- In this video I present the three Stanley pliers for electrical work. They are the 7-inch standard or lineman's pliers, 6-inch long nose pliers, and 7-inch diagonal cutters. The pliers were made of carbon steel which was a tough material but prone to rust so one needs to take care of it by keeping them dry and oiled when not in use. I like that they were also quite affordable and readily available for local users. They were not high leverage design though, so cutting thick cables requires much more effort. I also conducted a DIY insulation test on the handles to determine their insulation resistance. This is not a substitute for a proper IR test, nor an endorsement to use them on or near energized conductors. I just wanted to find out if the Dyna Grip handles had insulation properties and by how much, just in case I accidentally get them in contact with live conductors. They were indeed good insulators, at least in this brand new condition.
