Awesome! I make my own stock for soups...etc and would have never thought to keep the bones for bone meal. OMG...what a great way to repurpose. Thanks Mr. Brown
HELLO Gardening today, thanks. Since you make your own stock, you are halfway there. After the bones have boiled, just dehydrate and start crushing. You know, I never really thought about what bone meal actually was. Crushed up bones and all the bone meal I threw away, just to buy it. You are absolutely right about a great way to repurpose it. Are you thinking about trying it?
@GrowSomethingTasty Yes, sir I sure will be giving this a try. Thanksgiving is coming up. I'm going to be the one crazy family member saving bones...lol
'Crushing of the Bones'!! LOL!! I've missed watching your videos Mr. Brown!!! Just getting back from an extended vacation!! I am glad I didn't miss this one because I have been waiting for it!!! Plus, I have got to get caught up on your other ones I've missed. Great video as usual!!!! 🤗
HELLO KELS, I was thinking my friend Kels had of enough of my channel. I'm glad to hear from you. You had an extended vacation. Wow, that sounds awesome. Did you have to fly? I can't do planes. I glad you got to see the bone meal video. Let me know if I could have done anything better.
HEY @horsefamily, I'm glad you like the idea. No problem, I like making the videos. Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate the support.
+1 sub… can I please ask a question? I have loads and loads of thick beef bones. If I place all of these into a pressure cooker for three hours minimum will it boil off the skin and meat etc, and turn the thick bones to brittleness after just 3 hours? Wow 👍👍
HEY, Jennifer!!! Thanks for subscribing!!! If they are thick bones I probably would leave them in longer, maybe 6 or 7 hours. I say that because my kids had ribs, and I put them in with the chicken bones. The ribs were still hard. After the pressure cooker bake the bones or dehydrate them for a long while, to soften them up for grinding.
HEY Kimberely!!!! We think alike. I also do this with my egg shells. Do you believe it takes the egg shell powder 10 years to break down before you get any calcium?
You know what you can do is get a gallon jug put some banana peels in it with egg shells , and 2 tablespoon of cinnamon. Put water in it shake up and let sit for 1 week
HEY @rurutuM!!! I hear you. Getting it on clearance is a good idea. I normally do this in winter when gardening is a lot slower. It gives me some to do related to gardening. I save the bones, put them in the freezer, and have fun working on garden stuff in winter.
HELLO Nikkitobin, that is great. How do you make potash. I know about making nitrogen. Yeah, that feels so good not having to buy those fertilizers. Thanks, I'm glad you like the video.
HELLO Dnawormcastings, cool. Let me know how it turns out for you. The oyster power, I bet, makes some great fertilizer. Especially after the worms break down. Do you have a lot of worms, and how do you keep them from dying in the Bins during the hot summer?

@gardeningtoday2683 Ha ha, I will be, too. Those turkey bones will make a lot more meal than a chicken bone.

It was 1.5 hits in my pressure cooker for chicken and 3 for beef bones
That's great. Sometimes, I overdo it to make sure the bones are ready.
I freeze my bones no mold
HEY, New Jersey!!! You are right!!! Thanks for the tip!!!
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. I NEED TO BUY EVERYTHING, BC I don't have any of the machines you used, lol
HEY @eankimarduk4538!!!! LOL, you can use the oven if you don't have a dehydrator.
This is so smart! Tysm for your videos

Mine was ready in 3 hours. I use a heavy duty stovetop stainless steel pressure cooker from 24 years ago.
I do the same with egg shells and have my calcium for my tomatoes ready to go!

@@GrowSomethingTastyeggshells or powder? I didn’t think the powder took as long as the shells in whole
I love your excitement

Thanks!
HEY Mary!!! Thank you so much. That is so nice of you. Have a great day.
it takes too much time and energy to make these vs waiting for end of season clearance sales and stock up.

I love the cocoa!! Can you mix the bone with baking soda ?
HEY John, I have no idea on that one. I never thought about it. What do you think would happen with the baking soda?
Mix with cinnamon it help keep ants away and help plants grow.
