Caribbean Electric Ceiling Fan

- Caribbean Electric 52" ceiling fan in antique brass. Not a lot of indication with this one; only sticker says "Manufactured By Caribbean Electric Inc.", model C-528. It was fairly clean and looked well taken care of, but the original owners probably never used it considering the noise! Motor could definitely do with an adjustment. I hadn't even applied power before assembling it all together, otherwise I might have attempted some intervention beforehand, but since it was already up I wasn't going to not record the video. If I get back around to it and make progress, I will do a new video. Really, a lot of the noise is vibration through the metal and blades when it hits the bad spot. That aside, it's a pretty decent performer despite the skinnier blades. Looks like probably a 188mm motor of some form, stamped steel construction, but definitely sizable. I hate that it has the hugger style drop-down arms; I understand their function on huggers, but stylistically speaking I really don't like how they look on ANY fan. Paired with the skinny blades, not my favorite fan in terms of appearance, but I do like the kind of weirder details of all the motor components. I have a bit of a collection niche now with a few of these odd mid-late 80s GE vent variants. Nothing standout or particularly interesting, but just each with their own little details that make them a little weird, and therefore interesting by proxy. If this had been in any worse condition, I probably would've immediately parted out, so at least it's in pretty nice shape physically.

Never Have I Ever Seen A Ceiling Fan That Could Play The Bass Harmonica Like That!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Noisy, but great and powerful!
I love the sound full speed.
There is an antique store near me that has maybe 18 of these in AB/cane and four in PB/White/cane. I thought they were all set to medium. But seeing this video, they must be set to low. All loud af. Two not working and one with badly mismatched blade arms. Seeing the performance on high, next time I stop by there, I may encourage them to crank them up to quiet them down and run better!
Cute fan! Gotta love the GE vent fans.
Could it be a newer version of Moss Heirloom? Former owner of Encon said David Moss said CEC stands for Caribbean Electric Co because of their brand Caribbean Breeze and he wanted to deceive customers. And someone else said that Caribbean Electric could be originally Moss.
Wow so good
That cyclic flux buzz really does make me wonder how the original owners didn’t get rid of the fan sooner.
Ok so these are the ones I used to think were made by CEC as a kid, however we know CEC never went by Caribbean Electric.
Is it made in Taiwan? If so, probably Air Cool, but could be Halsey.
These were sold as Design House.
Yes, Taiwan. Design details are weird, but the motor looks generally like others that I know to be Air Cool.
Design House! Core memory unlocked. I think this model sat on our Fleet Farm's display well beyond its lifespan. I picture it with these hugger-type blade arms. There was a little separate corner with random out of date stuff all through my early years that they never touched or changed. I liked this one because it was so similar to the NuTone Decorator in our house at the time, at least from what I could recognize then. I'd almost completely forgotten about that.
@@vfandm your memory is correct.
@@vfandm Fleet Farm indeed sold these as Design House, sometimes with the hugger arms. Some stores also installed them, at least around here. The once closest to Reece used to have a ton over the registers.
Why the fan so loud
Hi there
Ooof…not exactly bedroom fan material 🙉
