    If they are hungry i feed them! No problem.!!!!

      I used to not mind as much, but they started to take over and the birds were afraid. Plus I was goin through a 25 pound bag of seed every four days! Not cheap lol. Every now and then we throw them a variety of tree nuts or if they’re looking a little skinny we’ll put peanut butter on bread for them!

      @@BirdWatchTV I used to go through 80 lbs of birdseed a month( without squirrels), but I moved and I go through 40 lbs of birdseed and a bag of freeze dried meal worms a month. I put out feed for the hummingbirds also. I don't have as many birds here and only 2 squirrels. I've been here almost 2 years. Most of my birds here are house wrens, titmouse and two woodpeckers that feed daily... It seems the squirrels eat on a different time frame than my birds.

    What if you have a feeder mounted on a tree and not a pole? I have a Netvue Birdfy feeder mounted on a tree 😅

    • @BirdWatchTV
      @BirdWatchTV  2 місяці тому +2

      Try mounting it to the side of your house or a shed at least 5 ft off the ground and away from any bushes or trees the squirrels might be able to jump from. Hope that helps!

      I don’t see why not! As long as they’re vinyl. If you have brick or wood siding you may have to move it higher up on the window, or move it to a second floor window if you have one!

    Does the Vaseline remain when it rains? I live in an area with frequent torrential showers

    • @BirdWatchTV
      @BirdWatchTV  11 місяців тому +1

      Great question! If the rain is heavy and goes on for a while it will wash it away. I find after heavy showers I’ll have to re apply the Vaseline. But sometimes I don’t, a good indicator of when you’ll have to add more Vaseline would be if you start seeing the squirrels climbing back up the poles. That’s what I tend to do here, just wait until the squirrels start climbing again then out comes the Vaseline lol. If you don’t feel like reapplying all the time you could try buying a baffle for your feeder. Those help keep the squirrels away too. Just gotta make sure you install it correctly. Hope that helps!

      So I put in a metal container peanuts & sunflower seeds & I don't see them in my feeders.
      When I grow corn in my garden, last year those squirrels are off every single ear of corn that wasn't quite ready to eat. This year we're trying a fence out around our garden to keep them from getting at our corn. Hope & pray 🙏 it works

      How high are your feeders from the ground?

    • @BirdWatchTV
      @BirdWatchTV  8 місяців тому +1

      I ask because if they’re not high enough off the ground or if there’s anything the squirrels can climb near the feeders they’re most likely jumping up or over straight onto the feeders and not climbing up the greased poles. Keep in mind they can jump at least 4 feet vertically and 6 feet horizontally. Hope this helps you out!

    • @joyfulpianomelodies3853
      @joyfulpianomelodies3853 8 місяців тому +1

      The feeder is probably three or four feet off the ground, but there is a pallet upright in the ground from the previous owners that is a foot and a half away. I’ve seen them climb that. I want that pallet gone!

    • @BirdWatchTV
      @BirdWatchTV  8 місяців тому +1

      Yea I was surprised when you said the Vaseline didn’t work. I knew it must be something else. Once you get rid of the pallet and maybe raise the feeders another foot off the ground that should do the trick. Best of luck!
