CHIMEI Gas Turbine Cogeneration Plant

To uphold our Clean & Green vision, CHIMEI continues to explore various innovations for carbon reduction. Our cogeneration plant is fueled by clean natural gas to substantially reduce eco pollution and recover residual heat as electricity and steam for processes.
CHIMEI's cogeneration plant mainly consists of 2 gas turbine sets and a heat recovery steam generator that outputs 500 million kW low-carbon power (130,000 household demand) and 1 million tons of low-carbon steam every year. It is estimated to reduce 124,000 tons of carbon emissions per year, the annual amount stored by 10.33 million trees or 320.4 Daan Forest Parks. This is our big step to “go net-zero”.
With carbon reduction as CHIMEI’s main goal to gradually and ensure stable production capacity, we hope to create a win-win situation in environmental sustainability and production. After our cogeneration plant start operation, we have been able to become 80% self-sufficient in electricity, which helped us actualize energy transition.
In the future, we will continue to actively develop green technologies. Our next step for the cogeneration plant is to mix 20 to 40% of our fuel with hydrogen gas to further reduce carbon emissions. With our solar power plant and offshore wind farm project, we will strive to reach our 2030 targets for carbon reduction and renewable energy. We will save energy from production processes, source biomass feedstock, promote green product, invest in carbon capture and utilization technology, and develop chemical recycling. Our comprehensive joint efforts with business partners will build sustainable value-chain resilience and make positive eco-contributions.
