I used to drool over the Byron catalog when I was a young RC newbie. I wanted a Pipe dream and a Christen Eagle something bad. But could never afford them. And I remember the old Byro-Drive as well. I thought it was the neatest thing since sliced bread. And IIRC, Byron, Jet Hangar and Yellow Aircraft jets were used in the first Iron Eagle movie.
I still have a Byron Corsair to finish and also a Byron F-16 to finish. I also have a Byron Staggering that is being refurbished along with a Byron P-51. I also have a Byron Zero that needs rebuilt. Love the Byron airplanes!!!! Loved going to the show
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing. I was lucky enough to have flown 4 of these kits. Everyone flew great. My favorite were the Cap21 and the Ryan STA.
Thanks Andrew for down memory lane. My first year there flying was in 1987 in Ida Grove to the last year they held Strikes Back in Ankeny. It was awesome to meet fellow flyers from around the world that attended. Very sad that Byron had flown west years ago, he was quite a gentleman and put Ida Grove on the map. I had the honor years ago building one of there AT-6's & F-15's. I still have there catalog that I look at from time to time......
@@n1114v I only got 4 flights out of my first one. After 9 years of working on it. Had all the rivets and panel lines and flaps and sequencing gear doors. Along with retractable entry step. All glassed with a paint scheme of a 310 that I seen it Byron's at Ida Grove
Tthanks for posting that Andrew. Very entertaining. Wish they were still being produced today.
I truly miss these days of rc flying.

@Bob Green
I remember seeing one of the big Byron Sukoi's at the local flying field. It was an amazing looking and flying airplane.
This is awesome Andrew, I had the 1/3 rd Pitts. I loved flying it. Was at Byrons in 93 for the striking back show. Thanks. Ron
