One of the most magnificent constellations, here in Southern Brazil we see it upside down from the photo like if it's really put on top of something. Fun fact: Alphecca, from the arabic "al-Nair al-Fakka" meaning the "bright one of the broken", because the pattern is "broken" in half as a C is an eclipsing binary, where two star orbit each other, one passing in front of the other and decreasing the system brightness. It's really amazing!
Thank you for sharing! I can't wait to make it down to the southern hemisphere to observe how the constellations look compared to what I see in the northern hemisphere.
@@learnthesky I understand you because the opposite happens to me, I've never been anywhere in northern hemisphere, and I can see only half of Cassiopeia, Draco, Cepheus and Camelopardalis. Never saw Ursa Minor and Polaris rotating around the N pole and only recently I finally saw Dubhe scratching the N horizon and the whole Big Dipper from here. And be prepared, if you plan to stargaze the surroundings of the S pole you'll have a hard time to recognize some things, besides Centaurus, Crux, Carina and the two Magellanic Clouds this part of the sky is devoid of everything bright hahahah
This is literally my favorite UA-cam account. I thought it was pronounced Boötes Also do Hercules Coma Berenices Canes Venatici Scorpius Cassiopeia Aries Fornax Pegasus Pisces Virgo Ophiuchus I love this channel I learn so much about my hobby if astronomy
Great video. I'm trying for a few weeks to document this constellation by taking pictures. I'm hoping to see T CrB nova soon. I hope the sky will be clear when it happen...
A very nice and cute corona! enought with them jokes .. I have taught my mom most of the constellations now, alto over the phone in the dark ;) she says your videos heleped massively. I coulnt agree more :) I told he this is boötes smily friend.
Was it true this constellation was in the east skies as the sun rises, as the sun literally rose through it November 27th? Also Omicron is a star in this constellation too right?
No. This is not true. The sun does not pass through Corona Borealis, so it is not a zodiacal constellation. But yes, there is a star in this constellation that is dubbed Omicron Coronae Borealis. But keep in mind that virtually every constellation has an omicron star in it. This star naming system is called the Bayer Designation system, and it orders the stars in a given constellation from the brightest on down with a Greek letter. This system was created hundreds of years ago. And this is not the only way astronomers name stars. There are many star naming systems that have been created over the centuries. I hope you don't mind the long answer. It is exactly for reasons like this that I started this channel. Scientific misconceptions are rampant in our society. My aim is the teach through the scientific lens of astronomy.
I like to look east about a third of the way on a line between Arcturus and Vega. Still waiting for that nova here on the 42 parallel as of August 1st, 2024. I've got the before pictures of the region SE of Epsilon Crb where T Crb should intensify from a magnitude 10 star to a magnitude 2. Oh just another eighty-year, possibly, once in a lifetime occurrence. 😉Clear skies y'all. 🌌🔭❤
Yes, this is true. It is very faint, and right at the naked eye limit with a magnitude of 5.53. Dark skies with no light pollution are needed to see it.
Showing a massive explosion covering half the sky is so misleading. Arc to Arcturus from Ursa Major meaning follow the handle of the Big Dipper to find Arcturus. You will see another bright star appear here for about a week between now and October. That’s it. So keep looking up.

thank you. 😃
I found the Corona Borealis for the first time! Thanks again. It's like a treasure hunt looking for these constellations.
This Corona Borealis constellation really is beautiful even if it is the northern crown of the spring Skies👑😎👍
I'm certain I saw this constellation in the sky and got excited.
Nice video I was looking at this constellation quite a lot tonight
Great video! We’re looking forward to the deep-dive into deep-sky objects in Corona Borealis!
Thank you for the recommendation!
Seems that Corona word has an ancient effect even out of our planet 🌎😅
Actually it has a greater connection.... its the fighting for the crown.....and actually it sounds like a world war fighting for the crown.
I found Corona Borealis this July and when I showed it to my five year old daughter she called it necklace. 😊

The first part of the name is Omicrom!
The most common pronunciation is bow-oh- teez. Thanks!

Is it visible in September in the Northern hemisphere!? I just heard one of its stars is going to Nova explode???

September 6 now... Still waiting for T Crb... Kinda hoping to be waiting through September because clouds will disappear in October
Can you do a Star constellation called Lupus? Please?
Lupus is on my list.
10:00 As I can see the variable R Coronae Borealis is in a maximum brightness. 🙂
رائع! شكرا
It’s so beautiful! Who’s crown is it though?
God's and it's going to nova explode any time now.
Jesus king of kings crown
There is supposed to be a binary star system next to the Corona. B about to Nova some day soon.
Omnicron corona borealis is a star in this constellation.

Corona borealis and corona australis
If you were born on October 27th/November 10th your a crown👑
I born on 27 October
You're *
You are.
Ok

Seems it gone off! Enjoy
Why no mention of omicron
Because I made this video in April 2021 when the Omicron variant wasn’t a thing.
