Say what you will about Telltale’s Walking Dead and their illusion of choice, but it set the gold standard for The Walking Dead games that even as of 2024, they still haven’t been able match up in terms of quality and storytelling after that series of games ended.
Huzzah a man of quality! 👏🏼
not just for walking dead games, but for story telling in general. not many things have been as gripping and heartbreaking as telltales twdg
@@hammywoods 3 and 4 was just horrible so people wanna take away its credibility. To be fair I don't know how they sold with the story telltale has to be in the HOF of biggest fumbles in history of gaming
@@godloveszazaNah. I think Season 4 is on the same level as season 1. In fact, I think that comparing final season to the third season is a huge mistake. In my honest opinion, what comes between Season 1 and Season 4 is...well, season 2 was okay and it wasn't skippable, like season 3, so there. Funny, how both of these games were rushed and had original stories scrapped and replaced by what we have today.
Like, after season 2 I went straight to the final season. Tbh, didn't miss much.

I fully believe the best ending to Season 2 is staying at Wellington.
Clem and AJ get (at least temporarily) shelter while staying in Wellington while Kenny gets to live and hopefully move on knowing he successfully completed Lee's journey to look after Clementine and get her somewhere safe.
same
there was a theory that he was killing himself with drowning in lake or river
not to burst your bubble but he probably killed himself; clem and aj were all he had left. without them, I find it almost impossible he would be able to live long or even a happy life. they were family and we've all seen how kenny handles grief. so that on top of losing your last loved ones after losing others in a relatively short period of time most likely ruined him and drove him to eventually killing himself. even though kenny dies with clem and aj, at least he lives happily with the ones he cares deeply about; not wandering aimlessly as a broken, 10x more hardened, traumatized and depressed man waiting for the day he can commit suicide. he had love before he died with aj and clem, but in the wellington route, he had straight misery.

Season 2 was incredible aswell
Season 2 was better 3 4 just pathetic
Season 4 was pretty great, wasn’t a fan of 2 or 3 and 1 is still top tier
Telltale walking dead will always be a legendary classic in my eyes. It made me teary-eyed at the end of season 1. No game has ever gotten to me to that point. The storyline was good with Lee. I still played the other seasons but they don’t come close to the first.
same here
tall tales borderlines might to be the only one almost as good as walking dead season one
Man, the feeling and emotion In twdg first season finale is just heartbreaking and it still gets me everytime.
Kenny was also one of the best relationships probably one of the most in depth in the series if I remember
I adore Kenny dude, some people crap on him but he's such a cool guy. Is he a little nutty? Yeah, sometimes, but he genuinely cares about Clem and AJ and doesn't want any harm to come to them. His story is so rich and tragic that even if he wasn't a decent guy I'd still like his character. I HATED how Telltale killed him in S3, man deserved so much better than what he got

Telltales Walking Dead is still one of the greatest experiences I've had in gaming
Don't forget how AMC went balls deep into NFTs, further souring the brand. There was even a "blockchain-based" junk heap of an isometric survival game called Empires that went as well as you'd expect. You couldn't play as any of the main characters unless you bought a $100 jpeg of them. The Walking Dead as a reputable franchise is dead because AMC couldn't resist milking it at every opportunity.
oh nooo, not nfts, whatever shall we do *yawn*
@@ghhn4505 found the nft owner
What does that have to do with anything?? Just about every brand has done NFTs. DC is still doing NFT stuff at the moment.
@@BoogSReviews
Not every brand has done NFTs, just like not every celebrity did crypto endorsements. The brands that did NFTs were the money hungry ones or the clueless ones. AMC also did way more then just drop some NFTs, they sold an NFT game too.
And from what I can see, DC is probably trying to salvage profits from what they got themselves into. There's like...NO news about the DC NFTs. So it's not like they're doing it because it's a massive hit.

I will never forgive them to what they did to my boy Kenny.
Honestly, just shoulda made the thrid game about them two surviving out there, with their dynamic all set, it would have been as easy as counting to 2 to write a good season, with Kenny still not being over his trauma, having Clem on his site to bring him back from the darkness

RIP you alligator punching, mullet rocking, trauma having mighty mustache Florida man, you'll be missed...
Man survived walkers, depression and living in Florida only to die due to lack of seatbelt
Kinda why I personally went with the [Shoot Kenny] option with the [Alone] Ending. Gives Kenny a much more tragic & heartbreaking ending as well as showing the beginning of Clem’s progression towards her jaded + weary ANF mindset, especially with how much venom she has towards Jane upon rejecting her after finding AJ in that freezing car.
Yep then season 4 would be about Clementine and Kenny fighting off Lilly

Andrew Lincolns acting deserves an award and teltales twd needs to pop back into popularity
The telltale series has still set a precedent for The Walking Dead games, which is crazy considering it came out in 2012
TWDG never gets old
I do think it's funny how the show had the cliffhanger, when the comic was already out and even people who didn't read it could probably just find it by googling "who does Neegan kill"
Edit: Alright, yes I know the show and comic are different, I'm just saying the fact they dragged it out like everyone was gonna keep guessing was kinda dumb when viewers could just look up how it went in the comic and default their expectations to that. And yeah AMC didn't do their own twist on it, just went with Glenn cuz it was the straightforward route.
Though it's worth noting that while the show did definitely change how some things went it still usually stuck to the same beats for things they did recreate from the comic directly. It's pretty obvious an adaptation is gonna be different from the source material, but I never got the vibe the show was ever willing to fully rewrite the basic plot from the original story unless it was specifically to account for something they were doing with their own ideas they pushed into it.
Glenn was already being used to tease the audience with the idea of getting killed off as early as the first season so I think it's pretty clear they weren't gonna drastically change his story or shift his importance since he never got much else in the show up until that point. By that point in the story he had his role outlined for him and AMC had no real reason to deviate. And again since they don't usually change stuff from the comic "just cuz" they'd have no reason to do anything except what people who already knew were expecting them to. So yeah they shouldn't have dragged it out like it was a big deal, it really wasn't.
I mean at the time it was kinda cool speculating at the time. Everyone was kinda wondering if they'd keep it the same and the lineup was really different. In the comics it was Rick, Carl, Maggie, Sophia, Glenn, and Heath. In the show a lot more characters were added, and since Abraham outlived his comic character it wasn't for certain. I definitely think it was a mistake to do that awful cliffhanger though.
The show is only like 60% accurate to the comic, so reading the comic wouldn't always answer it for you.
Exactly, it was so dumb that people got mad over it. People forgot all about Abraham and just get pissy about Glenn.
I should mention something I love about Saints & Sinners that may have happened to you.
Sometimes Walkers will swat at you and barley miss you. However, this has a chance of them hitting a weapon on your belt causing you to drop it and you not noticing until later on you can't hear it drop when the undead are growling.
Also the way I opened doors was to grab it then walk backwards.
Saints and Sinners is a neat game too aye
Retribution is kinda fun now after a bunch of updating
Still with the flaws in the writing and the yet-remaining bugs could be fixed
I myself enjoyed the VR games a lot for their survival aspect, building up shelter, and even decorating the "home" like i totally would myself was a fun way to make this game immersive
I just wish it was that way from the start, without waiting months for fixes to errors, some of which exist to this day

And to think that in more recent years, Skybound did try to revive the Telltale Series but through DontNod (devs behind the Life is Strange series). Though ultimately due to the increasingly chaotic & toxic workplace environment within DontNod, Skybound winded up pulling the plug on the whole thing and went about their own business to start milking the Invincible series instead.
Didn’t telltale also die partially due to toxic work place too?
@@AL-lh2ht Yeah but that was more due to being overworked into major crunch hours & lack of creative experimentation by their boss (before the board dropped him hoping a new boss could fix the damage, which was ultimately a case of “too little, too late”). Nothing regarding sexualising misbehaviour or sneaking nazi ideology as subtle Easter eggs into games like what was going on in DontNod.
DontNod and Decknine is two different studios so it were Decknine
I love Life is strange and the walking dead the telltale 😭🙏 goated games
@@manofmercy1500 Didn't one of the telltale employees say their bosses would get into yelling matches with them everyday? I would say that's pretty toxic.
Excuse me sir, but Season 2 was one of the best seasons of the show.
I agree but I can understand how people can see it as "boring" but I see it as the point that changed the characters

Worst part about destinies is that no matter the choice it’s the same dialogue and “beautifully crafted” cut scenes between different characters
in the very first game it’s very sad 😢 and the fact that it’s actually so scary makes it horror. it’s so sad when lee dies, because i think he could have been a character that would survive for way longer than he did
The Phone games where actually good at first but then got ruined by Microtransactions.
That batman and invincible reference at the beginning was pure gold 😂
We were all robbed in season 4 of not having Kenny alive when Lily returned
this may have already been mentioned here but GameMill was the publisher of motherfucking BIG RIGS OVER THE ROAD RACING. how they've managed to stick around for that long truly baffles me.
The editing on this video is amazing man. Keep going man. This is beautiful.
Yeah it's of quality
The Walking Dead series from Telltale, will forever live in my heart.
I can't believe I'm saying this. But Survival Instinct might deserve an apology after Destinies came out!
Survival instinct was okay to me, I don't hate it as much as everyone else, but it's not a great game to me. However compared to destinies, it's like like RDR2 in comparison 😂
Honestly, Survival Instincts was one of those games that were oddly enjoyable to me. It was clearly bad, but for some reason I just enjoyed it.
maybe
Survival instinct is an incredibly fun game. Idk why people hate on it so much. Still one of my favorite games to this day.
Survival instinct is a good zombie game. It's repetitive and frustrating at parts but it's solid.
They just need to take a whole 10 year to make a good open world zombie game.
32:50 Ok you GOTTA tell us what that music in the background is, sounds epic, tense, and sad, all at the same time.
I think its a variation of the Hulk movie (2003) soundtrack.
@Erik-Vr It sounds similar yeah, but I can't find the exact version yet.
Looked it up. It's called: For All of Us.
You unlocked a lot of memories for me in this video, I was a telltale fan from the start of the walking dead season 1 and their strongsuit was always that point and click adventure style of gameplay, you got to unlock choices and make choices through those little explorable moments and that was a huge part of what made the walking dead season 1 so personal. Then at the end your group treated you differently based on how you treated them which tied every single choice you made into one big bow, so even if not siding with kenny was very impactful all the way back in episode 2, it would change how he saw you on episode 5.
Then 400 days came around and I remember telltale devs actually told us that the people from it would have a major impact on the gameplay of season 2, even simulating the choices you made during 400 days to affect how they were in season 2.
Then when season 2 began to be teased I remember a bunch of people were speculating what was going to happen, a lot of people were expecting lee to be alive or a zombie due to clementine aiming her gun slightly to the left when she shot him but that wasn't the case. Then when episode 1 of season 2 came out we got to speculate on all of those future episode teasers and what they meant, spoiler alert they actually meant next to nothing and some were so irrelevant that they had to change it, like carver was originally meant to be Troy until he was changed. The biggest problem though was that 400 days thing, the characters actually had 0 change no matter what choices you made, and they all acted exactly alike regardless which was basically the beginning of the end for fans. Another huge problem was the fact that if you could choose to save someone in season 2 that meant they were going to die regardless and would have a minimal role until then, people were waiting for nick to die and he eventually did but not before becoming a complete mute and not playing a role at all in the actual game until the time came for his death.
Then season 2 ended and the devs were like "your clementine will drastically change how she is in season 3" and then all the kenny fans were hit with the worst death in history when he gets paralyzed through a car wreck, and it was just because they wanted to rope all endings back to a single point, so jane hangs herself, kenny dies, and she ends up being no different except with a missing finger, by that point everyone who didn't read the writing on the walls in season 2 checked out. (then I remember during episode 5's release they decided to make the thumbnail a major spoiler for a character death in the game, and it would've had much more of a negative impact if people didn't stop caring at that point).
dude wtf the edit at the end is crazy🙌🏻

The ending supercut of the best moments from the show and games was great. Makes you long for just another really good walking dead story. If only the main show was given the budget and story it truly deserved, and other writers for games and spin offs took the original meanings of the show to heart and put the new characters through hell only to show them come back from it in the most badass way.
