    5. LIMITED ROOM FOR GROWTH
    6. HEAVIER THAN MOST

    8. KAZAM SELECT & SELECT PRO
    BOTTOM LINE
    1. Two Main Models
Kazam balance bikes go by many different names! Depending on where you buy your Kazam bike - Walmart, Target, or Kazam itself, the Kazam name will change. Kazam Neo, Kazam Tyro, Kazam Wheeli, Kazam Select… it quickly gets confusing.
But here’s what you really need to know. There are two main models.
SWOOPING FRAME - comes with foam tires or air tires
STRAIGHT FRAME with air tires, which is called Kazam Select
In this review we’ll primarily focus on the swooping frame models because that’s the classic design and they are more widely available.
    2. Solid & Durable
Kazam bikes have durable steel frames and are solidly built. They are basic quality, but for under $80, they’ll take a pretty good beating.
We appreciate the true headset on the Kazam that keeps the handlebars tightly in place. Handlebars on balance bikes often come out of alignment after a crash, but the Kazam’s are held more securely than many other budget bikes.
    3. Great Footrest
While a child doesn’t need a footrest on a balance bike, as far as footrests go, the Kazam’s is better designed than most. It’s the only footrest that our three-year-old tester has successfully been able to use.
The angling of the footrest is designed to match the angle that a child’s foot naturally takes when lifting their feet off the ground. The footrest is also unobtrusive as to not interfere with a child’s stride.
    4. Air or Foam Tires
Kazam balance bikes are available with air or foam tires. Air tires have the advantage of better traction and cushioning. Foam tires will never go flat and weigh less! We highly recommend air tires for the comfort of the rider.
    5. Kazam balance bikes have limited room for growth
This Kazam balance bike we tested has a minimum seat height of 13.75” and a max of 16”. Making in a best fit for kids in 3T pants. All three Kazams we tested had different minimum seat heights, with their height adjustability ranges falling somewhere between 2” - 2.75”.
A two to three inch seat height range is very small for a balance bike and offers limited room for growth. This is one of the major disadvantages of a Kazam balance bike. Other budget-friendly balance bikes, like the Banana Bike GT, have about four inches of seat height range.
However, we do appreciate that all Kazam balance bikes feature a height-adjustable handlebar to allow taller riders to fit more comfortably on the bike.
    6. Kazam balance bikes are heavy
Our Kazam with foam tires weighed in at 8.4 lb. While the overall weight of the bike wasn’t a burden for our experienced testers, the Kazam bikes do weigh considerably more than similarly-priced balanced bikes. For example, the Swagtron K3 with air tires weighs just 6.5 lb. while the Banana Bike LT (with foam tires) comes in at 7.3 lb.
    7. Rear frame too wide for small riders
We found the Kazam frame design to be problematic for shorter or petite riders. Compared to other balance bikes, the rear portion of the bike’s frame is quite high and wide. As a result, our youngest testers actually hit the inside of their knee on the frame while riding the bike.
    8. Kazam Select and Select Pro
So how is the Kazam Select different? The Select only comes with air tires and is even heavier at 10.9 lbs. However, its rear frame is straight and lower, so our younger testers didn’t have an issue with hitting their legs on the frame.
The Kazam Select PRO has an aluminum frame, so it’s a bit lighter than the Select, but we didn’t purchase one, so we don’t have an exact weight.
    So what’s the bottom line?
While both the Kazam and the Kazam Select have a lot to offer, their limited seat height range and higher weight as well as the wide frame design on the Kazam prevent us from recommending them over other budget-friendly bikes like the Swagtron K3 and the Banana Bike.
