Phumea Jak Kong Keb ("The Burmese Frog Hunters")
is a song that reminds us of the fun, poetic storytelling of the good old times. Cambodian people love to listen to storytelling through music and singing.
The lyrics are:
A poetic translation is:
“The frog near the pond is crying loudly. What is the matter?
Two Burmese ride on buffalo and carry tridents. They are trying hard to find food. As they come upon the frog it is crying in the grass.
The Burmeses are hunters. Hungry, they stab with no mercy.
The frog senses their attack, and tries to run and hide in the forest.
Sadly for the frog, the hunters get it.
It will taste great grilled and served with wine!”

Glad to see they turn this into a chamber music . I used to sing this when I was young. Well written and performed by the quintuplet and the singer.
