Hi Martin. Detailed and very clear explanation as ever. I have the same product sitting in my garage so it looks like I have another project to keep me busy. 😂 Ride safe.
A nice little job to keep you out of trouble in this horrible weather and now people will take notice when I use my horn. thanks for taking the time to comment👍
Excellent walkthrough, very useful - well done Martin. I was wondering how you were going to position this model. TBH the 2-piece version would be my first port of call with maybe each part fitted either higher up on those down tubes or maybe even right near the bottom, I dunno, only IMO the single unit is a bit too bulky. But yeah it's subjective and I'm sure most onlookers will be too busy admiring the whole bike to notice. Again, really great share. 👍
Hi Andrew, to be honest I didn't think the single unit was as big as it turned out and I didn't want to have cables and a hose running between them but Im sure with a little thought all could be hidden. Certainly if I was to do it again I would give the 2 piece a little more consideration & may look better. But one thing im sure about is the noise, its bloody loud. Thanks for taking the time to comment👍
Hi Martin Love watching all your Sportglide videos. I was wanting to install this same horn but I was unsure of the clearance at the front of the bike. Does it snag or foul on any parts of the bike at full lock both ways??
Hello mate, no it doesn't snag at all. It comes closest on the left lock but still clears comfortably. However before you buy one, just give the split version a thought as it may be more discreet and thats a personal thing. Im happy with the way my one looks and my Son & Son-in-Laws who ride with me agree but thought I would mention it. The down side of the split one is finding two ways to mount and the air hose that runs between them. One thing is for sure, everyone will know you are there. Hope that is of some help
Hi Martin, I don’t know if you have encountered this problem since doing this video. I mounted my horn in the same place as you. However, one day an idiot ran a red light as I was going through a major intersection. I slammed on my front brake thus getting out of a nasty potential situation. When I got home and parked the bike I noticed a large dint in my front guard. Because of the braking my guard met my horn and the compressor had punched into the guard. I needed a serious panel beater to do the repair and now it’s repainted it looks like a bought on. I ended up having to mount the horn in another place.
Oh Wow Robert, I need to look at that. At least you are ok and it was only minor cosmetics on the bike but I bet you were gutted when you saw it. Just goes to show, stupid is just round the next bend. He/she is there the question is can you see them
@@robertwatson39 just goes to show that concentration is key and always look for stupid because there are waiting for us. sorry to confuse you Robet, this is my detailing channel and I couldn't be bothered to switch
One quick question if i may? Does the horn not hit the front fender under heavy breaking?? i only ask as i have the same bike and i am looking for a solution to get this horn on the bike, and i had concidered placing it where you have but i was worried it would hit the front fender under heavy breaking. if not. then i have a nice weekend coming up :) thanks for the really good video 👍
Hello Ross, see comment below from @robertwatson39 who had a situation where he had to brake suddenly and the horn hit his fender causing some damage. I then took my bike out and did a number of emergency braking but had no issues. Maybe when you are in a real situation you brake harder 🤷🏻♂. So although I have kept my horn in the original position it may well be worth looking for a different place to mount it. I would contact @robertwatson39 below to understand what he did. Hope thats of some help.
