Please post more so our church community can follow your lead and sing these great Psalms back to God. I (like many in our churches today) have no clue how to sing these Psalms because our churches never have. God bless! Jesus is Lord!
Going to post my first ever critical comment of Canon Press here - the words really need to appear a moment BEFORE they are sung, so people can easily sing along. Not a moment after. Took some time to train our own church projection people about the same.
More of these please! The "it's good to be a man" podcast masculine worship episode led me to search for a Christian sea shanty and this was the first hit. I love it! May more churches sing such masculine songs
I like the shanty, but why are you saying that churches need to sing more MASCULINE songs? Don't you know that music doesn't have gender? Don't you know that most hymns and even contemporary worship music were written by men?
amen brother acts 24:14 but this I confess to you after the way which they call heresy so worship I the God of my father's believing all things that are written in the law and in the prophets
Thank you so much for this post. Oh how I would love to be with you all in Moscow. May God continue to grow his church in Idaho. Love and blessings from Australia.
The vast majority of music sung in evangelical circles these days was not written with an understanding of how to get the most out of untrained singers. You see these churches with an heavily amplified worship leader, and they sing these songs that were written by soloists with a vocal range of three octaves, and the idea is for the man on stage to drown out the discordant moaning of the congregation. I don't oppose doctrinally sound CCM, but pop music does not translate well to congregational singing. We need more shanties. They are accessible to untrained singers and to the 21st century ear, even more accessible than other traditions of congregational song like shape notes or the Geneva Psalter etc. Also the format lends itself to the Psalms.
Amazing wonderful God work even in our darkest day.to exercise our faith, to tears Off the rotten bought of self dependence, and to roots us more firmly in Christ 🙌🙌
I have been proclaiming this 136 Psalm for Ukrainian people & President Volodymer Zelensky from a Russian-speaking Jewish family, since February 24, 2022. I declare God’s Kingdom, God’s Power, and God’s Glory to be & remain with all Ukrainian people and their home land both now & forever as God had done it for Israel. Amen 🤟🕊
Reads title: WHAT?!? My brain: This is the perfect fulfilment of antiphonal music, the ideal category… This did the opposite of break me, just put back something that I never knew was always missing!
I would love if the lyrics were slightly ahead of the actual song, perhaps by a half a second. That way this video doubles as a way for us to sing along.
Is this rendition of the Psalm based on any previous versions? Or does it have some history to it in regards to where and when it was composed? It’s fantastic.
Please don't take offence but I think you should of used a stronger solo vocalist. It's a strange transition from the mighty crowd singing and then a pretty weak vocalist on the solo parts. Great lyrics though. The group sounded amazing.
Now I feel like becoming a whaler on the open seas in the 1800's all to the Glory of the Lord.
That or a redeemed pirate LOL

Amen :)
This Psalm is on replay!
I was scouring the internet for this Psalm after seeing a short clip of it on Facebook!
Love this! Singing this with my kiddos when we worship together!
I need an album of these.
Same
Aye laddie. The Lord be merciful to those who love and obey His statutes. Soli Deo Gloria

Me too... A fellow Aussie thinking this is wonderful! Gotta try and bring this awesomeness to our home too I reckon 😊

Forever and aye!
if you like this, try listening to the version in serbian “psalm 136, slavite Gospoda”. it’s a whole another melody but still incredibly beautiful
Aye lads and lassies of Ye LORD, raise a glass and bless Him ( after church😂) 🍻🍷

YES!!
#MenAreSavedToo
Have this on repeat! 🙌🏻
Well I love the open seas but can do without the whaling. Love to tack and ride the waves.
Love this song. It gets stuck in my head all the time. Is it possible to include the last ‘UUIPP!’? It gets cut off at the end.
This is strikingly similar to the sacred harp shape notes singing.
😭😭😭

I downloaded the sheet music and it says arranged and composed by Doug and Mark Reagan
Take. The. Ship. 🏴☠️
Always thought aye was said is A but after some pirate movies and shows it's I and Im not sure if it sounds better than aye on this song
I kept hearing "and a day" instead of "aye" or just "a". "Endure forever and a day" seemed to make sense.
Is this original? If so, wow! This is brilliant!
How would one go about organizing a psalm into a shanty, I'm interested in learning how to do this?
will yall put these shanties on Spotify?
I think there is an error in the on-screen lyrics near the end in verse 6. Shouldn’t it be “the Jews inherit all,” not “and Herrod all?”
Inherit all??
So youtube is putting 4 minute unskippable adds on your videos.

“These modern worship chorus are getting really repetitive.”
Why are you guys pronouncing "aye" as "eh"? It's pronounced like "I".
It's a word of all vowels, let it happen.
Very good. However, Your use of the word Jew is inaccurate to the point of skewing the theology of the song. Just use Israel like the psalm says.
