    Great video! I was looking for a way to carry 2 kayaks in my truck without having to stack one on top of the other and potentially damaging them. I wanted a low profile bed rack that I could remove but the cost was ridiculous at $500 to $750. just bought the material today and this looks like it's going to be exactly what I wanted! Well done and thank you.

      @@toddlarson5232 I used 6' for mine. I also keep it bolted to the tent. I can slide it up on to the truck rails with the tailgate down by myself. Then you just clamp it down to the truck rails and your done.

    I might use this, however i will have to change up the rail to bed attachment method. My Tacoma already has similar rails installed in he bed going the length. so similar to the rail nut used here, i will just do a 90 with another bolt to attach it to my tacoma rails.

    Nice video...thanks. I noticed in the intro your teardrop with an awning mounted. I have a teardrop and want to mount an ARB 2500 awning, but my crossbars about 3' apart, allowing for only 2 brackets with a lot of unsupported awning on each end. I'm wondering if you faced this problem and what you did about it. I'm thinking of mounting 6 feet of super strut perpendicular to my crossbars so that I can attach the awning to it using 3 brackets. But I'd still only have 2 brackets attaching the whole assembly to the crossbars so I'm not sure I would have improved the situation much. Thoughts?

    • @DrGH201
      @DrGH201 4 роки тому

      Peter Bradley I did not. BakFlip makes the mounts needed but they don’t sell them as an accessory. You have to buy the $1700 BakFlip CS. I gave up and bought a Decathlon tent that fits between the wheel wells. With the Bedrug and 3” foam pad, it’s not bad. Good luck with yours.

    Hey there great idea! I went to Home Depot yesterday and got the parts. I'm wondering would this work with 14 gauge super struts? The 12 is stronger, but I'm only using this to carry 4 bikes that way around 35 lbs each. The ubolts that came with my bike racks are a little short for the 12 gauge struts?

    • @tedslifer7375
      @tedslifer7375 5 років тому

      Expedition Georgia USA hey there I actually used the 12 gauge strut and made some brackets to mount the bike racks. It worked great! I took a few pics of it don't know how to post them here but thanks for the video I got a few compliments on it and it saved me a few hundred over buying a name brand rack. Also it's a lot stronger!
