Kurze is perpetually at war against madness, against determinism, against doubt and guilt. Corax walks the shadow with grim determination, it is that focus that gave Kurze pause.
Ok, I'd say The Raven Guard are the scariest of the original 20 Legions followed up by the Night Lords and Alpha Legion. At least with the others you can *see* them coming, but someone that's eight to ten feet tall and decked out in power armour *should not be able to move that quietly.*
We're not going to mention the Lions, "Michael Myers" relentless style? Men of Iron, rad weapons, and other weapons that go against the 30th millennium Geneva convention? Not to mention that the Gene Sire of the 1st is probably the coldest, most calculating, military, God in all aspects of warfare. To the point that he looks at everyone as a potential enemy needing to be exterminated, if the order is given.
@@Brainflayer I’d rather get brained by a sneaky beaky than drug away and tortured, See my family flayed, Or be forced to eat my own fingers. Night Lords are always more terrifying because they kill for pleasure and maim for hobby. They just not as deadly stealthy.

Mission is eternal, your body is the one brushing your teeth in the mirror. You are Alpharius, you have replaced this person months ago and have drastically improved his life: stopped drinking, got promoted at work, is even taking his sister's children to the petting zoo tomorrow. The Night Lords use the night, they don’t own it like others, like comparing a common criminal to someone like Batman, one uses it the other lives for it
I think to truly understand and master the dark, you must be exposed to the absence of it. If you spend your entire life in perpetual darkness, what happens when light is introduced into the equation. The exposure blinds you, making the shadows all the darker in the contrast. That is where the raven guard lie. Night or day, they will hide, they will hunt, and they will fight. That I think is why the raven guard will potentially out-stealth anyone outside of reality-bending technology and beings.

LOL 😂 Night lords massacre Ravens so hard they never recover. Gifts of Emperor curse Ravens because Night Lords needs shadow to be stealthy so they need to be relying on skills not warp sorcery.
Sergeant Vincentus of the dark angels chapter Son of the lion and warrior of the Emperor I have century's of service crusading in the Emperors name So forgive me for when I say 5:10 Why corvus kinda..
I suppose the night lords should be grateful that corax didnt want to fight them. The command claw would have been dead before they had even the slightest idea they weren't alone. Curze would have been alone against likely some of the finest warriors in the XIXth legion alongside corax himself. Death was all but assured.
Curze knows it, too, and it says a lot about him that he's not bothered by it. Either he trusts Corax to NOT be like him, or he's already gone mad enough that self-preservation has evaporated. Possibly both.
Yeah, but to be fair, Corvus was a bit distracted *soloing the entire Word Bearers legion,* and gutting Lorgar. Corvus doing it to Kurze here, in a moment of relative calm and quiet, when he and his warriors could actually focus their senses? No way Kurze could pull that off against Corax.
Stealth is also not exactly an option when the enemy knows you are coming. In the days, weeks, months following the massacre the sons of corax and other gathered survivors did hide and they did fight, inflicting potentially substantial losses on the iron warrior hunting forces. But when angron himself sought to destroy the raven guard personally, the shadows are helpless against a chain axe to the face. The world eaters were basically the perfect counter. They didn't care about losses, they didn't care about guns. The raven guard had nowhere left to run, nowhere left to hide. With a whole legion surrounding them, the end had come. Then obviously they were saved by the Avenger arriving to save as many as it could and allowed the raven to fight another day.
@hammer1349 they were saved by Horus, after alpharius asked him to spare corax. To really mess with him on getting the primarch data from E. I wish I didn't know 90% of the lore because it's complete nonsense and each writer for BL just makes up total trash lore. Reynolds is the only guy that can write a 40k book and not ruin the lore.
You try hiding when you're fighting alongside Salamanders and Iron Hands. Especially when Ferrus Manus is in a mood. The thing is that every legion has a weakness, and for the Raven Guard, it's overt frontal assault. They aren't built for it, and they suffer high casualties when they do. Horus already knew that. He used to use them for that kind of work. (Which led to Corax decking him one time, shame that never made it into the novels.) After the massacre, the few survivors actually did hide for a while. They ran a very impressive game of cat-and-mouse (playing AS the mice) and not only evaded capture for months, but killed a lot of their pursuers. All this on a planet that was firmly in the grip of EIGHT Chaos legions, while having to scavenge armor and weapons because they'd lost most of theirs, and led by a wounded primarch. In a weird way, they were in their element then.
