It's all a learning curve, whatever stage you're at. There's no point in battling on with something that doesn't feel right for you, and it's fun to start a new project.
@@DaveAtLittleton I am currently building my 5th layout (in 4 years time), and only now I feel I have avoided mistakes I made in the earlier layout. I hope you will be able to get the perfect layout soon. I am looking forward to seeing it!
@railway187 cheers, despite all the videos and tutorials, I still feel ill equiped but also, I am not striving for absolute perfection otherwise it will never be finished, I just want a good job without any major issues or lots or small ones (this set up had both so had to go lol)
All the buildings etc. Will be reused, then wood, grass and back scene will go in the bin as can't be practically reclaimed. I will try to reclaim the track but it often breaks apart becuse of the glue holding the ballast down. I'm switching over to Peco track anyway so any I do reclaim will be used for dioramas instead 😊
@@DaveAtLittleton Reclaiming the track is difficult when it is ballasted. I have tried once and it didn't go to well. I have now just started a new layout and as I now understand that I regularly like to change my layout, I will probably work with a less intrusive way of ballasting, probably greyish blackish large grain sanding paper under the tracks. I am not sure if this will look good enough, and I might add some ballast later, but the sanding paper will not be glued to the baseboard, it will be fixed by the track (screwed to the baseboard), so it should much more easy to remove or move track later.
Good idea. I can't do that, I am super clumsy so to avoid damaging my layout, everything needs to be stuck down pretty well, also I let kids play with it and if it's not stuck down they will rip it up lol

Very true, and I am excited about the rebuild, I've ordered a custom station from Bunters Yard but I think he's very busy at the moment
@DaveAtLittleton looking forward to seeing your build.
Well, when it has to go, to make better with the new.
Yes. Fingers crossed I resolve all the old mistakes without making any new ones! 😊

That's scary...! Will you reuse the track as well, or only the scenery?
