Yes, genius is the word. One of the great character actors of our time. On WKRP: "Is that butter patty real?" (Johnny: "I think so, why don't you eat one?") Someone else in the comments mentioned how easily she could steal a scene. I've been a character actor in small-town community theater and there is a special joy in walking onstage in front of an audience and feeling their reaction: "Oh, yeah, I don't know who he is, but he was in something else I've seen," or being accosted at the coffee shop by someone who recognizes you from just some little thing you did. Actors like Edie McClurg must have that happen to them all the time. She earned it.
Absolutely. WKRP did well in syndication (re-runs) so I know I saw her big episodes at least 2-3 times. Mrs Tarlek was this handful that Herb talked about but whom you rarely saw, and then when you did see her henpecking him, it felt so good to think, "Good, he deserves her." Brilliant character.
I don't think that's the show's only 'Little House on the Prairie' joke. Seems like once, in the office, Herb described the show in a similar way. I can't pinpoint the episode.
Her description of 'Little House on the Prairie' made me laughs so hard...and I love that show. She's got the greatest mid-western accent in the biz.
She is so funny and deserves more recognition. Planes Trains & Automobiles and Ferris Bueller would not be the same without her.
Not to mention she was a great foil for Elvira.
She is such a powerhouse, so sweet & when that cackling laughter breaks loose, she owns the scene.

I agree. I've been a fan of hers for eons.
Loved her ever since she played Herb Tarlek's wife on WKRP in Cincinnati

The cheery Midwestern accent just made it funnier!
Edie McClurg is America’s unsung hero.

She was awesome in Carrie too
To think she played a teenager in Carrie only a few years before
Yes
Priceless!
Edie McClurg will Just Say Moe
Looks like Matthew Lawrence , the son does
If I'm not mistaken, WKRP was on against Little House, at some point.
Yes, I'm binge watching WKRP and looked it up, you're right.
Edie McClurg will Don't Forget The Three Stooges
@@kennybegeske8824 How does Edie connect to The Three Stooges?
Wait, was this an episode of WKRP?
Yes, they broke format for a week. They had a "documentary crew" follow Herb and his family.
Mrs Iron Man
Edie McClurg and the three stooges

The Three Stooges
She sounds like Bonnie Brindle here and not like Solaria from Madame's Place
the guy under me is kool
The Mother of my son Little Moe
Sadly Edie is now suffering from Dementia and has withdrawn from the entertainment industry due to her illness.
