Re upload due to youtube's compression software. It seems the codecs youtube uses can be different depending upon the device used to upload and the device used to view videos. On my PC this video is in clear 4k running yt's VP09 codec, but viewing it on my Mac or iPhone / iPad its blurry 1080p using avc1 codec. go figure.
Greatly improved. My old GTX 660Ti video card couldn't handle VP9 and the software decoding was abysmally bad. No idea if that will be a problem for people still. Lowering the playback resolution would probably fix it and still look better than the old video anyway.
as per your Ruckus comment... my brother and sister don't have mc licenses and I was considering getting them Ruckuses (Ruckusi? not sure the plural of Ruckus). The lack of fuel injection and low air intake is concerning me as we have to do some water crossings and the altitude will play havoc on the carbs when we reach Colorado. they just need to bite the bullet and get their licenses. Honda will be releasing the CT125 in the future and that may be an option worth looking into.
Mitch Crane I actually privately uploaded another version of this video as a test and was able to get a full 4K upload even better than this one, I’m not going to remove this one but my next video should be pretty crisp.
I hope you don't stop doing Honda Monkey videos. Everything about your videos is great from an informational and technical standpoint. Great camera and sound work. You capture everything and it looks like fun. If you do the trip with your brother and sister. Make videos of that trip. I'd love to see it. Thanks for the Monkey Adventure. I want to buy a Monkey!
Excellent production value. I have a yellow 2019 Monkey. I love it. Consider the CB300f or a Rebel 300 for your family, 125 is really small for travel. I do 100 miles in the Florida Keys from time to time on the Pimp Chimp, it hurts me and the Chimp. Monkey on!!
Ordered my yellow Monkey today. Can’t wait. I’ve been longing to see one of these do the TAT. My dream ride and I think the Monkey will handle it just fine.
From the riding and range tests I’ve been doing- I think it’ll handle the ride just fine. The only trouble spot I’ve had is finding a rack with suitable strength for carrying all the gear.
Well it’s no small undertaking but worth the effort I think. I live in the U.K., used to live in Fl many years ago, but the TAT is on my bucket list. Great channel BTW. Really enjoy your uploads. Nice GMT BTW. Keep up the good work.
As a nature lover that forest is stunnin!! I see you as a filmmaker your editing is spot on! Such a cool bike I like it you have it tripped out. I have Moto camp next to Kern river here in Southern California. Nothing better than that sound Cheers mate
Lol. Actually I made that shirt, I wanted some a Brompton swag but didn’t like anything I saw so I used an art app on my iPad and and a company called Printiful to make 3 of them. The “blueprint” design on the back was a total pain to get right.
Cool to here you family history and that adventure sounds great to this 54 year old man, I’m looking at getting a monkey just for the hell of it to ride the backroads of East Tennessee.
I have a 1976 Honda CB125S and I've watched a couple of these Monkey videos. I really thought the Monkey is a really small bike, but I think it's actually the same size as my CB. My CB tank is a 1.5, it's kickstart only, which I always thought would be neat until the times it doesn't want to start, which is most of the time. I wanted a kickstart because I thought it would be easier to have a bike that you wouldn't have to worry about the battery dying. Well, wouldn't you know? If you don't have a charged battery, your kickstart bike won't start? How awesome! Also, having an antique dirt bike that you get titled and turn into a little street legal duelsport, it doesn't have an oil filter. So, you just change the oil a lot more often, and it's a 6 volt system, which is really fun to find parts for. Yup. I might just trade my CB in for a Monkey. Great video, man!
another GREAT monkey video! ...by the way, i've had a commercial video production company for over 30 years now, and your vids are excellent! looking forward to watching more of them-- :D :D
Awesome load on the Monkey. I’ve had an inflatable kayak and an accordion 🪗 on mine. These bikes are just so usable. Keep up the great work 🐵 JOIN THE MONKEY REVOLUTION 🐒 cheers Dix (Manchester England 🏴)
That was nice, is it realy a bike to do that cross amarica tripp? I have just got a 2019 Monkey here i Norway. Just love the bike, beth yor`e a tuff guy to do that crossing.Me like..... verry much.
Just found your channel today. The story about your family seems to me very interesting, Did you do that journey with your sister and brothers? Graet to hear from you. Best wishes from Germany
If you end up with the T Rex rear cargo rack please let us know how it goes quality wise. Would like to get one as well. Wanted to share my Monkey accepted the DID420V Oring chain (oring master link included). Found it on Amazon with 100 links so I only had to chop off 2 links. I dont have and chain install tools so getting that master link sandwiched down was hard because of the orings, but after much toil it's on, twice, since I was a fool and forgot to use the included grease packet to grease up the master link before installing it. Im pleased to share there was no chain drag issues either. I was worried my mph would be diminished from the no oring vs oring drag stats. Your no engine mods are what I'm about too. Just ordered my Yoshi after listening to yours. Sounds so cool and looks awesome. I hope your family reunion goes great and what a cool reunion that would be. Take care and be safe. 🤠👍
I am going to order the rack on Friday, I’ll make a video about it when I install it. I did just install Doubletake ADV mirrors, much better view than stock but a little viby. Had to place a 2nd order though as base extensions are needed to clear the brake reservoir for folding. LMK how that oring chain works out.
@@UncleVoodoo Just realized there most likely will be a fitment issue with my current Kitaco Skid Plate and my upcoming Yoshi header pipe. Ugh! Yeah I will share how that works out.
@@UncleVoodoo Well maybe that means they are good racks then? Yeah I've received input the header pipe and right side bracket of the plate will be in the way. I will try and rig something though otherwise I'm out a couple hundred bucks. The Yoshi takes the cake over the plate, but I hate those rocks tinking the engine. I just took the Monkey on a quick speed run. Zero issues still with the DID420V oring. You can tell the feel is a bit stiffer if that makes sense, but it's a new chain too. I constantly check the master link and carry a spare one just in case. Its holding up well. Since I'm older with neck and back stuff I cannot put it through off road paces like you can. The instructions still say lube every 300 even though its oring. But if I can adjust it less it will be worth it that alone. Hey, love the way you claimed that camping spot. Totally reminded me of that gang on the Walking Dead series that would see something they want and stroll up and say "Claimed!". And the guys response "Whachew ridin over there?" Then the silent pause that followed after you said a Monkey. I was waiting to hear a banjo slowly start playing Deliverance porch music 😅. And then I thought I hope Uncle Vodoo is packing 🤠. Seriously I think its plausible someone would mug us for our 🐒 these days.
I have a Grom but I am looking to buy a 22 Monkey also. But the trouble is finding one. All dealers are out of them. TransAmerican trip on a miniMoto is what I dream of doing also..
Just subscribed, love your videos! I have a 2022 monkey but also have a rear rack that is too flimsy, did you find a rack that is substantial and can hold some weight? Please share if you did.

Still looking and want one but it just looks like the exhaust will hit everything doing anything off road. that is the only reason I have held off. Have you had any issue with that I know you said you go around stuff but that is not always possible. Any thoughts?
