Those are beautiful. I love clowns, especially those type of Italian Harlequin style clowns. Lovely messages too. I agree. A key phrase would have been nice but I enjoy the freedom sometimes to read intuitively as well. I like how you paired it with the Steampunk. Both styles from the same era.
I just ordered this deck (before checking out your review) to go with my rather sizeable collection of decks by Ciro Marchetti; many of his tarot decks plus the Gilded Reverie Lenormand, the Fin de Siecle Kipper, and his stunning, intuitive Oracle of Visions. To me the cirque theme really speaks to working with the psyche and the shadow, but the parity in his tarot images with the standard RWS system (more or less, depending on the deck) still allows me to read them for everyday situations. I am also currently reading and following Julia Cameron's amazing Artist's Way book and process, and the inner work this collection of cards provides is going to open so many creative doors for me, I think. I'm excited to see how they all go together. For anyone that has NOT yet discovered The Artist's Way, I cannot recommend it enough. It is for everyone, it is about more than unleashing your inner artist, and it is a book and process for monumental inner and outer transformation. Additional note, I have had Fairchild's Kali Oracle deck for a couple of years now and it is, hands down, my favorite of all decks, of all time. Not only is the artwork and card stock mind-blowingly gorgeous, but the messages of the Dark Cosmic Mother really get at the deep stuff in a way almost nothing can. Check it out!
PS. Your tarot journals are aspirational! Were that my only creative expression or if I had the time to devote I'd love to put the time and work into your journals that you do... instead mine are scribbled pages in a set of dedicated composition books LOL so I get to live vicariously through yours in your videos.
The Divine Circus is such an interesting deck, I find to be very real and authentic and sits perfectly between being honest and upfront, and being encouraging. However, I do find it a challenge with Alana Fairchild decks that you are so dependent on the guidebooks. Great pairings, my fave was the Steampunk tarot with DC. I don't have that one, but they look so good together :D
Yeah, I think that is one of the things I dislike most about Alana decks (and any similar oracles) is that I don't want to have to be dependent on the guidebook. Still a fun deck to work with tho! :)
I love Alana’s decks in general, and I do find myself working with the guidebook most of time, even with decks that I’ve had for years, but I do find great benefit from working in that manner. With this deck, I have to say I do find some of the artwork to be jarring, the clown like figures are just not my thing and differ quite a bit from the rest of the images in the deck even though there are several artists. This is one my favorites out of her decks though.
I was thinking of getting this deck but I needed a thorough review to make sure I actually want to have it in my collection. This helped a lot. As usual, you went through everything :) .. I truly love the cards .. and I don’t usually use Alana’s decks for clarification because they are my journaling decks. I love the messages .. and the art is one of the best in Alana’s decks imo.
What I see is a artwork in the deck and is crazy because mix clowns, geisha,Romani womans Alice virgin woman ,Warrior ,Harlequines,Gypsy,Angel, etc from storyteller but is true what the girl did this video first thanks for read the guide book make sense when she was reading I was look at the picture like the card the girl is a butterfly I didn’t notice until she was reading and is a lot magic real no real a lot artists involved in this wonderful art sensitive and intuitive look the cards and you find more knowledge I love it I bought it is my first oracle and first cards I’m identified with it enjoy to explore more if you are sensitive is very heavy in means and you can do your own opinion like example less men more womans why not we are powerful I saw 3 mens q in duke of shadows (14) out of darkness(2)& Death shall not take him (3) looks like smoke men figure maybe describe our woman society in this time and absolutely I will had my book if I can’t figure it like CONFETTI card is hard oneTHANKs BOHO TAROT …no ordinary deck, energy deck activate mind and soul meditation RA!,RA! I am the rooster mama definitely me. Beautiful artwork in this deck. I find clowns incredibly creepy. I think the artwork in this deck of harlequins is a lot more refined. It stops before heading down a creepy path. That’s just my opinion. I Really liked it with the Steam Punk Tarot! 💜💜💜
Yeah I think so too. Generally I avoid clowns, but these ones feel a bit more sophisticated. Thank you for watching. ❤️

I’m tired of the racism in Alana Fair Child’s decks. In this deck she’s literally using a racial slur (g*ps*) to refer to my people as the title of a card. The description in the guidebook , the art, the concept of a Romani woman (or a Geisha…) in a circus… is just so hurtful. It made me so sad to see it . I wish she made an effort to be a better person and people stopped recommending her decks for a minute. Hopefully this comment can be helpful for someone trying to learn about this things 🙏🏼💖
Please know you aren't the only one to have a negative visceral reaction to the things that she puts out. I try and remind myself people get a lot of comfort from her work, but at what cost...

In that case, you might also look at Ciro Marchetti's Oracle of Visions ;)
I’ve really liked your review of the cards.

I have scribble ones too! 😁 I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!
Thank you for reading from the guidebook for each card. This is exactly what I was looking for. Helped me a lot in my decision.

The Divine Circus is dear to me. I would also never use it without the guidebook, but for this kind of work, I think it does wonders! 💛
I'm really enjoying getting to know it. It's been a really wonderful adventure. Thank you for watching. ❤️
