sharp!
In certain cars it’s easier to back in with the back-up camera than it is to nudge the car nose in without bumping the front of your car into the car stop. Atleast that’s in my case. My car has a low front end and big hood area so if i pull in forward I have to get out and check it two times to make sure I don’t damage the lip on my front bumper. ✌🏼
I'm a full sized SUV driver and I always, without fail back in. I'm in control of the situation when the cars around me are parked. The chances of small children running behind my vehicle as I back into a space are much lower when I'm parking next to empty cars. We do it for our safety and everyone else's. Backing out into traffic is less safe than backing in to a space in a controlled environment. I see you're in a small car and I agree for small vehicle drivers it's not as necessary. Try it though and you'll see the difference in your comfort level over time. Faster to navigate out as well.
STRAWBEERY PRETZEL SALAD is soooo good ! 🍓🍓 I used to make it back in the day, and I’m a Midwest girl (IL), transplanted in NV. I’ve also noticed more people backing into parking spots. What’s up with that ?! Kinda irritating when you want to leave and have to wait for them to slowly back in. 🤷♀️
European here. At first I thought you were joking, really. Fascinating how different the prespective is. Backing up into a parking space is the most common thing for me even in am empty parking lot and I would never ever consider things like being chased by some lunatic or possibly having to jump start my car as a criteria to decide whether or not to back up my car. 😂 Your videos are entertaining, thank you!
I live in a small town. The fireworks display is 2 miles up the mountain from us. We just walk out and sit in our driveway to watch so I don't miss that type of fireworks hassle you mentioned!
Yes, I still use paper agendas and also a paper journal! I have used Quo Vadis school agendas for years, but I just changed over to a small, independent diary-maker called Papier Tigre. I really love the January to December agenda I got from them! I use it for my freelancing business. I also have a Leuchhtturm book I use for logging things like meetings and other stuff. I do all of that in a bullet journal way, though without tasks or all of the fancy drawings and such. I like this diary as well.
There are a high number of accidents that happen in parking lots when people are backing out of their spaces… police officers are taught to back in for easy/quick exit, which holds true for anyone else who might need to get away quickly.
Have had all three of the salads you mentioned! The pasta in the Frog Eye Salad is Asini De Pepe (hope I spelled that right!). It has gotten hard for me to find! The Snicker Salad I've made has apples in it too! Strawberry Pretzel Salad is the bomb!! I'm from Iowa--all are popular here!
I don't back in any where, I do try to find spots where I can pull through. If not I just pull in, but I also park far out in parking lots where no one wants to park. Now my hubby backs in just about every where we go.
True about the issue with the jumper cables, but there are ways around this. They have portable battery packs with jumper cables now that don't require the use of two vehicles to jumpstart.
It is easier to pull out of a parking space and merge into moving traffic nose first instead of having to backing out of it. Whereas if you pull into a parking space, you'd have to back out and look back before pulling out. It's just easier to pull out faster.
My ideal parking lot choice is driving strait into a spot & through so I'm facing out the next aisle so I can drive forward when I leave. HOWEVER for my car, a smallish hatchback, I feel way safer backing out when in a busy full lot because I have motion sensors and "backup TV" so I don't worry when there are giant vehicles totally blocking my side views. Backing into a spot can be problematic if the car behind you pulled up too close so you can't get to the trunk
I back into parking place 99% of the time. I am a pickup truck driver. I feel that it is safer because backing out into traffic is more dangerous. Also in a larger vehicle it is more difficult to see if there is a smaller person or animal behind you. This spring, the rare time I pulled into a persons drive instead of backing in, when I left I backed down into a colvert and had to wait for triple A to pull me out. I do it because I can see better what is in front of me. And truly, I hate drama. If there were no other cars in the lot I can’t see a reason to do this though.
😂😂 backing in is quite normal in the Netherlands. It is easier to back in so that driving away is safer. so driving a round in an almost empty parking is not that uncommon: assessing the situation and deciding were to park. And backing in is in my opinion Soo much easier because of fact that you can leave much easer. ❤Astrid But everyone it’s own preference.
I make the strawberry jello pretzel salad- but PLOT TWIST- with raspberry! LOLOLOL. They make the Vacation sunscreen scents as perfumes too, lol, I got one in my fab fit fun box, it smells great! Love your videos!
It's important to hydrate in Texas. I think it is fine if events don't allow outside beverages, but then they should either have coolers where people can fill up their empty water bottles (which some do), or sell bottled water AT COST.

Backing into a space is actually safer than backing out of a space. Some companies even required it at their workplaces for this reason.
The new development areas have back in stall parking only! It really is easier to back in than back out.
My company required it for field employees at their places of work so for some it is probably their habit; I’m a terrible parker so don’t attempt it.

Melodramatic parking lol I think the one being melodramatic was Dr Dray.
Dr Dray is awesome with her word choices

OMG! This is such a problem in Seattle that some parking lots have signs that say no backing into spots! But the stadium makes everyone back in so it expedites the exiting quicker. Mixed messages everywhere 🙄
That's Seattle for you!😂 (I live an hour north)
It's actually safer to pull out than to back out of a parking spot if there are other cars in the lot. Reduces risk of collisions and insurance payouts.
@@Kiterpuss Yes, we know which is why they require it. But for an entire parking lot to back in takes more time.
I love hearing Dr. Dray being kinda negative in her car 😅 it’s so funny for some reason
I think it’s the heat!🥵😁
Yes, she was cracking me up! I love a little Dr Dray tirade. It sounds like me, when I’m talking to myself half the time. 😅
Her tirades are always kinda sweet Lol
I love her in the car it’s hilarious
Yes! It is easier to enter a parking space with a long wheelbase by backing in.
In Europe, the "aisles" of parking lots are narrower, and the only efficient way to get into a parking space is to back in - even in the Honda Accord I drove when I lived there.
Lots of great answers! If you hadn't said anything I never would have found these things out😉
I still really like your shopping sprees. I have been following you for about 6 years off and on. Your are funny and educational. Thank you for your videos!
I live in S FL. I do whatever is likely to provide more shade (if there Is any to be had) depending on the time of day/direction of sun.
I always back in to a spot because I have a very small convertible, live in the South with the monster trucks and it is safer when pulling out to be able to see what is coming around the
the truck.
Yes the backing in situation drives me crazy! We have to wait for these people to try and back into a space… it’s so annoying!
You obviously don’t drive a truck, so you don’t understand. But I can see how it could be annoying when you have to wait for others to do something you don’t think is necessary.
@@misty4483 lol I grew up on a farm so I’ve driven many trucks including the big trucks we used to haul barley and sugar beets. 😊
@@Pamkkw👍
Fr backing in takes longer
Same! Between my great mirrors and camera visibility, backing in/driving out just makes more sense and is easier /more convenient
So…. You back your car up in the Space.
Exactly Denise.
?? "pull up,and pull out?" That's a lot of pullin' !
I can completely relate to your description of how dramatically some people circle around, pull up and back in😂
I grew up with a garage that required backing in. It’s still easy for me.
Not only is it easier to see pedestrians and get out of the spot, it can save one from a ticket in the case of an accident. (In IL the person going in reverse is always at fault.)
*I like paper planners/calendars
Jan-Dec.
* I park far from stores, businesses so I can park forward, it is easier to see pulling out.
I also get extra exercise by walking the added distance.
*I am a school supply junkie- pens, notebooks, markers, glue sticks, wite-out, folders-
& I havent been to school in decades.
* all the rants in today's video had me rolling .....the 'crud' in the pumps...
*no frog eye salad in my Midwest
State! No snicker salad. No strawberry pretzel salads.
Happy Saturday, Dr Dray! Please give my best to your mom. I miss her and Tybee on the weekends. 💙💚💜
I miss her Saturday vlogs with her mom so much.
I often wondered if her mom was okay.
🧛🏻♀️🖤🖤🖤👩🏻⚕️🧓🏻🐕
I'm not opposed to backing into a parking space at all. It's much easier to pull forward to get out. What irks me is people that back in crooked and are over the line of the next parking space. It also irks me when people have to make several attempts to back in basically stopping traffic. I had the day off for July 4th. I was invited to a cookout but opted to relax at home. Happy Saturday, Dr Dray! Fun vlog. Hope you have a blessed evening. 💙
In the military my husband was trained to back in a parking spacecs so he could leave quickly.
The car verbiage Dray is one of the best shades of Dray! Vlog entertainment great stuff!
I'm 80 and have depth perception issues so I always try to find a spot that I can pull through from the entry spot to the one facing in front of it if possible, so I don't have to back up to get out. It looks like I backed in, but I just pulled forward to park. Many older people do this. Love your videos.
The blissful look when describing the snicker's salad! 😍😍😍
My husband has a large truck, and he always backs in. He's a pro at it, and he can do it faster than most can pull into a space. Also, we have noticed in our area that the small car owners can never park straight. They often park over the line. It's the individual not the manner of parking.
I always reverse into a parking space. I find it much earlier to get in and out that way. Love your videos xx
May I say, Dr. Dray…you are hilarious!!! Of course excellent information and content, too.
Husbands a combat vet- “ stay ready” We all even back into our driveway.
😂 thank you for making me smile, the get away car was funny.
Driving out of a parking place in a large truck is much easier than backing out of it.
My father was a Houston police officer, he said backing in was safer because if someone approached me as I exited or entered the car I had a better field of vision on which way to turn as I drove out of the parking place.
It's those people with big trucks cause it's hard for them to see while backing out. It's a thing in Cali also😊
Backing in is safer! My husband was a state police officer and it’s highly recommended to back in. Causes less accidents
I completely agree with the backing up! My husband and I say this all the time. Ever since Covid
I used to use the take the day off but switched to Elf melting balm which works great and much cheaper
I love planners too! I always buy the Jan-Dec layout. My favorite pens are the Pentel Clena in the .05 tip👌
lol! You crack me up! I love your stories so much!😂Thank you for cheering me up ❤️
We had the 4th of July off....but I now have every day off since retiring after 43 yrs as an RN. Loving the retired life.
SAME! I basically have to do a 3 point turn to pull in vs backing in.
Happy Saturday Vlog day everyone! I use the paper planners for the school year because of kiddos😀❤️. The vlogs make my wknds❤😊
Happy Saturday Dr Dray so excited to be here i live for this❤️
Me too!
Morning!

But when they have to back out they don’t even bother to look 😤
Look at you geeking out over school supplies! 😂
There are a high number of accidents that happen in parking lots when people are backing out of their spaces… police officers are taught to back in for easy/quick exit, which holds true for anyone else who might need to get away quickly.
It is easier to back into a space, the turning circle is much less. Plus big trucks have heaps of blind spots so safer to back in
Have had all three of the salads you mentioned!
Skincare and stationary, my two faves! Thankyou ❤️
It is easier to pull out of a parking space and merge into moving traffic nose first instead of having to backing out of it. Whereas if you pull into a parking space, you'd have to back out and look back before pulling out. It's just easier to pull out faster.
Dr Dray…. Love your videos!!
I’m seeing waterless skincare around alot lately, can you do a follow up???
❤Astrid
But everyone it’s own preference.
