1/2 copper pipe is the same.Works great.
I like the structure you have to put the mower up on ! What is it ? 😊
Thank You very much for sharing. Amazing job done!!! Good luck 👍 😊

Same here. Thank UA-cam for recommending it
The OLD MAN here from Eliminator Performance small engine repair. Just caught your video and hit the sub button, first time you came up as a rec from YT that i recall. Enjoyed the video and we purchase bronze bushings from Fastenal for 33 cents Cdn. each which measure .500 ID and .625 OD . If necessary we drill out the wheel with a 5/8 drill on the drill press to ensure proper centering and that the hole is perpendicular to the diameter so the wheel will not wobble when reinstalled. Note the wheel needs to be clamped when drilling for safety reasons since the drill tries to lift the wheel since it is so soft of a material. Mend It Man in the UK had a good video on using a pop can cut up in strips to make a bushing which is a cheap fix also. Steves Small Engine Saloon used copper pipe but we found the ID of the copper pipe is a little too big and has some wobble but better than what it would start as.
Drill press is a good idea. Thanks.
Wayne, any chance you can provide the fastenal part number that you use?
@@dsmith2858 Appears what is available right now in the bronze isostatic bearing section is sku#0434719 which is 0502 ID x 5/8 OD x 1 inch long and come in packages of 5. Originally we bought some that had a 0.501 ID
Another option is to go to the Home Depot (or any other hardware supplier), and purchase a piece of 1/2 inch hard copper tubing, and cut the length needed for the wheel, and then press it in by using a soft brass hammer or a block of wood and hammer. It works extremely well and will last as long as the original bushings.
Thank you!
I like the copper pipe sleeve idea. I originally got the idea from Steve's Small Engine Saloon
I really do like your idea thank you for the video
You could also replace the whole plastic sleeve with 2 bearings. I was able to get a set of 4 that fit exactly for 10 bucks. I've also done the metal sleeve insert as well for wobbly front wheels on non self propelled models
What is that stub on the mower called to where you attached the wheel to? I bought a used mower that is missing that part on one side.
Very good 👍
I use 1/2 inch copper tubing L type and drill out the plastic wheels and drill it
Done for 20 years with a tad of grease 😊
Agreed. I'd also spray either a dry graphite or silicone instead of grease.
I purchased some needle bearings that fit perfectly in my wheels and axle with little wobble (13mm inside; 19mm outside, 12mm lenght, 3 for each wheel, hole is 36mm deep in my case). I'm gonna mow a few yards and see if they won't get destroyed too fast. At first the wheels are rolling nice and not getting stuck.
I say stuck because when they are too loose the wheels are constantly trying to turn apart and the holes will "bite" on the axles and make it heavy to push. You can make this test by pushing the mower on a flat floor and seeing how much it rolls until it stops, It should not stop suddenly.
Great fix, going to last years. Plus it is going to roll a lot better and easier. Going to check my big back wheels right now.
Is it normal for a lawnmower wheel on a new lawnmower to be extremely loose after cutting the yard just a time or two? I've bought 2 Hyper Tough push mowers in the past month and they've both had the same issue right away? I don't know if this is just a crappy brand or what? These are brand new lawnmowers and both times it has been the rear right wheel that has gotten incredibly loose right away?
Boy, that stinks. My guess is that it's just not built very well. Hyper-tough...isn't that the Walmart brand???
@@Buckwsr yes it is :(
My front wheels are bowing out.. do you have any videos on how to fix that?
Always appreciate your videos
Thank you!
Great job 👍
Thank you!
Something i noticed today while fixing the wheels: The front wheels kind of have suspension in my mower (a cheap ebay one).
If you lift the front of the mower slightly the wheels remain on the ground until you lift it a few inches. Kind of funny i don't think it does anything and just adds complexity. There aren't any springs the wheels just droop down to touch the ground when you tilt the mower.
I l;earned something - thank you!
Thank you
Thanks for the video! I subscribed!
Thanks, Donald.
what epoxy did you use?
some kind of two part JBWeld type product....
You very smart
Take a normal L Type Plumbing Brass pipe, cut it to lenght of the wheel. Take a 5/8 drill bit and drill the wheel. push that brass pipe in and you're all set.
Any engineering business would sell you a piece of 1/2" id steel tube which would last longer than brass.
Donnyboy said lawn mower parts are expensive in Canada. I believe that as prices have gone up across the board on lawn mower parts. Between labor costs and parts cost, it's no wonder people just put their worn mower out by the road. I see the new electric mowers are getting recalled enmass due to fires. I do not encourage people to buy them because they will cost the homeowner down the road. Also, those mowers are NOT GREEN. There was no provisions to recycle them like the gas mower. Shame on those that are pushing electric mowers, or any other lawn equipment.
You're right. It won't be long till we're all driving electric cars and using electric mowers. And of course, it will bring its own set of problems. I'm not looking forward to it.
@Buckwsr Well, that what the government is pushing anyways. Chickcanic summed it all up. Electric is not there yet. Sad people are throwing their money away on this CRAP.
We have Lawn Mower Rear Wheels that may fit your Lawn Mower. We can provide for free. Do you need?
whatever it takes.....!
