    I've been eating brown rice for the last five years. I usually do a lot of research about the stuff I eat on a regular basis, but I did this without much research since "everybody" who's into fitness and healthy eating that eat rice seemed to lean towards brown rice as the better option. Thanks for giving me insight on yet another topic! Much appreciated :) Love from Norway

    The potato might be my favourite carb source, it's local, it's so tasty and there are so many options.
    But I must say there's nothing I like more than freshly cooked, white rice. The pure white colour, the stickyness, the taste and the way it absorbs sauce. Just the pure colour alone makes me adore it.

      CabraLad supposedly the pH level being higher hydrates the body better due to having smaller molecules. Also the water is packed with antioxidiants as opposed to more acidic water, which oxidises the body. Furthermore, disease thrives in an acidic environment. It kills cancer cells becsuse cancer can't survive in an alkaline environent. Check out www.kangendemo.com. it's really interesting. Let me know what you think

    Can you make a video about the "best" form of cardio in terms of calories burned per minute? For example would swimming burn more calories per minute vs. other types of exercise (jogging, jump rope, burpees, etc.) because of having to thermoregulate in sub-body temperature water?
    Thank you so much for making these videos! They've really helped every aspect of my fitness again thank you so much!

      @Lifelesscarcass 7 років тому

      ElementMaster22 Right, but he really only went into detail with running, and that the EPOC was rather insignificant being only 60ish calories.
      What I'm trying to ask is maybe something like calories burned/ minute per type of exercise. For example would swimming for one minute burn significantly more calories than jogging for one minute due to thermoregulation from cold water? I'll edit the question thank you for your input!

    • @septicbile2901
      @septicbile2901 7 років тому +1

      the difference is negligible at best man,just do stuff you like the most,so you'll be more likely to keep doing it. no matter what you do,if you do it consistently it will start to benifit you. stressing numbers too much will halt your progress.

    • @AmazingZelgius
      @AmazingZelgius 7 років тому +2

      Ben Hi! It all depends on how fast you swim/run/cycle etc but these 3 burn pretty much the same. The themorgenic part of swimming in water won't matter much unless you're swimming in very cold water like a lake in winter, in which case it will have even more benefits than just burning more calories.
      If you are able to do it well enough, jumping rope is the type of cardio that burns the most calories/hour.
      You can find the comparisons, and more, in that article www.bodybuilding.com/content/which-cardio-methods-melt-fat-the-fastest.html

    • @UnknownXV
      @UnknownXV 7 років тому +8

      But as the video shows, brown rice isn't even necessarily healthier. The only real advantage it has is the lower glycemic load, but in reality if your diet is decent otherwise, that won't matter. And given that white rice tastes a thousand times better than brown rice, it's not even close for me.

    You should compare all major carb sources. Brown rice has many benefits when compared to white rice, but when compared to bulgar wheat, barley rice or sweet potatoes you'll find some interesting benefits that aren't negligible. Much more fiber, more complex carbs(lower gleucelic load), more protein and more vitamins and minerals.

    In terms of Arsenic, it greatly depends on the source of the rice...
    Sad to say but American Rice is the worse since the rice is grown on fields that were previously grown for cotton. These fields are full of Arsenic based Pesticides which means that the Rice absorbs it and increases Arsenic levels.
    Compare that to Rice grown in many parts of Asia where rice has been grown in those fields for hundreds of years. Arsenic levels are are lower since the traditional method of growing rice (by flooding the paddies) is enough to deter many pests and so pesticides aren’t required as much.

    Fuck it man, let's just avoid anything that sounds beneficial to your health, they will probably end up finding that it's not even worth it and it makes no difference if you choose which food you eat. And I'm not talking about fad foods or super foods, everything you eat it turns out it's not as healthy as you thought. Just give me the damn pepperoni pizza, I know it's not healthy but at least it never said it was.

    • @essennagerry
      @essennagerry 7 років тому

      David C. Actually home made pizza isn't unhealthy at all.
      It's perfectly fine unless you're on a keto diet, in which case I think bread should be avoided.
      But honestly - I don't get why pizza gets such a bad rep. I've argued with my family about *why* they think it's oh so obviously unhealthy and after a lot of struggling they came up with things that are bad about it that have to do with how it's prepared - basically how the restaurants and pizza shops are doing it wrong. So yeah, what's wrong with home-made pizza? Nothing. Pizza in and of itself is just fine.

    I just don't get why would ancient Asians go through all the trouble of refining till rice is white - when brown rice is eatable and with arguably more health benefits?
    Sure, just like white bread, white rice is sweeter and white colour makes it more pleasing to the eye - but perhaps all this is just modern marketing.

    • @jayfawn8478
      @jayfawn8478 7 років тому

      my same question!

    • @essennagerry
      @essennagerry 7 років тому

      XpertCameraMan East Asia has favorited whiter, ligter skin for a long time and some even today would percieve darker complexions as "looking dirty". So it may have something to do with their preference for a lighter complexion or they thought brown rice looked a little dirty? So they refined it?
      I'm merely making some huge, barely educated speculations. :D

    • @iXpertMan
      @iXpertMan 7 років тому

      All this whiter and purer 'preference' had to come from somewhere...
      I know that Asian kings ate only white rice, so perhaps the rest of the public assumed this was better.
      But who told the Kings that White rice is better? Why is 'White' better, purer? Who gave humans such an idea? :/

    • @lilcarson2339
      @lilcarson2339 6 років тому +3

      XpertCameraMan it comes from primal times of us being afraid of the dark at night when we didn't discover how to make fire consistently. So really darker the scarier and also white or lighter colors are thought to be more god associated.

  • @Viatoreptil
    @Viatoreptil 7 років тому

    Informative! You should consider talking about quinoa and chia seeds if you need more topics for videos. Also, is it true that eating "complex carbs" (e.g. pasta) the night before an exercise event is beneficial for your performance of the event? Or is it more important to consider the glycemic index of the food the night before. For example potatoes are complex carbs (starch) but have a high glycemic index while onions practically store pure simple carbs (glucose) but have a low glycemic index. What's best to eat for dinner the night before a routine or event?

    dangit! my mom was an early health-nut and she taught me brown rice was healthier. i like either one, usually white rice when it's in a 'filler' role (say orange chicken on rice with other sides) and brown rice when it's an integral part (say a brown rice/broccoli/mushroom combo meal she makes which is delish). i like the taste of brown rice, but it's not quite bland enough for 'filler' stuff. so for me, i like white when it's supposed to 'support' the other flavors, and brown when you wanna taste it more.
    thanks for the info. much appreciated!

    I use to enjoy white rice because of its smooth taste amd texture but I switched for brown rice for the nutrients and not having a food coma afterwards. After a year of mostly eating brown rice, returning to white rice feels weird. It tastes extra sweet now.
