  • Here is the biggest reason why most golfers struggle with their driver. Due to the drivers shaft length being longer the swing plane for a driver has to be flatter meaning your swing has to be more around you versus an iron swing which is a lot more up and down steeper.
In today’s video, I’m gonna show you how you can flatten out your drivers swing with some simple simple set up changes and a drill. You’ll be hitting the driver better than ever before.
This is a must watch video for any golfer who is serious about improving their game. Check out this video and like always let me know what other golf coaching videos you would like to see from myself!

Another excellent video Giles on the driver swing! I like the "pinch" of the shirt under the armpit to keep the left arm connected! Something I will be looking into! Well Done Giles!

Thanks Giles. A great and simple explanation to separate your driver from all other clubs. I often see players that will pull out “the big dog” for the first two tee shots, blame the club, stick it back in the bag and just use their 3 wood for the remainder of their round as the first two driver shots were terrible. So, thanks again as the next time this happens I’ll simply offer to send them this. 👍😎🇦🇺

That’s exactly what happens and this is a big reason why

@@Gilesgillgolf Exactly. It’s the most expensive club in your bag yet a lot of players tend to give up too easily. Living with a long Par 3 tee as my backyard I do get to see mainly ladies and seniors using a driver as the max distance is 195 metres so it’s a difficult with traps in front so if anything you won’t to be hitting longer to be safe. I’m close enough to also hear the vocal reactions when things go wrong. On a slightly different note I plated a round with my neighbour and his son (who hits off 2). One a 525 metre Par 5 his second shot was with a gap wedge which landed a metre from the hole. Can’t recall playing with someone that can hit a driver that far for a very long time as it’s 3 shots for me on a good day.

Great visual with the lines through the driver versus an iron and how it determines the angle of the swing. Would that be true for even shorter clubs (ex SW) as well?

That swing on the way down do you have a transition thought to start it

Hi Giles another great video which highlights my problem, I need a flatter swing with the driver.
I noticed right at the end with your drill to keep the left arm more attached it produced a flatter clubhead and shaft plane. However in your final swing without a drill the shaft still appeared flatter but the clubhead slightly higher.
Am I imaging or is a your wrist position.
    Keep the videos coming.

It’s basically the same swing just some minor human margin of error

Lately I have really gotten better with driver but have never been good with irons. Fat them more than solid contact

Sounds like your keeping the weight on your trail foot not getting to lead side. Or dumping the club under plane too much

How do I not hit the ground behind the ball - I feel like I'm taking it too much "around".
