John McGeoch is seriously a true guitar hero. Aside from the amount of skill and grace he had playing, he just seemed to possess a certain magical quality that inspired anyone who heard him play. R.I.P.
LightFromADeadStar So true, John was a gem on the guitar, from Magazine on he was the best punk guitarist of his generation. Sadly missed. The Banshees were at their best with him on board.
I seem to like every band with McGeoch in. In terms of post punk guitarists he's my fave I reckon. Didn't realise Lou did live work with PIL back in 88
+1000fantomas and he played with Siouxsie and The Banshees,Magazine and Visage as well ,but he unfortunality died ,great guitarist and musician,so sad!
Bruce Smith is such a good drummer who goes completely under the radar! He's so good during this era and his playing on 9 is a textbook example of HOW to play for a song while still getting to play cool/fun drum stuff!
mcgeoch and randy roads are my guitar hero's.( it's ok if you don't like my choice ) but lu edmonds is a guitar god. great work on music for pleasure with the damned.
Poor Allan. That 1989 tour almost killed him. Tin foil after shows with members of The Sugarcubes. I know, because I was one of them. His only addiction now is riding his bike. Lovely man
McGeoch, even at his worst makes it all look easy ... like I would be able to play PIL´s entire catalogue by tomnorrow. Still , he never quite figured out the fucking total lunacy Keith was connected to ... not even close. His work with The banshees is some of my favourite guitar work of all time on any records, any style though
it doesn't undercut , it adds texture and depth. but yes, he is probably not even known to the masses and we all know how important that is.............................
The people who matter know who both are and that their contribution to guitar music and textured guitar music or more important than any other guitar players including Keith Levene
00:13 - hmmmm , not being a posterboy for animal rights or anything BUT that is just such a fucked up thing to do ... if you know anything about snakes you know they fear humans as much , if not more , as we fear them ... imagine getting thrown into a snakepit , Indiana Jones style lol , so there you go, that is how that poor creature is feeling in the middle of that crowd .
WTF !!! Who said he prefers this to Jah Wobble /Levene/Atkins ????? That is the classic PIL line up ! What fucks me up is that they´re all alive and in great shape and for money issues we do not get to watch that line up perform together ever again ... last I heard John wanted to pay a key player like Wobble what he would pay some unknown nobody session player - fuck that ! Total disrespect , no wonder both Keith and Wobble told him to go get f***** and did their own thing .
No Guitarist added more color and texture to his playing than John McGeoch in any Genre. That beautiful mane of hair. I would have gone Gay for John McGeoch. Fucking Alcohol (and Drugs) seem to take the best away from us, like Rory Gallagher.
OK... maybe Ralph Towner has more color and texture on the album "Solstice". Different Genre, but check it out and prepare to be Amazed at the Musicianship!
Sounds like they were trying to do their own take on how Walker, Wobble and Levine played it. Not great. Even J. McG's normally rock-solid interpretation was wayward, and Lydon's lyrics were all over the place.
John McGeoch is seriously a true guitar hero. Aside from the amount of skill and grace he had playing, he just seemed to possess a certain magical quality that inspired anyone who heard him play. R.I.P.
Levene als McGeoch
Two brilliant guitarists
John McGeoch, one of my favourite guitarists of all time and sadly missed.
Indeed!
Agreed 👍
Totally wasted in PIL though - his playing in Magazine and SIouxsie was peerless
@@ash231266 never agreed with a UA-cam comment more mate.
Mine too, very sad…
John McGeoch my absolute guitar hero ❤️
John McGeoch, a brilliant guitarist.
Hope you have all heard John McGeochs work with Magazine & Siouxsie and the Banshees
Of course, there can only be so many poseurs in here .
THE innovator. THE guitarist of that generation.

John McMeoch was a genius! And you don't get many of them to the pound!
John McGeoch....the top with Siouxsie !
lu edmonds=one of the best guitarists most have never heard of....lol
the texture made by mcgeoch and lu is magic
Best era when John was playing with PIL. The whole band were brilliant.
Levene, metal box
Mcgeoch was brilliant but agree Metal Box era with Levene and Wobble was the best.
Agreed
Public Image, the greatest comeback single of all time.
McGeoch…underrated Legend
RESPECT !!!! RESPECT AND RESPECT THIS MAN !!!!! PIL AND JOHN LYDON !!!! This man is a legend !!!!!
The guitar sounds good
This was amazing for these people so soon after liberation.
Well, Tallinn, 1988? What a surprise, I would never think that PIL played a gig in Soviet Union at that time! Excellent show anyway!
How fucking wonderful does that gig look? Fantastic. Wish I could’ve been there for that one.
This gig basically started the downfall of Soviet Union
I really miss John McGeoch ;^(
Was he touring with Siouxsie back in '03?
Joseph L'Amour no he was kicked out in 1982 for drinking problems, such a shame banshees were never the same without him
LightFromADeadStar So true, John was a gem on the guitar, from Magazine on he was the best punk guitarist of his generation. Sadly missed. The Banshees were at their best with him on board.
Best guitarist for Banshes.

john mcgeoch the best guitar new wave dark
guitarist from left is (rip) John McGeoch former member of The Armoury Show
+1000fantomas and he played with Siouxsie and The Banshees,Magazine and Visage as well ,but he unfortunality died ,great guitarist and musician,so sad!
Johnny Rotten looks like a character from the Fifth Element here 😂 🤣
Excellent lineup here
John's outfits never cease to amaze me 😉 hot. Can see that was one hell of a show. Too bad I wasn't even alive yet to experience it.
it's so strange to see a whole band tripping in such high definition... those facial expressions are eerie!
Bruce Smith is such a good drummer who goes completely under the radar! He's so good during this era and his playing on 9 is a textbook example of HOW to play for a song while still getting to play cool/fun drum stuff!
Exactly. The playing on "Worry" and "USLS 1" are incredible.
@@jamlane Many excellent songs on "9".
I wish I was not 3 years old back then :D, to join the gig
mcgeoch and randy roads are my guitar hero's.( it's ok if you don't like my choice ) but lu edmonds is a guitar god. great work on music for pleasure with the damned.
funny.....those are my two favourites. You are not alone.
my long lost brother ! so many great guitarist and bands it's all just flavors. like ice-cream . are you in u.k.?
You can learn a lifetime’s worth between those two players
John McGeoch, the best.
with the banshees
I saw them in London that same year and they also did Holidays in The Sun there
Poor Allan. That 1989 tour almost killed him. Tin foil after shows with members of The Sugarcubes. I know, because I was one of them. His only addiction now is riding his bike. Lovely man
Delete Better the foil then the pin!
Delete Bilderberg I’m still riding!🤷🏽♂️
бля , я же был на этом рок -зуммер 1988 в Таллине!!!с ума сойти,почти 30 лет прошло...
McGeoch, even at his worst makes it all look easy ... like I would be able to play PIL´s entire catalogue by tomnorrow. Still , he never quite figured out the fucking total lunacy Keith was connected to ... not even close.

1/3rd of Tallinn went to see this gig and that is not an exaggeration
А где танки ?Не видел их там.Ближайшие в Тонди были
had no idea it was filmed! love this show! thank you so much for sharing
Lu Edmonds doesn't get enough credit. I suppose sharing a stge with John McGeoch would under cut anyone.
+William Sullivan John McGeogh is a legend
it doesn't undercut , it adds texture and depth. but yes, he is probably not even known to the masses and we all know how important that is.............................

Lu Edmonds for LIFE!!!!!!!!
AWESOME
PIL at there very best 👌
The only person in the world besides Beyonce that could sing in socks and be absolutely adored.
Nice one pil
Spot on Ruaidhri, metal box is amazing, they definitely dipped in for when wobble and levene left.
7:25 John “GUITAR HERO” McGeoch ❤
you can almost see time passing them by in the wind, happens to everyone eventually.
Better times, when John McGeoch was alive and Lydon wasn’t a tory
00:13 - hmmmm , not being a posterboy for animal rights or anything BUT that is just such a fucked up thing to do ... if you know anything about snakes you know they fear humans as much , if not more , as we fear them ... imagine getting thrown into a snakepit , Indiana Jones style lol , so there you go, that is how that poor creature is feeling in the middle of that crowd .
Not to mention the sound.
Anything with JMG on it, most people post about him. Not so much about Lydon here.
you prefer this lineup from 1988 to Keith Levene and Jah Wobble. Have you listened to metal box?
WTF !!! Who said he prefers this to Jah Wobble /Levene/Atkins ?????
That is the classic PIL line up ! INTERVIEWS IN THE MIDDLE OF A KICK-ASS PERFORMANCE? WTF?
07:22 ...I bet Steve Vai didn´t think of that guitar interlude ...
No Guitarist added more color and texture to his playing than John McGeoch in any Genre. That beautiful mane of hair. I would have gone Gay for John McGeoch. Fucking Alcohol (and Drugs) seem to take the best away from us, like Rory Gallagher.
2:15 Estonian Paul Cook , 2:25 Estonian Glen Matlock....

Fuckin Millie Vanillies kickin!
Well you cant argue with that
OK... maybe Ralph Towner has more color and texture on the album "Solstice". Different Genre, but check it out and prepare to be Amazed at the Musicianship!
This is not the last gig with Lu, as he's in the "new" incarnation of PiL.
His last PiL gig for two decades.
He's also been a longstanding member of the Mekons.
Buenisimo... de donde sacaste esto man!!!!??
How long did he live after this attempt at out beating beatles?
Anchor isn’t margarine…..
Lu Edmonds, SUCH an underrated guitarist.
who the fuck takes a snake to a festival?
Punks.
I dont suppose you have the Big Country footage from this event do you?
Fack off!!!!
i second that motion
Hope u met up with kostabi lisa
Is that Doug Stanhope at 2:14?
+Genuine Chocolate Face Igor Stanhope his cousin...
That's just about killed me haha
So Lydon woke up one day and thought I want Whoopi Goldberg's hair style.
Can anyone tell me what the name of the song is before they do rise
Home off Album
RiP:JohnMcGeoch!!
where is Steve Vai????
It's drop dead fred😂😂😂
Iso Brittania sounds like Pearl Necklace by ZZ Top
Does the snake want to be there ?......For PIL ?.....Definitely.....
Is that alan dias on bass ?
Yes
I worked with him 20 years ago in Connecticut
the title is misspelled. it's russian and should be glasnoSt rock. it's a soviet term meaning something like "public" or "open" in english.
i thought it was a pun on glasnost
Glasnost: openness (political debate); freedom of expression (civic/cultural)
Sid wouldn't be caught dead in that outfit.
Snakes loved PIL
Johnny Rotten = Talent Limited.
so '80..
So much E.
McGeoch just crawled out of bed
OK, who brought the snake?
Who brings a snake to a festival? That's hardcore.
Alice Cooper.
p.i.l the cure 4 corona ,been listening to it years still ok,,,,
the crowd looks like Duran Duran
It was in Ussrs, in that time you could be arrested for inappropriate dressing...
Who brings a live snake to a music festival?
three redheads
Vaudeville
Забыл уже, что такое и было....
Джонни решил пародировать Ари Ап
playback is a trickery
Glasnost not Glasnot
Drummer is playing the wrong beat
Sounds like they were trying to do their own take on how Walker, Wobble and Levine played it. Not great. Even J. McG's normally rock-solid interpretation was wayward, and Lydon's lyrics were all over the place.
hot blondies in the audience
Too bad the dopey cameraman doesn't know to focus on the guitarist at the proper time
to be honest I think John Lydon became a cringe worthy parody of himself after Keith Levene and Jah Wobble left.
Agreed. Those first few years of PIL should've been the last.
Who brings a reptile to a music festival...ridiculous.
