Sarah Rosa I was also wondering about copyright/royalties. I’m guessing that the song belongs to Pentatonix, but the royalties would be split between Kevin and Avi. I think that that’s how it works with air time coverage. But I’m guessing that this song might not get much air time. It can’t truly be performed by Pentatonix any longer - you can hear Avi’s distinct Baritone tones in the song at “I will break down...” Matt can’t replicate that. That’s an Avi sound... even if he knows the song (which I’m sure he does).
This song is so beautiful and the arrangement so hypnotic, it just carries me away into some other place. And Avi is so unique in his sound. I can't ever remember a bass that could be so deep, resonant, strong, soft and human; all at the same time.
One of my favorite originals by them. Avi and Kevin wrote this. :') Thank you for your honest reaction. It was beautiful to watch you guys feeling the song the way most of us did when we heard it the first time. It sure is a tear-jerker! Their 5-part harmonies are just the best thing ever! Avi adds something to it that I cannot explain, I just feel it and I know it feels right! You are absolutely right when you said them 5 just FIT! They do ❤ You might also like Light In The Hallway, no video for it, but you'll find many live performances on youtube. Scott wrote it, and Avi takes the lead. Gorgeous! Have a nice day boys :)
Scott and Mitch wrote it (for Scott new nephew lullaby) and Scott says he only heard Avi singing it because his voice is so emotional...you will love it
This is the first song that caught me after my father died. My mother had died 16 months before and I heard this gor the first time the week of my father's funeral. It shook me to the core, spoke to my heart, broke it into a million pieces and repaired it a little bit at the same time. The same thing happens every time I listen to it but I think my heart is always a little bit more whole after each time I hear it 💔❤
No shame in tears when hearing that song. It's a most remarkable song. The dissonance and harmonies are just amazing. They subtly change the chords with each repeat of the chorus.
This is MY favorite of theirs (Somewhere Over the Rainbow runs a close second). Anytime anyone asks about songs that you have an immediate, visceral reaction to, this one is my answer. I'm an Avi girl, so this is a double whammy for me. He's SO present and anchors this sound so well. Then he soars in that bridge with Scott and Mitch. Thanks for reacting to this and loving it in the same why I do. This is why I love you guys and rec you on my facebook all the time.
I got to see this live and let me tell you, it was a freaking religious experience. It sounds just as amazing in person, even more because they're right in front of you, doing it off mic and it hits you that they actually exist. They're real human beings that can really make that music and that fact doesn't actually hit you until it's right there in front of you.
I am so glad you reacted to this, I have been waiting for it. This is my favorite Pentatonix song of all time. The pure vocal harmonies are untouchable. I still get goosebumps every time I hear it.
I love it when people get choked up, speechless, teary eyed and moved by songs that PTX does. They always evoke such strong emotions and responses. LOVE THEM!!! ...just sayin'.
Love your reactions to all the songs you do. You are so honest and sensitive. It’s lovely to see real reactions like yours. Keep up the good work💕💕💕💕💕💕
You know... when an audience remains silent after a performance it's because the are so emotionally moved that they are still living in the moment of the music. I've been told this is the best form of flattery he for a performer. I loved watching this reaction video! It reflects the feelings of Pentaholics World Wide. 🙌👍
I always thought this song sounded like a prayer. I play it at night before I go to bed. Love your reaction, it's everything I feel when I hear "Run To You"
that was a great reaction,it was heart felt and a true reaction. Dont ever feel bad about showing tears and emotions guys.it shows just what good caring man you are.Marco i could see you trying to hold it togehter. and Ollie you looked like you was in another place, lost in the song for sure.Keep it up men,Great job
Wonderful and heart felt reaction, guys! Two things - did you notice that the snowflakes or what ever was falling during the verses was going up on the chorus? They actually learned how to mouth the words of the chorus backwards, with the flakes falling, then played the video backwards and sang over it. Since they are only singing a few words, "I'll run, run to you", they said it wasn't too hard. Also, there is a funny remix of this that they did. I know it's hard to think of laughing now, but here's the link when you're ready to check it out: ua-cam.com/video/O4sN45ADAAg/v-deo.html
So beautiful...but I always think of their hilarious remix (and especially Avi's face during it), which is also beautiful but for very different reasons!!!
I love to see when I have you guys in my notifications!!! This is a song I LOVE to watch people react to because, it's not one that actually gets me emotional - however - when I watch others react, THAT brings it out in me. I knew this was gonna hit you guys based on your Hallelujah reaction! I only cried watching 2 PTX songs - Sing & Imagine and I know the first one makes NO SENSE, but I attribute it to Frisson, which I do suffer from and PTX brings it out in me - EVERY TIME!
I find it fascinating that the Twin Psychics told them, Scott and Mitch, in a Superfruit episode, that the 5 of them had been united in previous lives which is why they synched SO VERY QUICKLY when the 'met' the day before the Sing-Off auditions...makes sense
This brought back memories of the days I sang in my high school chamber choir, especially when the eight of us would stand in a circle to practice, hearing the tight harmony all around me.
Never clicked on a video so quickly!! Yesssss! This is one of my PTX top 2 favorites. I have that same gut wrenching visceral response every time It's so beautiful on so many levels. Thank you for sharing. 💕
Knowing that Avi and Kevin wrote this has shifted my paradigm on this song a bit. Each of these individuals are highly spiritual and the Following God/Free Will pitfalls come into play. The first time I saw this video I sobbed. Truly amazing.
I AGREE WITH YOU. THIS SONG IS SO BEAUTIFUL. IT TOUCHES EVERY PART OF MY BEING. I COULD LISTEN TO IT FOR HOURS IN A LOOP. ALSO. ABOUT AVI. I WISH HE WAS BACK WITH PTX. IT WAS THE PERFECT FIT. HE ADDED A CERTAIN SEASONING TO THE GROUP THAT ONLY HE COULD GIVE. I DO LIKE MATT, THOUGH. VERY TALENTED.
It's so much fun watching you become a hardcore Pentaholic right before our eyes! LOL! They've got several really great original songs like "Sing", "Can't Sleep Love" and more! Hope ya'll continue reacting to PTX!!
SO glad you reacted to this one! I feel it never got the recognition it deserved, especially since its an original! One of my favorites of PTX for the pure harmonies in it. And love the lyrics as well. I almost wish they'd bring this back on tours instead of the slower covers, although I hope most of all we get more new work from them next yr!
I would be interested to observe and know what song impacts humans more than any other. You two were gripped almost immediately. I know I was too the first time, and without fanfare, will openly state tears fall every single time I hear this song. To see the bodily reactions to hearing this song is a story all its own. Silence, shaking, heart skips beats, breathing changes, Tears, overwhelming emotion, stunning, stimulating intimate relational thoughts, back to captivating silence. This song by these 5 makes the world stand still for a few minutes, like no other song we can name.
Man, I love watching you guys reacting to Pentatonix (I have seen all of your reactions to them). :o) I think the "B" section (I think that is what it is called) is my favorite.
that was absolutely beautiful! if you want another tear-jerker, with breathtaking harmonies, check out Home Free's "In The Blood " or "What We Ain't Got".
no doubt you've seen it by now but there's an awesome video of them doing this live off mic on their Euro tour - I think in Germany - at an amazing church venue. Thanks for your reactions: always fun to geek out over ptx!
I cried the first time I watched this, too, so no worries. It's a very emotional song, especially when you get to the bridge and realize the song is about trying to get someone back who has died. It's one of my top favorites of theirs. There is one that feels a little similar to this, and that's another original on their self titled album, Light in the Hallway. Avi takes lead on it, and it'll make you cry over Avi leaving. There isn't an official video, but you can always react to listening to it (Use Pentatonix Topic, as it's UA-cam's collection of their album songs). I would recommend that over a live version because it just sounds perfect on the CD.
the part about "take my heart and I'll lay down my weapons" takes me back a couple years to where my daughters dad and I got into a physical altercation in front of her (she was 13 at the time), in which she saw me taken away in handcuffs and she wanted nothing to do with me for a long time. We have since patched things up and have a wonderful relationship again. I sent her this video when we were on bad terms and she came around thank God!! I'll always Run to You, HDB :-)
Thanks for sharing your reaction to such a beautiful original of theirs! May I suggest checking out "Black Is The Color of My True Loves Hair" a cover by Avi Kaplan and Peter Hollens, it's an acapella done by the two of them with layered vocals. Avi sounds amazing in it!
This is an original, written by Avi and Kevin!
Really? I actually did not know that. Wow that's so awsome!
Yesssss
This makes me wonder if new pix will perform this or not.... I almost don't want them too, not without Avi. But like do Avi and Kevin own it?
Dang it, you tube should know I meant PTX.
Sarah Rosa I was also wondering about copyright/royalties. I’m guessing that the song belongs to Pentatonix, but the royalties would be split between Kevin and Avi. I think that that’s how it works with air time coverage. But I’m guessing that this song might not get much air time.

"That was breathtaking" perfect.
This song is so beautiful and the arrangement so hypnotic, it just carries me away into some other place. And Avi is so unique in his sound. I can't ever remember a bass that could be so deep, resonant, strong, soft and human; all at the same time.

These guys are my favorite “reactors.” I love that they don’t interrupt, and they’re SO SINCERE. I love it, and them
It truly is breathtaking. It's so beautiful I get emotional every time I hear it.
"Breathtaking" describes this perfectly. It is just as powerful no matter how many times I listen to it.
Don't be afraid to express your honest emotions.....the truth is beautiful!
Thank you for showing the same emotions we felt when we first heard it.
This is the first song that caught me after my father died. My mother had died 16 months before and I heard this gor the first time the week of my father's funeral. Your reaction of speechlessness at the end of the song was priceless. Words can't explain the emotions that run through...
No shame in tears when hearing that song. It's a most remarkable song. The dissonance and harmonies are just amazing. They subtly change the chords with each repeat of the chorus.

I love it when you react to the music the way I do. That last verse makes me teary eyed every time.
This is my favorite song they have ever written. It makes me cry every time, so I completely understand your reactions.
I know (Breath)SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL I love this song which is an original. I know u would love it.
I never get tired of listening to this. TY so much for the reaction. I felt that as you watched it.
I dont think they could sound bad if they tried
Love your reactions to all the songs you do. You are so honest and sensitive. It’s lovely to see real reactions like yours. Keep up the good work💕💕💕💕💕💕

You guys have to watch their Mary, Did You Know? music video! It’s UNBELIEVABLE
I always thought this song sounded like a prayer. I play it at night before I go to bed. Love your reaction, it's everything I feel when I hear "Run To You"
I play it to go to sleep, to calm my mind.
tight harmonies and beautiful dynamics = magic
that was a great reaction,it was heart felt and a true reaction. Dont ever feel bad about showing tears and emotions guys.it shows just what good caring man you are.Marco i could see you trying to hold it togehter. and Ollie you looked like you was in another place, lost in the song for sure.Keep it up men,Great job

You two are sweethearts. Your feelings are your feelings; let them show!
One of my favorite songs of theirs. And a great reaction from you both. I'm glad you both enjoyed it.♥️
I honestly live for these 5 part harmonies
Thank you so much for your heart felt reactions. It's always good to know that I am not alone in my love for and emotions form PTX.
Have always loved this song. Thanks for the reaction guys!
for another beautiful song, i suggest light in the hallway by pentatonix...especially a live version :)
Rebecca Zilburg I cried when they sang that in the Allentown concert
I love how Marco really gets emotional when PTX kills it.
Thank you for listening to my FAVORITE SONG!!!! ❤️🎶

RLH CAT one of my favorite goofy video of theirs!
So beautiful...but I always think of their hilarious remix (and especially Avi's face during it), which is also beautiful but for very different reasons!!!
This song carries my heart, every time! So beautiful! Loved your reactions too! You (we) are not alone!!
#PTXForever
I know this is sooooo old. But I just love your transparency 💜
Speechless the whole time. That's how you know it's good.
Aw, I want to hug you guys. Yes, when I first heard this song years ago it would hit me like a ton of bricks each time I heard it.
Let the emotions out! We get it 😉 haha. Thanks for always uploading these videos! I love watching!
you guys should see this one live!!!
is so perfect!! and P.S is way sad when you realize this song was written by Avi and Kevin...
This song is absolutely breathtaking. Go PTX! Thank you for sharing this song with us guys. Great reaction!

Honest reaction: sitting in silence at a loss for words.
I believe that is an original. It hits us all. So do the chills!
I just wanted to reach out and give you both hugs

Another wonderful PTX song and there's only 2 of theirs that provoke such a reaction in me and watching you both made it even more real.
I love this your emotional reaction ♥
The live version at a church in Berlin is indescribable.
I know I'm late to this show, and don't know if you even react anymore, but I'm working thru the PTX playlist and was SO EXCITED to find this one ❤
OUt of this world..magnificent..
It's so much fun watching you become a hardcore Pentaholic right before our eyes! LOL! They've got several really great original songs like "Sing", "Can't Sleep Love" and more! Hope ya'll continue reacting to PTX!!

Candle in the light live is very very very much recommended.
Love this song but did not know it was an original. Wow!
Such fun watching you - feel a little like a time traveller now though

Kia ora from New Zealand! Love your reactions - I think you would enjoy Scott and Mario Jose singing 'Lost on You' :)
React to Pentatonix Joy to the World!
Happiness but it's so good!
Avi said it well when they introduced the album. It is a song about longing.
Je m'appelle Lafayette Totally recommended!
💕guys.
As we are coming up on Halloween you should listen to their version of Ghostbusters.
Superfruit "How Ya Feeling?" music video please!
FINALLY!!!
