Hello my friend can you please help me out if you can, I followed all steps port forwarded activated DMZ I'm online my inbound has a check mark but outbound has a red X how to fix the outbound?
@@ia6980 if you find out let me know please trying to figure this out myself. I heard port one and Dmz the other
@@ia6980 i have the same exact problem
Excellent video. Ty. Sub'd
why 44158?
Hey Tario…thank you for all the clear and concise information, no fluff. Subscribed 🙏
Thank you Chuck! Means a lot!
THIS IS THE BEST EXPLANATION I'VE SEEN YET ON THIS ISSUE . YOU HAVE HELPED ME TREMENDOUSLY!!
Most welcome! Thanks for the kind words.
Dropping a comment to show some love and appreciation - after following your clear and concise guidelines, I now get the message that my port 44158 is open. Will give Bobcat Miner some hours hopefully the Relayed message will now disappear. Many thanks Tario!!
Love the "second case study", it's easy and straight forward. Thanks for your sharing. BTW, I subscribed your channel
Most welcome Mike! Thanks for the feedback!
I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly. I had to adjust the steps a little based on my specific router but other that that the video was spot on. Thank you!
Amazing! Glad it worked for you!
Phenomenal explanation. I was able to open up the port. Thank you. I will now wait 8-10 hours as you suggested to see if the relayed problem goes away. The only thing that I would add, that was not necessary for the routers you showed, is that some people need to add an external IP address (their router's public IP address) in addition to the local IP address (the helium hotspot) when setting up the port forwarding.
Thanks for the info.
How do i do it if i dont have a IP address of my router
Dude you are the man!!!!!! I did everything you did and I’m set up with open port 44158!! If you’re reading this. This is the way to handle the relay troubles. Thank you Bratha! I am in great debt to you and I’ll let everyone know to check you out Bratha!
Most welcome Andrew! Glad you figured it out!
Very detailed instructions! Just finished set up and waiting for changes. Thanks a lot.
Most welcome!
Awesome, video!! This helped us so much. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into breaking all this stuff down.💜💜💜
You’re very welcome Lucille! It brings joy and fulfilment when I see comments like yours!
6 hours later, videos, comments, going into attic, i was able to get it to say Port OPEN! thank you so much for the video!!
I’m glad it worked out for you!
My hotspot has been relaying for last few days despite troubleshooting with helium guidance.
Then followed steps in this video and it stopped relaying first go! Great explanation now even a pleb like myself can fix it
Thank you 🙏
Thanks for sharing
I already know how, but thank you so much for making this awesome video on how to port forward for 44158. Great job.
You’re very welcome!
Ty for this video!! This was the easiest tutorial to follow I have found so far ! I have a relayed bobcat I need to fix through a friends router and was not understanding the process. You made it very easy to follow.
So glad to hear that Andrea! Enjoy the mining!
Same here. Thanx and very clear. It was connected previously on my other satellite dish Internet but I have recently changed to starlink.
You've done a great job showing steps to get rid of relayed status. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Going to apply your video on my relayed issue with my Syncrobit Miner
Again really appreciate the discord group & your assisstance with this easy step by step video.
Any time!
You are a legened for this. Explained so nicely, i managed to sort it all in 5 min. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
What a truly amazing guide, thorough and well paced for beginners. Thanks so much.
Thank you for the kind words. Means a lot!
Great Video! Extra helpful for those fellow Canadians using the same provider. Thank you
Awesome! Glad you found some value!
Hey man thank you very much for putting the work to make this video. Helps out a lot. Cheers from Portugal
Great video, going to try this with my MNTD miner.
Thank you!
Great video - my situation is a bit more complex. I have a base router/modem from the ISP but the signal was weak. So I added two routers in different rooms and then connected the miner. Done port forwarding in the base router/modem from the ISP but the miner still says Hotspot is being relayed. Must I do a port forwarding on each of the two added routers as well and exactly how.
hey I see you posted this 3 months ago and I am in the same situation as you. If you figured this out can you tell me how because the last 3 days I cant get the relay to go away
Man thank you so much for this. My Bobcat miners have relayed issue and your video is super easy to follow thank you so much!
Most helpful and in depth video on how to fix this issue. Thank you.
You’re very welcome!
Hi Tario! Great video, was able to open the port, however, my helium still says relayed. Do you know how long should I wait or if there is anything else I should try? Thanks!
one of my miners took 8-10hrs, the other one 2hrs, so really depends, I'd say leave it for up to 24 hours to get the update.
Great video! I was wondering, though, since this is not mentioned in the setup, is this something that should be done for every hotspot during setup or should we wait to see if 'relayed' pops up to address it?
Thanks for all of your very well-done videos!
It should be done on every hotspot during setup.
@@tariosultan OK, so now I'm trying. Unfortnately I just found out that my ISP won't allow residential customers to set static IPs or do port forwarding. I'm going to be looking into changing ISPs or trying to hook a second router to this network (not sure if that will work or not).
Best of luck! Hopefully get it fixed soon!
I purchased a Netgear Nighthawk cable modem router and have successfully assigned a static IP and opened port 44158 (checked with Portchecker). My miner, however, is still showing a yellow light (I can ping it locally) and the Helium website shows 'relayed' and syncing. I am not unable to run Diagnostics with the app (shows the miner but then errors out when trying to access it; rebooted many times). I apologize for bothering you here but I am unable to get on Discord to ask any questions (my phone is associated with some phantom account). Any suggestions?
BTW, I do have a second, brand-new miner but I was planning to use it in another location. If I were to use it here, would I be able to move either one to another location later and reconfigure it a second time for the new location?
Have you tried a power cycle? Unplug it, wait for a few mins then plug it back?
You can reinsert location any time you want, the fee is $10.
A very well done instructional video. I am glad I watched. Explained thoroughly.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Tario for a concise video on fixing relayed Helium Hotspots. Already liked and subscribed. 🎈
Awesome! Thx for the sub!
Hi , thanks for the detailed guide! I saw this "For support and firmware updates, we will need ports 22 and 443 open Outbound" How do I do that? Is it the same process as port forwarding?
Those two ports should be open by default. Get 44158 open and keep an eye on your miner status.
after you complete all these items does the app stay in "relaying"mode for the 8-10 hours before mapping over to the correct mode?
It will stay for a bit then clear out. (Usually within 24hours)
Very detailed and helped me out a lot. Now all that’s left is the waiting game 😊
Glad it helped! Enjoy the mining!
Thorough instructions and very informative. Great video!
Thank you Michael!
Great jon indeed! One question, if I am using the ethernet cable should I enter ethernet-MAC instead of WI-FI MAC?
Correct.
Tario, thank you for all the help you've been! Great videos!
I do have a problem I need help with and that is removing one of my miners from my hex. I asserted them both at the same location to allow Bobcat to update the software from 2019 to current. That took over a month! Now, both are online and working but they are impacting each other (transmit scale .43) and I need to remove one of them but have only seen how to re-assert at another location. I don't have another location and just need to "de-assert" one of them!
Any suggestions? I would be asking on Discord but my account was mistakenly shutdown and I'm waiting for Discord to re-enable it :-(
Thanks so much!
Things to consider:
1. move one of the miner to ideal location.
2. connect it to the new location wifi (or ethernet)
3. go to helium app
4. choose the miner, top right corner you'll see a gear icon (⚙️)
5. Update Hotspot
6. Update Location -> Change Location
To assert to a new location you're going to need 10.00 USD worth of HNT. First times free, just like crack, but you'll have to pony up to move again
THANK YOU!!! finally got it figured out thanks to this video.
You’re welcome!
I have watched many, many videos on how to fix this, but I was unable to be successful until I followed your video. It may have been the disabling of the UPnP that finally did it for me. Now my port is open and I await the network to recognize it.
Thanks again
You're welcome! Give it some time, hopefully network will update your miner soon!
Hi Tario, I was able to get the port open during syncing (when I got the relayed message). I left it overnight and the next morning, the port is closed and I did the same setup but port remains closed. Any thoughts why?
Did the relayed status go away at all?
Hey Tario, I followed all steps as mentioned in the video. I even disabled the UPnP but I am still getting port is closed when I check at portchecker. Do you have any other suggestion? Could it be the ISP blocking this port? Do I need to request for a static IP from my ISP to solve this issue? Thanks, Jean
Having the same issue
Won’t matter after the 19th
Hi Jean, I'm facing same problem. Did You solve it?
@@user-dz5gb9cg3o yes I requested a static ip from my local operator.
Thank you so much for this great video for dummies like me. Did this a few hours ago and I'm reading it can take 48 hours for the relayed issues to go away. lets hope it worked.
Best guide which i seen for relayed hnt , thks a lot
Thank you!
Probably one of the best videos regarding this fix, i have tried everything and still no luck, it went off relayed and then after a while back again, could it be the NAT type, as everything else seems correct, and in this case i cannot change it from my settings, should i contact my ISP to open the port for me? thanks again for the amazing video
You’re welcome! Glad it’s helpful. I have one miner that had similar issue like yours. The relayed came back after a week or so. Here are a few points you can consider:
1. Firewall security: I set to NAT only.
2. IPv6 Firewall security level: off
3. DMZ hosting enabled and added bobcat miner in the setting.
Give them a try.
Best of luck!
@@tariosultan How much time need to wait, after router settings was changed
I just follwed all steps still in relay but hands down the best video explaining how.
I waited for like 8-10 hours, some times could be less than that.
Thank you Jason!
The port is open but it’s still relayed so you think it matters
Patiently wait it out.
Takes 12 to 30 hours from my experience
Opened my port and it took a little over 24 hours for the status to update
@@digsy23 it’s open now if you have a motem and router open ports on the router admin settings and then port forward the router in your modem settings that is what opened up the port for me
comments are spot on, after tons of videos this one was the best and most helpful, thank you and good luck mining!
Thank you Joey! Means a lot!
Very good easy to understand video tutorial! Keep up the amazing help and videos 🤩🙌🏻👌🏻
Thank you!
Thank youths was the final video I watched that helped me get rid of the issue, and it went away literally 3 hours after doing what u said thank you.
Awesome! Glad I could help!
Still waiting for mine but good to know in advance some troubleshooting. Huge thanks.
You’re welcome Oscar!
I didn't have a relay problem, but set it up this way with R7800 netgear router. Now to get a real antenna installed on my roof. Thanks for the vid.

Thanks for the info Tario! I watched the video a few times and I was able to get the Green open!! Thanks Again!
You’re welcome Jonathan!
Because I watched your video, I’m up and running perfectly!
Thanks a lot! The issue was solved. Nat_type was symetric instead of none, in my case. Great tutorial!

Amazing, dude! I definately check it if the bobcat gets relayed.

I really appreciate this Video I tried firstly without disabling the UPnP but this didn't work but I went back in and after I disabled it, I havent had any issues so far.
that's amazing! thanks for sharing Paul!
Thank you! I've been putting off trying to figure this out. I was able to set it up and see that the port is open in Port Checker. Now waiting 8-10 hours to see if that "Relayed" status goes away. Thanks again.
Glad I could help!
did it work?
great explanation, thank you!
Welcome!
You're the man, great video! After a couple video's on UA-cam I found yours. You do a great job of breaking it down for any router so I can know what I'm changing and not just showing how to change it on a specific device. Just got mine updated, let's hope I'm good to go!!!
Thank you for sharing Been! Glad it’s helpful!
Thanks for the awesome video. So helpful !
