  • This is a video about a Journey with me to the picturesque region of Washuk in Balochistan, a hidden gem abundant with lush palm trees, situated on the outskirts of this province, just 450 km away from Quetta. I ventured to Washuk via the scenic Nag pass, capturing the breathtaking landscapes along the way.
In this video, I'll take you on a tour of the fascinating places I explored during my trip. Dive into the rich history of Washuk, as we learn that it all began with Hazrat Malik Dinar, a dervish from Bamboor, Iran.
He, along with his devotees, made this land their home. Legend has it that during his night stay, he uttered the word "Wabshud," which later evolved into "Washuk" and marked the birth of this unique region.
Malik Dinar's legacy lives on through the palm trees he planted, which continue to adorn the city. His family later settled here, and you can pay your respects at the graves of Malik Dinar and his kin. Washuk boasts a diverse array of date palms, with their dates reaching far and wide across Pakistan.
The room-like structure housing Malik Dinar's grave is an architectural wonder, with a roof made of palm leaves. Nearby, the Shari spring flows alongside the palm trees, creating a serene atmosphere.
Within the palm groves, you'll find another magnificent mausoleum with a stone dome brought from afar and intricately designed walls. The tomb accommodates seven graves, and the exterior stones bear exquisite designs.
While time has taken a toll on the bricks used for construction, leaving some missing due to theft, this historic tomb still stands proudly atop a mound. The surrounding graves and palm groves add to the area's charm.
Just 20 km away from Washuk lies Masjid Ashab, a mosque built on a hillock. It is believed that companions of the Prophet PBUH constructed this mosque, with its walls crafted from mountain stones. Although the mosque lacks a roof, its historical significance is undeniable. For a meaningful visit, consider engaging a local guide.
Don't forget to explore the unique library within Washuk City, a project completed in less than two months by Deputy Commissioner Shafqat. Although the book collection is modest, the selection is impressive, featuring both Urdu and English books. The walls are adorned with inspiring quotes from renowned personalities.
When you're in Washuk, check out these captivating sites, steeped in history and surrounded by natural beauty. Your journey through this remarkable region is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
