    the biggest thing to improve my snooker game is if i've ran out of position rather than hammer the black in for position on the next red I'll just pot the black with a power i'm comfortable with and try to get on the next red and if it doesn't happen just play safe

    Another great insight Steve. I love that you are making videos about situations that occur in real games. Being undecided between two ways of playing a shot, or trying to 'force' angles that aren't there, are problems that we all face yet there aren't many videos about these. Your guidance is very good advice for intermediate players. Another issue that intermediate players face is how and when to try to develop balls that are stuck on the cushion. There is nothing online about this subject, so a vid from you would be fantastic. Cheers!

    Thanks for this, I have been watching lots of videos on how to improve, but never know what shot to play. The trouble is they do not tell you where to hit the ball like you do in this one, thanks again for this now I know where I am going wrong. I have lost it a bit after not playing for two years because of the dreaded bug. Chris

    I played pool for the last 6 or 7 years and i was quite good, so I wanted to start playing snooker since it is much harder than the pool. I found it difficult to adjust to the huge table and potting the balls as well as playing my shots straight and consistent. I found videos of this guy and I can guarantee to everyone who just started playing snooker that this guy is amazing and his tips improved my game so so much. Listen to everything that this man is saying and you will enjoy this incredible game much much more. Regard to everyone!!!

    Can I suggest a video? Since I'm in an area of local lock down, I'm only able to play on my own and in a club I normally don't go to so it's a bit more expensive than usual. Can you a suggest a a 1 hour practice routine than I can work on by myself, something that allows me to work on a bit of everything? Otherwise I end up playing a frame or two then do the T or a line up.

    Nice video. I noticed your feet were quite far apart. Is thisfor balance and to stop sidewards movement?
    The reason I ask is that I seem to pot better as a right hander by keeping my left foot close to the shotline...the only problem is I dont seem to play so well in matches like this?

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  2 роки тому

      Just the best balance for me, yeah. Slightly wider than shoulder width apart. The left foot is the one that isn't by the shot line, it will always been to the left side of it, it's the right foot that must be on the shot line.

  • @demoney9540
    @demoney9540 3 роки тому

    1st video I've seen of yours. Main reason players miss shots is due to unintentional side thus 'poor cueing & pressure' ie Michael White a pro just look at his final striking of the ball his elbow plays the shot, other players are similar. Then look at top pros, their follow thru is straight as an arrow ie ronnie selby john higgins. I used to play with Matthew couch many years ago a top player top cuiest in the late 80's......

    Great video (again)! I have a question to anyone who knows the answer... I'm having difficulties with those power-follow-through shots, every time I try to follow through with the cue, aim differently or elevate the cue differently, the cue ball jumps and doesn't follow-through as much as I wanted. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong and can improve?

    • @maxmaxwell3787
      @maxmaxwell3787 3 роки тому +1

      Mikael Doust you’re not getting through the cue ball. Power alone doesn’t achieve the outcome needed unless your cue is pushing through the ball and the cue hand is finishing at the chest. Make sure your bridge hand is near enough to the cue ball and you have enough cue and backswing available to generate the action required. It’s timing, solid, straight cueing and follow through that delivers the result, not power alone.

      That's right! A good pre-shot-routine and planning is key to overcoming a lot of these problems. But don't overlook mistakes 4 & 5 ☝️
      Mistake 4:
      Set up an angle that's too straight in your mind and get used to potting the balls and what height you need on the white. You'll amaze yourself as to how much you can move the white even when the pot is just off straight.
      Mistake 5:
      Get the fundamentals as good as can be. Once you have a solid base to work from, everything else follows from there.
