In this video I will show you how to change an exterior door handle on a Freightliner Columbia without removing the entire door panel.
I will explain how the door handle and latch work. And provide a few tips on how to make the process a little easier.

This was a wealth of information here. I don't know of anyone who could or would explain these enth details with the thoroughness that you do. I found out the hard way you can't get into a Cascadia with the coat hanger tricks. Had it been winter it would've been a life threatening situation getting locked out. And the e-log misery , if door messes up while you're on the clock.

How did you get the black wedge off the handle
there is a hole in the edge of the door you have to get a socket and extension in there and take the nut off

How do u take door panel off im struck
You shouldn't need to take the whole door panel off. Just take that trim piece off the pocket in the door with a screwdriver like I show. You can then work thru that hole

My door is hard to open from the inside. Will changing that part fix my problem?
Only if the problem is in the mechanism. First check the cable out, and check those little clips on the ends of the cable. They can wear out and loosen up.
I don't want to be vague, but its hard to know what the problem is without seeing it.

I got it off but when I put the black handle back it's sticking up instead of sitting flush inside the panel

Great video. Never fixed the passenger side since it opened from inside. Then drivers side broke yesterday with truck running. Barely got in via small passenger side window. Thx for the video!
