My question is, how would a perfectly peaceful person turn into a mass murderer in one night then go back to being peaceful the next day with no ptsd problems
People will be just looting and goofing around, specially after so many years of annual purges. You learn to behave politely with other citizens because you don't want to become a target. Of course, since this will be not enough killing for the government, they become the ones who hire assassins to eliminate the undesirable of the society and promoting violence [creating hate groups and hype them to purge].
And then, of course, you have your crazy neighbors still angry because you don't let them put their fence ten inches on your property.

As long as the docs are legit, though their procurement and documentation process can be Purge-legal, the car is legally yours. Because anything illegal per se was committed during the Purge, and anything long lasting, like the registration was completed on legitimate documentation.
You can threaten the notary with a gun, as long as you've made sure to steal the legit papers.

The biggest issue with the purge is how the movie underestimates the damage a well armed individual can do. The movie is all about petty property vandalism and murder as worts crime scenario, but an average individual that wants to do really good damage can easily prepare for that one day and blow any building foundation, killing hundreds and causing millions in property damage. No to mention bridges, tunnels, monument's or a good old raid on a nuclear plant. It's not like you have to worry whether you ruin a few lives or a few thousands.
I think, in the movie, severe damage to buildings is also prohibited.

That's exactly what I've been thinking since the first. The movie has a great concept and story but instead of buying all the tech systems you would stay over seas. But since the purge has been happening for many years you would think the rich people would all be alive therefore have the money to afford home security and go overseas.
