I understand the hesitation from Mr. Malle that this perfume could almost be too sublime for real life. I have this fragrance, once u spray on your skin this fragrance smells rose, cumin, patchouli, a little bit of blackcurrant scents and it will stays tingling on your skin for about 5 hours if 2 spray. luxurious scent and head turner fragrance.

( Yes I Have My Favorites I Always Buy ) Many Thanks To Other UA-camrs Talking About These Colognes With Lots Of Positive Videos About The Brand. So I Figured I'll Acquired The Essential Collection As I'm Curious For New Scents To Try Out And Wow...., I Was Blown Away With Monsieur As It's A More Dominant Scent. I Did Buy The Full Bottle A Week Later. Musc Ravageur Was My 2ND Favorite From The Six Samples. Yesterday Was Shopping And Saw And Picked Up A 10ml Tester Of Portrait Of A Lady As Stated Lots Of Positive Feedback, I Absolutely Love It. I Will Pick Up A Full Bottle In The Spring, Also Try More Samples I Haven't Tried Yet In The Near Future. I Recommend Trying Samples And You'll Be Surprized At The Quality Of The Scents As There's So Much Going On. Merci Frederic Malle !
I have a 2015 batch of portrait of a lady and its incredible, just 1 spray fills the room, i believe its classed as a vintage batch its 83% , wonderful, i only habe around 30ml left but it will last me years coz i only need 1 spray of it 😀 i love frederic malle
I really really like POAL. I just finished my old batch and I'm kinda hesitant to buy the new reformulated because I hear that there's issues with performance, not as strong as the batch that I have. Any thoughts?
Unless they’re straight up lying to us I think that this is a psychological phenomenon where one person plants the seed of doubt and then we have confirmation bias that it’s true. I sprayed POAL last night one single time on my wrist and it’s still going strong at 3pm the next day. Also our own hormones etc can change over the years. Not trying to invalidate your experience but it doesn’t make much sense, unless the ingredients themselves have diminished in quality, perhaps owing to environmental factors, like if the soil the roses are grown in has changed.
I bought the 3.5 bottle, I love it. But so many people have said it has become watered down through reformulation and is weaker in the Turkish rose note, projection, and longevity. Wish I could have smelled it before they changed the formula, but I do like smell of the version I have. I was interested in Musc Ravageur too, but seems they changed formula for that one also, and it is weaker in every area too. From my experience it seems 2 or 3 sprays is good and will last the day, but 5 sprays is definitely too much 😂 but I heard original formula you only needed one spray, so you can see that clearly there is a difference in the quality now.

why does this always happen! ugh. Am about to buy Portrait but was worried about how it might smell now after 12 plus years on the market...too expensive to be let down like that. I stopped buying Chanel perfumes 20 years ago as the formulations have been utterly watered down and bastardized since my first bottle in '85.

I have been told by another perfumer this has no real rose is this true otherwise saying 400 roses in a bottle is misleading and false advertising to consumers its been said its very clever manipulation of aroma chemicals . I have been wanting to buy this but hesitant to do so as I respect the other perfumers views too .
