Mia, within 20 minutes, you were able to show me how to successfully make a collage within a collage, creating a much better overall collage. I appreciate the way you place and cut pieces, which will make my work easier and much more cohesive. I saw the overall collage first, then tried to see the 3 smaller collages, like I used to create when patchwork quilting. I was doing the same thing then, however, I hadn’t thought about doing this with paper. I find this rather amusing. I will struggle so much less using this way of dividing and placing my paper pieces. Thank you so very much, Mia. Hope you have a splendid weekend.
I love your work! I am working my way through your basic collage compositions, but I was beginning to get discouraged as they are so simple. I tend to like detail, lots of detail. Yet I love your work because it is so simple. I am excited about these layouts. They are simple and detailed. I look forward to trying this. Thank you.
Good morning Mia, another great video. I saw the collages as a whole, then noticed the smaller ones. I always appreciate your time and creativity. Have a wonderful weekend. ❣
Hi Phyllis, it's interesting to know that you saw the collage as a whole first. I love when I see more details in artwork the longer I look at it. I hope you have a creative weekend!
Years ago, after high school, a friend of mine got heavily into 3D art. He was so disappointed in me, so frustrated with me, that I could never see the hidden Starship Enterprise or dragon or whatever was there. He'd get so agitated, "Kelly, it's right THERE!" But I could never see it. As it turns out, there was a reason for that: I have been blind in my left eye since the age of five, and seeingthe images absolutelyrequired bilateral vision. When it comes to seeing the smaller collages within the large, at first I did struggle. However, by the end of the video, where you reviewed what you'd created, I found my eye (literally one single sighted eye lol) becoming adjusted to seeing the smaller collages as separate inside a whole. Admittedly, while I took art classes in both high school and college, I didn't study it extensively nor practice heavily, so my "artsight" is still very much in the rudimentary stages of development. All I know is what pleases my eye, not actually WHY it pleases me. But it was interesting to me to start the video not seeing the smaller works as separate and ending up understanding at the end. All the pieces turned out beautifully.
Hi Kelly, I didn't know that seeing 3D requires bilateral vision. Also, I didn't know that you are blind in one eye. Thanks for sharing that information. 💗 There are times when I look at art and know that I like it but cannot explain why. Sometimes art just gives us joy. No other explanation needed. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Mia, it’s hard for me to see the small collages in the first one even though I know they exist! Numbers 2 & 3 however are so well designed that I automatically see the “whole” first, then the smaller collages. They are def not obvious on any of the three complete pieces. Nice work! I enjoyed this video. Wishing you a lovely weekend. xo
Hi Karen, I admit it's harder to see the small collages in collage 1. It's very busy! Reflecting back on these collages, it was a good exercise in studying artwork. I occasionally look quickly at art without taking time to really study it. Thanks for watching! I hope you have a lovely weekend as well.

Hi Cheryl, it makes me so happy to hear that this video will be helpful in your collage practice! I hope you have a fun and creative weekend.
I am a long time quilter. I am drawn to collage because it is so similar to quilting. I get the same satisfaction with less time involved.

Your triangles are brilliant. Beautiful papers.
Thank you, Chris!
