Man... That wedge bracket kicked my butt... My Driver side handle springs broke and i couldn't open the door from the outside as well as the tubmler to lock and unlock the truck. Dealership had handle for 80 bucks and the little tumbler was 200 bucks..I said i ain't paying 200 bucks.. I bought the handle and ended up transferring the passenger side tumbler to the driver side so i can unlock and lock the truck with a key. Anyways had to take both sides out and and swap the tumblers out on to the new door handle, piece of cake but I dont know how you got that wedge in I was fighting it for at least 30 minutes trying to align it correctly. There was barely any room to put two fingers in and the bracket kept falling to the bottom and i had to fish it out. Eventually I got it positioned correctly, tightened everything down and all works well..
Thanks for your video. I had lock changed from a mechanic as previous owner broke key inside, mechanic charged 2 hours of labor. After I had top mechanism changed, which holds door shut. Again 2 hours or so labor. He said it's complicated to do it and takes too much time. Is it justified price? It's not dealership. Local mechanic $90/hr labor.
I have replaced it many years ago , unfortunately it was before I did any UA-cam videos . It’s time consuming about everything needs to be removed , I remember at the time the handle was only about $15 at the dealership.
You would think so but no . And if you break the door panel which is easy to do then that costs a lot of money . Several years ago I purchased one at the dealership for $300 so I am sure it costs a lot more now .

It’s rough I agree !!! These doors have little room in them where it counts . At least you got it , great job !!!!!

Those can very , even on the same part number.

Need to call the dealer with your vin number due to the parts can be different on your truck . Use that number on eBay or Amazon.

why not just buy the new one at freightliner? you need it and it's probably only $20 you'd save. better than having to tear it apart again
They are not even close to $20 lol 😂 depending on the truck you own , $70 to $300 .
