Being more feminine and soft has been a beautiful journey for me. It’s changed my perspective on my daily life and my future. It’s also made me feel a bit more happy with myself. I love who it’s making me become

I'm not gonna lie I really identified with being aggressive. As a Jamaican woman born and raised, we don't have many ultra-feminine role models and we are raised to be very aggressive, fiesty and all of the above but as I have entered the beginning of my 30s I have the strong desire to be soft and just a more calming and warm spirit for myself and others

Having gone to an all girl High School, I can now she that they were grooming us to be feminine but we didn’t appreciate that way of life as we should have. I want to be more feminine because I have one sided relationships with most people apart from family, I don't open up. And I want to drop the tough cookie mindset in my everyday and only bring it up when needed (work setting for projects, in the unsafe streets at times) but mostly since I started this I realized that as a woman you are mostly always protected unless 1 or 2 cases at a time.

Such great advice, and timely too! Just today, I was carrying a bunch of bags and heavy items into a building where a gentlemen offered me a hand. I instinctively said no even though I clearly could have used the help and would have actually appreciated it lol, plus he was quite handsome. I immediately regretted it because being open to receiving help has been on my list of self improvement for a while! But, I figure, each time is practice and the fact that I was mindful about how I could’ve reacted instead shows some growth. There’s always next time!

I started my feminine journey years ago and had some of the same issues that you stated. Growing up in Chicago as protection many girls like myself felt we had to be hard so no one would bother us and in turn resulted in us struggling with vulnerability. Being feminine has truly changed my life for the better and I’m happy to see more and more black women are spreading the message. Thanks for sharing the practical tips because I feel practicality is important.

Not going to fight you lol but I did try the neutral thing for so long. It's so interesting because adding colours like pink, red and yellow to my wardrobe has made me feel WAY more feminine than my usual black, white and grey clothes. I love being a bit brighter and it does make me feel beautiful. Also, block heels and ankle straps have been a game changer for high heels, which I always thought I couldn't wear! Love your first point that you have to do it for yourself! It's so true. Great video 🤩

That last tip on being Vulnerable is everything!!!! I recently moved to the U.S to work and the initial set of people I lived with made it so uncomfortable (they wanted to charge me money, even for the bed I slept on and to use the items in the kitchen). I am now in my new apartment and I am receiving so much help from people who care.... sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by all this help, I even broke down in tears this morning.....all because of pride and me thinking that I'm too much at the moment for others. Being vulnerable is truly hard especially for strong women. Thanks for these tips Octavia. I am open to learning and becoming the upgraded ME!

I decided that no matter where I went I wanted to look nice and put together even if it’s jeans a tshirt . I loved full beat makeup and big lashes but I’ve taugh myself how to do softer makeup and I like it . Big hoops but I like smaller ones now too.I still like full beat depending on the occasion . I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting to be feminine to attract a man or more opportunities. If that’s the motivating factor, they’re still doing it for themselves. Getting a husband or more opportunities is a by-product of wanting the best for yourself if those are your wants!

  • @mariaalmasaniroyalhouse9214

Actually neutral colours are only what middle class ladies wear. Actual rich ladies spend money on colour consultants and stylists to pick colours that suit them and pair them up. Even Ginnie Sayles said gentlemen hate neutral colours. Great for work, terrible for dates. Affluent gentlemen prefer bright colour in your season that suits you. That's why the royal family doesn't wear neutrals. Melania Trump doesn't only wear neutrals, same with Michelle Obama. It just shows one doesn't have money to have a colour consultant. A dress expensive on a budget hack is find the colour that everyone says looks good on you, wear it monochrome and combine it with neutrals.

Love your videos, Octavia! Came across your channel last year, as I decided I wanted to be more intentional in my aesthetic and creating space to care for myself in ways I’ve been neglecting (like getting enough sleep, reading, praying intentionally). I’m also Jamaican and raised by a mostly single grandmother and later mostly single mother. My grandmother was tough. And although my mom often embodied feminine energy (in her style and manner of speaking), I saw her harden over the years as she worked longer hours, slept less, and felt the need to do everything on her own as a single mother. I started to notice similar patterns in myself as I transitioned from an entrepreneur to a more corporate role where I work longer hours and felt I had to become somewhat more sterile/direct and say everything with a period at the end.
Self-awareness and willingness to evolve are such important parts of this journey. Agree with all your tips here. Thank you for sharing!

Color can be very feminine but I think maybe subconsciously you may think neutrals give you more of a high class look. Correct me, if I’m wrong.

I love silent luxury. Can you you a video on solid colors and neutrals and clothing compared to loud brand printed clothing and also on accessories & jewelry. I stay away from clothes that scream brand names and loud patterns. If I do wear pattern I try to tone it down with a solid piece.

I need help bad 😩😫😩😫, I use to dress like a boy, and now I don’t want to anymore. I’ve been trying desperately toto find my style but I just get discouraged. Even when I have on regular hospital scrubs people asume I like girls ( which equates in my mind that I somehow look like a boy) … ughh😢😢😢

I wanted to be that neutral colors short nail wearing girl but I realized rather late femininity is truly a attitude and I have to be myself And I feel the most fem I ever felt !so I’m glad you mentioned do what’s best for for you because women shouldn’t be put in an one size fits all box 📦

    1. I'm 35 years old and have been a "tomboy" my entire life. As my children are getting older, I am wanting to tap into my more feminine side and upgrade myself (style, looks, hair, etc)

You look femenine bu the way you speak, the things you say and your demeanor isn’t feminine. Saying this in a very loving way. To say: I don’t care… fight me… etc it’s not very femenine
